Malham Circular Walk | Janet’s Foss | Gordale Scar | Malham Cove
zhlédnutí 7KPřed 3 lety
A trip to the Yorkshire Dales to Malham for a waterfall walk with a view whilst visiting Janet’s Foss and Gordale Scar before finishing up on top of Malham Cove. I tried to conquer my vertigo, confronting it by walking up the very edge of the Malham limestone pavement to take a photograph of the view from the edge. I coped OK but it didn't work in the long term, and I still get dizzy, even travelling on escalators without walls on either side, but at least I got an excellent photograph from the edge.

It always used to amaze me, when i saw the sheep on ledges halfway up (or probably halfway down,) the almost sheer edges of the ravine on the way to Gordale scar. There didn't seem to be anyway they could have climbed up all that way, so I have to assume that they'd all slipped down from ledges above.

The one feature of Janet's Foss, that no video or photograph can do justice to, and has to experienced in person, is the heady smell of garlic from the ramsons, (wild garlic plants,) as you approach the pool at the foot of the falls. These plants grow wild in abundance around Janet's Foss pool, and its always worth pulling a few when you're there in season, as they make a delicious addition to a tossed green salad.

  • @chrisbentleywalkingandrambling

It certainly is beautiful up there. We planned on going to The Trinicles but it was so misty. Saving it for a clear day. Bagged Ashway Moss and then headed over to where you started and completed the resevoir loop. No wind at all which was a first for me. New Subscriber from Stafford. Help put a low number channel in return?

  • @chrisbentleywalkingandrambling

I was a Dovestone Resevoir yesterday. The water is 40ft down from where you saw it. That spillway was high and dry.
