Another thing to watch for, on dirt bikes, the clip wears down to nothing. I replace the link before it becomes a problem.

except when it catches on that white plastic bit right next to it. as the chain turns and hits that white plastic chain guard the guard will force the clip off like you say.....

those slates have barely any overhang into the gutter (should be 50mm), bit of wind and you’ve got water running down the wall. the lack of felt overhanging wasn’t helping, but the slates are the main issue. also eves trays go under the felt, not over. your fix will work ok

I bought one of the older models 3-4 years ago. Followed the instructions for use and storage but each year it became more of a pain in the neck to use, bogging down and randomly cutting out. Anyway I just don't trust the brand anymore along with the lack of support from screwfix.

Next time measure the thickest flat area around it, then use a depth gauge to measure the pit. Some tyre gauges are good for this if they have wide enough arms.

I'll add my two pennith worth... Firstly, I definitely WONT be registering my birds! My life has nothing to do with the government. Let's not beat about the bush, this new form of control has arisen because the bird "industry" (listen-up Bernard Mathews) has for years been essentially "watering down" their flocks liabilities and have been keeping them going by using "additives" into the feed and the jabs that is illegal for them if they DONT jab their birds! For you and I this means that if one of THEIR birds spreads the diseases, then EVERYONE suffers. I say TOUGH Titties if they are being so stupid in trying to chase profits over healthy birds. Badgers were culled because the cattle industries couldn't afford to taint their already tainted milk and meat, so the government, under the brown envelope of successful candidate choice, set out to destroy the badgers because of the industry! I'm not being party to this nonsense. I will continue to keep my chickens, and the government can cluck right off! Discuss?
