Hi Kristyna. I hope you have time to reply......I would appreciate it a lot....Could these be put into an oven and cooked to develop a crunchy crust?........What temp?..... If so, would you split them before baking or would you split them open after? They look great and I look forward to trying. Thank you. (I'm watching from California where the weather is either warm or HOT, no real winter :/ )

It was faun to see your mom working with you in this video. My mom wrote down this exact recipe for me about 50 years ago. I make this cake so often, that I have the amounts of ingredients memorized. Everybody loves this cake.

I’m Māori but my aunty’s husband is from Czech Republic. As a kid he would make these for us. I can still remember walking to his house after school with my brother and sister and sitting at his table and just inhaling plates of these with a big bowl of stewed onions. I miss him so much 😢

My Czech grandparents have passed away in the last year or two and I miss them and the food my Babi would make. Very happy to come across this video so I can impress my mom with some good dumplings as well as all my friends. Thank you!

Czech do this with pork, its called Škvarky a Sádlo. There is also a spread for bread called škvarková pomazánka that uses the fat and the cracklins. I love the cultural variations of different foods made with similar ingredients.

Indefinitely will be making these and several others I'm bingeing this evening!! The cookbook I told you I got from my MIL- she was Italian, is Slovak not Czech... it was a church or community book with many of the recipes repeated by different contributors. I didn't get a chance to dig into more when I unpacked it because I had a lot of cooking etc to do.

I remember making these as a child, but my Grandparents always had us put a small hole top and bottom of each egg, so that we could empty out the egg and have just the shell to decorate.
