“Rise and fall with the leg on the wall,” was what we were taught.
You do such a great job!! Those are some lucky horses to have you
Thank you!!!
It's great . How long will the horse take to develop this walk
That depends on the horse, and the trainer!
Where can I find the sa#le in the us

...I seen house broke mares train their babies to do their business outside and make excellent host mares for other babies...
This was a great video except my brain works opposite how you trained...working on the outside leg when standing instead of sitting when the inside leg is forward you should be sitting. I am left handed, don't know if that makes a difference or just the way I am trained to learn.
Yes, I totally understand. Hopefully it is still helpful. I'm now sending out videos through my website email, and have them unlisted on CZcams. If. You'd like to see more, go to www.shadetreestables.com and you can sign up for free ☺️
Follow up question: once the walk is done fluently and routinely, how do you ask for this walk while riding all of a sudden??
They have to have a really strong thoracic sling so I would work on self carriage in riding first. Then you can cue with the sound and or tickle with the whip at the elbow, and allow your leg and seat to follow.
I have a question for you. I have an 11 year old mare who is incredibly sharp and quick learning; however, she is set in her ways and although I have her desensitized to the whip, she is still very stubborn on giving her legs or feet at any time. She is so used to touch in these area but like I said, is set i her ways. I have never liked the rope training. Is there some trick you know that could help me here?
You could try putting a pedestal or mounting block in front of her to put her foot on. Some horses really think that's fun!
Great lecture on 🐎skull
Thank you!
Thank you so much for sharing. You are doing a great job for your horses. I have one 31, one 24 and one 22 and am trying to figure out how to best provided for them. The two mares have Cushings which makes it more of a challenge. Blessings to you..
EFT tapping is needed to add to belly breathing. We need heart breathing
Thanks. I have 2 in their 20s now.
This new trend of bitless bridles is very troubling to me. I've seen horses broken from rearing by putting a bossal over that part of the nose and using that pressure to convince the horse not to rear, whereas a bit didn't have any influence whatsoever. That bossal skinned the ridge on the nose and created an open sore. Over time when using a bitless bridle the bone will thicken and change and even cause a divot in the horse's nose in certain situations. It's not a tool for a novice. It's a torture device.
This can be true for sure when used incorrectly, but I've more often seen remodeling of the bars in the horse's mouth from the use of the bit. You have to pick your poison and use it wisely.
These details Make me concerned for horses where people use bitless bridles when you think about it. The reins are hanging from that delicate part of the skull there, putting pressure on it, whether you touch them or not, and to me that's much more dangerous and uncomfortable than having a bit in a horse's mouth.

@@user-wq5nb3sy7f more than once a month. I put it on about two weeks ago, but then washed my horse's tail, so I just reapplied this morning.
Got any suggestions for a baby
Thanks so much for your disclaimer at the beginning! I’ve been having fun teaching my young horse a few tricks and was going to add Spanish walk but he just learned to smile and has been following his 80 year old caretaker around with his lip in the air. I’m going to save this video for later.
You're welcome!
Thank you for showing the actual training. There are so many videos on horse training that show them "training" a horse that already knows how to do it. It always makes me feel like I'm doing it wrong because my horse doesn't react like theirs!
You're welcome! Exactly! I have an online course now as well where I will continue to go through the process of training my new Andalusian, and then use the one from this video to show what it looks like over time. You can find it at www.shadetreestables.com under "MEMBERS"

What can I do if my horse doesn’t respond and step from the whip and only responds to my hand?
You could use your hand and pair it with a verbal cue, and then use just the verbal cue, once he understands.
If that horse was brown I would swear you stole him from my barn ! This was very helpful, thank you !
You're welcome! I have one in brown too 🤣
Great tips! Thank you! I'm a new horse owner and I have about a month with her before she goes to the trainer. She an old gal so she knows the ropes and I need to learn to keep my space!

I recently started leasing a 3 y/o percheron gelding. He's BIG. He literally dragged me today (super embarrassing). I'm taking all the tips and tricks from this video for our next round pen session! Thank you
You're welcome! Working in a small area like a round pen is beneficial, but stay away from the "round penning" mentally of chasing them around. Mentally it's not good for the horse, and for a big growing guy like that, it is not good physically. I suggest working calmly with more of a liberty feel. Best of luck!
