Japan by Camper Van: Day 3
A peaceful pace of life. I felt like reflecting this tranquil atmosphere in today’s video.
Weeks and maybe months of ongoing travel seemed to catch up with us today. Rather than race around, we were happy to enjoy the quieter mood and take our time in the moment.
My mind was at ease in the morning and I was grateful that extended throughout the day. Especially since the town of Yufuin in Oita was crowded with tourists. I thought it would be a nice place for Dylan to experience as we passed by on our way towards the ocean on the east of Kyushu.
My undiscovered experience today was:
1) the ski area Mt. Waita which I’d love to try in winter.
2) Japan’s tallest swing. This is apparently the tallest free standing swing in Japan where you don’t use a harness.

You’ve seen the house now see the shed before I renovate

Welcome to my shed / garage :) A year later and I haven’t really touched this space beyond moving some things around. Now it’s time to unlock new territory! I’ve basically got to the point that I need to tidy this space up to find things more easily 😂 I’ll first build a custom work bench and shelf storage. Once that’s it’s in place I’ll be able to think more about what to do on the second floor...

When I hiked Myokosan last year I knew I had to come back for the steam vent. I see the steam almost every day from my place and have been thinking about it for a long while. I got busy and didn’t put time into getting up there but I finally made the time to go check it out. There is little to no information about the area in both English and Japanese. Usually for places like this with volcanic...
Making a Japanese Garden

This is an interesting project for multiple reasons. 1. I live in deep snow country Japan. Every decision needs to consider where the snow will land and sit for months. It will be up to the windows and everything underneath with be crushed, frozen, and wet. In other houses you can see where people once attempted to build balconies. Now only the concrete footings remain as they either rotted awa...

What does countryside Japan look like? Well, here is an introduction to my small town. “You must live in the middle of nowhere”. A very common response within the comments of my original video about buying a $6,000 house in Japan. But it turns out, I have everything I need to live a comfortable life right on my doorstep. Everything in the video is within 10 minutes walk from my place. With the ...

Congratulations on a beautiful house. I agree not to make changes to the house until you've lived in it a while. Also save some money for the winter I have no idea how much Kerosene costs there, you may need that come winter. I am assuming the tank is in good condition. . You may need plastic sheets to cover the windows to make sure heat doesn't escape in the winter. Personally I'd water those Bonsi trees. In the U.S. they're expensive.
