There's a typo on 9. It should be "which of these" not "which if these."
I wish this could be a written test because due to the formatting of the question i had a few half wrong and would have been correct if i could have written them out. proof of knowledge should be more important. also who wrote these questions? i feel they need to take an ASE test before giving input on what questions to ask. so many questions require more diagnostics to isolate and identify what is really going on.
Question 1 answer is wrong. The PCM recieves a signal from the knock sensor to advance the timing and the knock sensor sends an ac signal the PCM to advance the timing due to detonation.
im sorry is this a joke?
#10 The PCM does not increase idle speed, everyone would be flying around a parking lot. P/S line psi increases for lot maneuvers. They are both wrong !!!!!!
So in question #6 the answer implies that an engine coolant temperature sensor is a thermistor, is that true?
Thanks for the valuable feedback. ECT sensors are NTC sensors, thermistors containing materials that have less resistance as temperature increases. Automotive heating and air conditioning control modules also use ambient and in-cabin NTC sensors to monitor outside and inside air temperature. See www.freeasestudyguides.com/ac-negative-temperature-coefficient-sensors.html - Good Luck Matt!
Let my ask judt with this video am ready to the air contion text?
I had an issue with #5. If there was moisture in the system, the system would perform poorly at various temperatures, not just at the hottest time.
Thanks for stopping by OldSchoolNoe . That's true. Moisture is horrendous; remember that it freezes in the expansion valve. This problem can result in warm air midway through the test drive. - see www.freeasestudyguides.com/ac-frozen-expansion-valve.html - n - Good Luck with the A7!
A7 soon
Too easy.... I'm testing
That was fun
Good Luck elefanny1106!
we never making it out the hood fam😭😭
Brooo😂
Got 'em all! The hardest section for me would be turbochargers/superchargers since I've hardly worked on them. I only know how they operate and the components they use in theory.
That's great, here's a few quizzes that may help! www.freeasestudyguides.com/a8-engine-performance-quiz-1.html - Good luck OldSchoolNoe!
Got most of them, but you got me on #3. I pictured the intermediate shaft as just a metal rod, I forgot that it too has universal joints!
Good luck on the A4 OldSchoolNoe!
Ready for the test
Have helped me not only become a master technician but truly understand how some components work thank you so much
That's great! Good luck with everything, Mario!
For those who don't know, be AWARE, ASE is a big rip off. The people who leave comments on here asking for help regarding if the questions on the real test are similar to the study guide and it seems like nobody has answered to that question so far, let me share my opinion. I took the G1 ASE test a few weeks ago and let me tell you that the questions that you find on the real test have nothing to do with the study guides that we find here or online. So yes, ASE equal to scam. I studied and learned all the study guides that you can find here and online, I even paid an app to study, and all I can say, most of the questions are not related to what you learn on their study guides and in top of that they don't score 10 questions which it is ridiculous, 5 ok but 10 questions, come on. ASE shame on you, you guys are just looking to fill your pockets that's all.
I've seen quick take-up master cylinders, but I need to brush up on how exactly they work.
Thanks for the feedback - For more on step bore quick take up master cylinders see www.freeasestudyguides.com/brakes-quick-take-up-master-cylinder.html - Good Luck with the A5 OldSchoolNoe!
#6 caught me by surprise. Here I am thinking I knew everything about ABS
The beat is bad ass lol
Question 2 is a joke clearly if it's the red brake warning light it's a E brake problem if it's the yellow abs light it's B stupid way of wording a question had to be a female
Thank you, got a 60%!!! must study more 🙇
Thank you! This is a great resource for folks like me. You all have helped me passed a1-a7 so far! Going for A8 next week! Fingers crossed and Thanks again! p.s. love the soundtrack lol
That's great! Congrats and Good luck with the A8 ttrbykir!
Did you pass
@Johnny G yes sir, got 47/50 lol! Did lots of studying, and these videos helped too!
If only the A6 was as easy as these questions lol. Majority of the test is electrical diagrams on the starting system, charging system, and ground issues within circuits. It just gives you a voltage reading at points in the circuit and it makes you find out which is correct on your own
Thank you for all your helpful guides! ❤
Good luck Soiled Grandpa!
I don’t get how on question 4 both techs can be right. If the wastegate is open how does that result in overboost?
Thanks for the feedback, the video is right, Answer D is correct, neither technician is correct. A stuck open wastegate results in under boost and a stuck closed results in over boost. For more questions and information on turbochargers visit www.freeasestudyguides.com/turbo-charger.html - Good Luck with the A1Shane!
I rewatched it and understand now. I thought it was saying both techs were right. Thanks for the reply!
Read the questions carefully bro, can’t afford to make mistakes like that during an exam. Good luck!
@@justaman3817 This was a while ago. I passed a1-a6 so far. Studying for 7-9 now. Thank you!
As far as the actual test, how close would these questions be to what’s on there? I’ve been on the website as well, and feel I’ve been doing well on the practice tests, but don’t want to get too overconfident.
Solely on your website alone, with the pretests that are thankfully free, I've knocked out A5, A8, & A4, all within the last 6 months, thank you truly to whoever runs your website and this youtube channel. You've helped me immensely.
That's great. Congratulations! You took time and studied for each exam, and that was key. Good luck, thanks for visiting www.freeasestudyguides.com -n- thanks for the thumbs up Morning Mist!
Very good explanatory and descriptive video...Thank you!
Good Luck Frank!
whats funny is even way back 30 years ago when i did alignments, we still didnt use minutes.
#3. ive never heard anyone refer to a plug wire as secondary insulation so im calling a party foul on that one
Fr bruh
Different manufacturers have different terminology, study more bro, knowledge is power 👍🏽
I thought the same thing, until I realized in the next slide, "insulation" was a typo and they meant to write "secondary ignition".
@@ace1usmc ahhhhh good catch!
that was a fun practice! Cant wait to whip some ass on my recerts peace
Good Luck on the ASEs!
Thank you for this I am just returning after 14 years to this industry. any advise for studying for A.S.E. tests?
Thanks for the comment, Lou! Welcome back. The tests are timed now, available all year, and proctored at Prometric. Visit the A5 Study Guide on the website www.freeasestudyguides.com. It has 60 A5 Q&A. If you are unsure of an answer, use the Read more... section. The tests can be tricky, so we suggest taking time and studying for the exam. Use the study tips www.freeasestudyguides.com/studytips.html - Good luck, Lou!
These videos are great, thank you for sharing!
Thanks for the comment, Jesse; Much Appreciated! The A1 Study Guide on the website www.freeasestudyguides.com also has 75 A1 Q&A. Good luck with the A1!
Thanks for making nice videos do have for CA smog & Rapair study guide
i appreciate the service you are providing but please, the music....... needs to go!! seriously you have the same 32 bar sequence playing over and over and over and over and over sheeeeeesh
Passed this prep with flying colors! I'll be signing up for the test soon!
I just missed #6...the wording got me. See, if point B is open then no spark occurs at plugs 1 and 4....and that's what the question is asking, hehe.
I took the test and none of the questions was similar to these lmaoo
Hope I can pass my ase electrical test with this it’s in 2 days :/ I passed MLR and brakes but failed the suspension and steering (I was 2 off )
Thanks for the comment, Blasian; www.freeasestudyguides.com/ has more A6 questions with detailed explanations. Good Luck with the ASEs!
dont feel bad man. it sucks but you can take it again (also there are a ton of free quizes that are almost word-for-word)
Great video
Good Luck Justin!
Question 4 is answer c not b. Both tech a and b are correct.
Thanks for the comment, Mark! The unit requires a solid vacuum to operate correctly. Answer B is correct because 10 hg" of vacuum is low and can cause problems engaging and holding 4X4. If only 10 hg" of vacuum is found, check for vacuum leaks between the manifold, case, and the actuator. The actuator also contains a diaphragm that can leak. Good luck with the A3 exam!
i hope you studied more and learned to read the questions carefully.
Great video! I haven't seen these questions on other practice tests.
Thanks for the positive feedback, Daniel, and Good Luck with the ASEs!
Thanks! I passed A3 yesterday. All I have left is automatic transmissions and I'll be master tech. Your videos help a lot, keep it up man!
Should I read the ase brakes book or can I pass the test off videos and study guides ?
Thanks do you have pdf ? Do you sell it?
the answer to number 9 is a lil hard for me to understand
Thanks for the comment Young Malcolm! Vehicle riding height or ground clearance is a vital measurement that's checked before performing a wheel alignment. It affects the toe, caster, and camber angles. Measurements are taken with a tape measure or special tool from the ground to the fender well, bumper, control arm, etc. Check for the manufacturer's specifications before taking the vehicle's height measurement. Typically sagging coils, leaf springs, suspension airbags, or torsion bars are at fault. Check the control arm bushings for wear or damage before condemning any spring. Vehicle manufacturers have different specifications and techniques for measuring ride height. Usually, if the vehicle sags more than an inch from front to rear or side to side, it is out of specifications. Always check the sticker in the door frame for the correct tire size. A larger or smaller diameter tire also affects the curb ride height measurements. Good luck with the ASE's!
question one is incorrect, the camber is out of spec. that also isn't how alignment specs have looked for fifty years. in question 4, you answer D; the horn switch causes the steering wheel to squeak, then your explanation is seemingly for answer C...never heard of a horn switch causing a noise on a steering wheel, guys 🤣 question 6 is incorrect, caster does not affect "shimmy" and was in spec according to your own chart...question 8 is incorrect...an f250 with hd suspension has a solid fron axle with a parallelogram steering system with a PITMAN ARM and strut rods go on cars WITH STRUTS and not a solid front axle
Thanks for the comment Cano Bear! Comment: "question one is incorrect, the camber is out of spec. that also isn't how alignment specs have looked for fifty years." Answer: The caster in this vehicle is four degrees plus or minus one-half degrees (.5°). The vehicle's actual caster angles are within specifications. The camber angle is read one degree plus or minus 30 minutes. The (') or minutes symbol is used to view or represent angles, just like an actual clock. The thirty minutes reading equals one-half degree. Notice the 45' or forty-five minute reading for the RF. It is equal to .75° (decimal degrees). The camber is 15' or .25 degrees off; 15' or .25 degrees is within specifications ('30 minutes/.5 degrees). The specifications for the toe are in fractions of an inch. It is negative one-quarter of an inch plus or minus one-eighth of an inch. If there is no negative sign preceding the number, it is assumed positive. Technician A is correct; the vehicle in the chart is within specifications. Comment: "in question 4, you answer D; the horn switch causes the steering wheel to squeak, then your explanation is seemingly for Comment: answer C...never heard of a horn switch causing a noise on a steering wheel, guys." Answer: That is because question 4 is an Except-type question: the steering coupling, the clockspring, the steering column bearings, and the horn switch. The horn switch is fixed and not likely to make noise. Answer D is correct. Comment: "question 6 is incorrect, caster does not affect "shimmy" and was in spec according to your own chart. Answer: Question 6 the vehicle in the chart has excessive caster, Caster is viewed from the side of the vehicle. It is the forward or rearward tilt of the steering axis. A positive caster provides steering wheel returnability and greater stability. Excessive positive caster causes hard steering, wheel snap-back, and shimmy. A negative caster is rare and typically used on heavy-duty applications. It can result in instability and wander. Answer D is correct. Comment: ...question 8 is incorrect...an f250 with hd suspension has a solid fron axle with a parallelogram steering system with a PITMAN ARM and strut rods go on cars WITH STRUTS and not a solid front axle" Answer: Pitman arms are attached to the steering gearbox and linkage of parallelogram steering systems. Coil springs are used in suspension systems. Solid drive axles are held in place and prevented from excess movement with control arms, strut rods, and track bars. Due to their design and small contact area on the chassis, coil spring suspension systems usually require more control arms and links than other types. Good luck with the ASE's!
is there any pratice test for CVT tranmission
how is number 2 both technicans? how does an intermediate shaft cause that too? if u can explain it would be appreciated
Thanks for the comment on intermediate shafts, Young Malcolm! It reminds us that intermediate shafts have universal joints that can bind or cause looseness while turning the steering wheel when worn. Technician A mentions a binding universal joint that binds then releases. Technician B mentions that the intermediate shaft may have a binding universal joint-they are both correct. Loose universal joints are more common and typically easy to diagnose. The steering wheel will have an excessive play with the vehicle at rest. Ex. Turning the steering wheel an inch or so in each direction will have little or no effect on turning the front wheels. Have an assistant turn the steering while visually inspecting the shaft, universal joints, and linkage for looseness and play. Good Luck!
Wouldn’t 1 be tech A only since they are saying it’s the engine overheating?
That's a great question! B is also correct because the transmission cooler is in the coolest well of the engine's radiator. The engine's coolant flowing past the cooler removes heat from the transmission fluid. That's why an overheating engine will also affect the temperature of the transmission fluid. The excessive heat causes the fluid to expand and push through the transmission vent located on the top of the transmission case. Good Luck Supra7602jz!
