In this video, a mechanic named Paulie dives into the challenging task of removing a gearbox, clutch, and suspected dual mass flywheel from a camper van. Frustrated by the malfunctioning flywheel and the looming cost of replacement, Paulie sets to work with determination. He begins by loosening the wheel nuts and raising the van securely using a jack. With the vehicle stabilized, he disconnects the lower ball joint and the drop link, followed by the removal of the inner CV joint carrier and the drive shafts.
Next, Paulie tackles the rear and top mounts of the gearbox, carefully detaching them to gain access. He then proceeds to remove the clutch slave cylinder and the numerous bolts situated around the top of the gearbox. After ensuring proper support for the engine, he loosens the gearbox and meticulously removes it. The final step involves disconnecting the gear change cables, allowing him to finally lower the gearbox.
Exhausted but relieved, Paulie encounters an unexpected surprise. Upon closer inspection, he discovers that the culprit is not a dual mass flywheel, but a single mass flywheel! This revelation brings a wave of relief, as a single mass flywheel is significantly cheaper to replace. While a new clutch is still required, Paulie is overjoyed to have saved himself the unnecessary expense of a dual mass flywheel

Only me again mate the cv carrier do the bolts have to be loosened completely and how do you separate it cheers

i removed the carrier bolts on this one. driveshafts will just pop out of the gearbox ..lever them out

@@DoItWithPaulie I'll do this I just loosened them loads but will loosen fully tommorow mines the 2.5 D lump not sure if there's a pin to split the box not a lot of places to lever it off either

They come stock dual mass, there are plenty of single mass conversion kits about though because no one likes dual mass shenanigans!
