      @@GentleMinh yeah. Thanks for reminding me to post an update. The tree is much larger. It’s flowering occasionally but not a lot of fruit. I need to figure out why it’s not fruiting much.

      Yes. It’s normal in summer when it’s hot. It will crinkle like that.

      No it grows like that. It’s a floppy weepy tree. Check out my updated vlog on the tree. It’s a lot bigger now

    You may know now that the Wurtz variety is self-fertile with both A and B flowers.

    My ghost peppers have no fruit and barely grew despite being 2 yrs old got no peppers

      There must be something wrong with soil or roots. Most peppers take off and grow large once summer weather comes.

      My Thai chilis, serrano, cayenne, Fresno all produced lots of fruit in the same container, soil as the ghost, but the ghost no flowers? No fruit and both plants boughf from 2 different sources couldn't even flower? Doesn't make sense? Maybe they dont like the weather?

    I had to move my Carmen to a shady area. Last summer it nearly died in full sun. Reed does really well here.

      My Carmen is kind of barely growing. It’s my second one. I wonder if they don’t do well in Bay Area. Maybe not enough heat. It’s fairly cool here where I am.

      @@pepechangarden I hear they usually produce with a good crop of fruit in the Spring up here. I know someone has a fruiting one in Concord and weather there is probably similar to yours. I have a small one and I have noticed that it seems to take time to get acclimated. Btw, the spacing should be fine. Mine are 8 feet apart and the trees are happy. I probably could have got away with 6 feet spacing and pruning of course.

      Young avocados get burned easy. You need to erect a shade structure for young trees until they get older and larger.

    landed on your page searching for a page mandarin review. Persimons are notorious to start slow since it has deep tap roots, mine took 3 years sitting there to establish roots and then boom! 4th year it grew like crazy. Don't let it fruit for such small and unestablished since it will drain the energy out.

      Thanks. It’s grown so much larger since that video after the rock removals. The soil composition is regular soil and cactus mix planted and mounded higher. Then topped with basic mulch from Home Depot and leaves.

      Check the hardiness for your zone. Asian persimmons are not as hardy as American persimmon or hybrids. They are slow growers though. So be patient if it doesn’t look like it’s doing anything

    Bought this puny little Satsuma mandarin 2 years ago. No fruit yet, but it has grown a lot, so I'm hoping to have some this year. I've heard so many positive comments about it that I hunted it down, lol.

      Satsumas take a while to flavor up I heard. Mine tasted watery and bland the first year it fruited. It’s a good tree for cold weather too.

      I don’t think citrus likes wet soil. You should place in a dry area. Citrus grows best in dry warm climates

    Awesome! Sacrifice the lemons by taking them off. The blooms would be better to take off in the beginning so that the energy goes to the root structure and develop the tree. The trunk and branches are undersized which is due to the tree focusing its energy on blooms and producing lemons. Also I assume you have had this tree for 2 years as you mentioned but remember it was 2 years old when you purchased it from the nursery. This is the average age you can buy lemon trees at the nursery or 3 year old tree which are typically in a 15 gallon pot. In other words this tree is undersized. More research is needed and you will be on your way. Hope this helps.

      SF weather is different yes. I suspect you guys can grow more cool weather things which here in San Jose we get very limited grow time for that before it gets too hot.

      @@pepechangarden Mostly overcast days. Lots of fog. Average temperature is 55 degrees Fahrenheit. Native soil is sand. The only thing that grows well is potato. Decades ago, I had some potato sprout before I could eat them. Lesson learned. No more 50 pound bags of potatoes from Costco. I trench composted those potato with other kitchen scraps. The potato grew. Now, no matter what time of the year, there are potato plants in the yard, in various stages of growth. I get free potato all year round. I can't get rid of them. They keep coming back.

      I bought it from willow tropical fruit trees in Morgan hill. willowtropicalfruittrees@gmail.com. It’s not gonna grow very big in Northern California. Maybe 10-15 ft.

      Watch the watering. Sometimes too much watering causes root rot. Replacing the soil from the store with cactus palm soil is a good idea too.

    I wouldn't use that mulch, I would use forest floor mulch or just leaves. I have the same tree, they are beautiful. Also I would use fish fertilizer and kelp. And molasses. Then your tree will thrive. Avocados need a lot of water also. Look forward to an update

    Could you tell where you bought this tree? I am currently working in San Jose. I really want to buy this variety because it can provide fruits year round unlike the traditional Hass variety, and I don't know where to buy it. Thanks.

    this longan kohala variety is very beautiful. is there any difference in the leaves for a common longan?

      Thanks. I’m trying to get it to grow more leaves. I don’t know what common longan leaves look like, I do notice that this variety leaves seem to point down like it’s droopy. Kind of strange, thought it was sick.

      I'm from Brazil. I have the common logan, but the tree is 3 meters long and never fruited. maybe it's because of the climate here in Brazil, where the temperature is very high. it may be that the plant is from seed, hence the delay in producing.

      @@maxsilva4121 seed grown takes a very long time to fruit and you don’t know if the fruit will taste good. This one is air layer or marcot. From a old established tree. It had flowers already on it when I bought it last year. I personally think it’s worth it to pay the money for a more established tree.
