Brilliant review fella, I’ve owned the 2.0 and just bought a pair of 1.0, with the 2.0 my ears seemed to touch the inside and were uncomfortable after a while but the 1.0 seem a tad deeper. Unless my ears have shrunk?!?.

I tried buying the AT M50s and returned them because the highs were so screechingly awful and painful. Worst high end I've ever heard out of the box. I couldn't stand the M50s sound signature and I've read others complain about the same issue. The Beyers sounded fine out of the box, but a few months of burn in really smoothed them out.

I got these two years ago and I use them every day as my main dynamic drivers. Also very portable, and very comfortable. Very non-fatiguing phones. I love them when I don't want to drain my IFI amp power with planars. I usually reserve those for home amp desktop use since they eat so much power. These do not.

I actually find them pretty great, comparable to my ATH m50x, just not as wide of a sound stage but do great job for the price.

I've had these since they came out. Only recently did I connect them to a high end amp. Wow!!! I'm glad I never got rid of them.

Hello there... Could someone tell me what would be the best pick for blues(rock), classic rock, acoustic, folk, and some jazzy tunes? HD600, HD650, HiFiman 400SE, or... sth else entirely?

So after all these years, how did these DT 990 phone hold up? Any failure at the molded strain relief where the cable comes out of the phones? Di the velour pads deteriorate? The pads on my Sennheiser phone have to be replace every six months as they come apart.

Currently i can get it for $14, what do you think?

I was just about to pick up one of these, used of course, and didn't realise they were this old so the battery is probably shot but is replaceable so not a huge deal but the no playing while charging is a dealbreaker as I'll mostly be using it as a desktop amp/dac. Thanks for the heads up man

I have this E09K + Andes-E07K DAC and I have the same connection problem - it works at first but after a while the sound gets distorted in one can and I have to pull the DAC out and put it back again. Very annoying...

Hi Alan, ok i know iam a bit late coming to the party on these but i have just acquired myself a pair of these SUPERB headphones, i was contemplating over the T1s 3rd generation but then those led me to the T1 2nd generation and then onto your review of these, having listened to the HD600, 650, 700 and AKF 701 Q702, 712, beyers Dt990 and 880 these just blow them all away IMHO, breathtaking clarity, super soundstage, full bass and boy oh the treble! , the detail! How anyone can call these harsh is beyond me and how Z can rubbish them is truly baffling to me??? I think you are spot on with these and your review was what probably swayed me to purchase some (paid £200 GBP) for a mint pair, coming from the 880 (another set of superb Beyers) but these are in a totally different league but i do think they need decent amplification (using OTL tube amp) , they scale magnificently and are MUCH underated, build quality is obviously top draw being German Beyers and that tesla driver is awesome....thanks again for the review !
