    I know this is an old video, but I have been looking into OsteoStrong. Have you done any other research since this? I was setting up for the free training and one of the videos shows that some of the exercises use 4 times your body weight for 5 seconds and you have to sign a waiver. I have heard people around me have had good success, but this honestly scares me. When I asked about their vibration plate and if they use low intensity, they said most people want higher, but they can turn it down. I am thinking of canceling. I don't want to get caught in the middle of a high-pressure marketing session.

    I had a L5 S1 fusion since my last dexa, the tech did do an added foream to my scan a few days ago. Results of scan show worsening spine but improved hip. Should I question this? The tech did call in someone to look at the images while I was being scanned because she felt like the hardware may have been causing an issue? It was done at a radiology center on the same machine used 3 years ago. I was told recently I have a mild thoracic scoliosis since last scan as well. 11% decrease in lumbar!?

      No way for me to know unless I reviewed the scans. If you did lose 11% in three years that is very significant. Bone turnover markers - CTX and P1NP would be helpful and also, if true other tests to see if there is a cause. You should get a second opinion on the scans. A comparison of my DEXA scans before and after one year of Osteostrong showed that I gained 8.6% bone density in one hip, 3.3% in the other hip, and 3.9% in my spine. As a result, one hip is no longer osteoporotic. Another friend with osteoporosis had similar results using Osteostrong for only 7 months, also confirmed by pre- and post-Osteostrong DEXA scans. Neither of us are franchise owners or investors. Neither of us take osteoporosis medications. Just people working to reverse our own osteoporosis.

    For those that care to know, let me share my personal experience. So far I have done 35 sessions in osteostrong since last February and I can attest that it is a scam indeed. I do not have osteoporosis, but I went there because I have osteoarthritic knee pain and back pain from herniated discs on multiple levels. They told me it would help. However, I did NOT gain any muscle strength, my bones didn't become stronger/denser, my pain did not diminish, etc. They push you hard to meet some targets like we are preparing for the Olympics. IMHO, osteostrong is for moderately healthy individuals, it is not a therapy or a healing modality like people think it is. It is an alternative workout to weight training for fit and athletic people. It is by no means a replacement for physical therapy or rehab for injured people. If you have injuries, do not even attempt it, stay away. The majority of people who work there are not medical professionals, some are former fitness coaches or athletes and might have familiarity with basic physical therapy but not all. They want your money and do not care much about your health. My two cents.

    I follow multiple older women on IG etc who have been able to reverse bone disease with exercise. I think an important thing here is applaud this exercise program simply for keeping people doing something to keep moving and stay strong as they age to decrease fall risks. In the circles I hang out in, that is almost more important than anything else. The medications they prescribe for osteoporosis are not without risks either. My dad was an orthopedic surgeon and had nothing good to say about the bone meds. What is sad is that medical standard is women don’t even get to have density testing until 65 or older. I personally had go to three different doctors just to get a test earlier - my argument was I had a hysterectomy in my 40s and started menopause early and because of that was concerned about bone health. I got the test And guess what - I have some osteopenia even tho I run and exercise regularly and have a job that keeps me on my feet and lifting etc every day. I’ve taken the route of more resistance training and further changed my diet and stopped calcium pills (which were causing what I was told was the beginning of kidney stones) and focus on dietary calcium sources and no meds. I have my 2 year density test in two weeks. Will see if it stabilized or how it changed. There needs to be education across the board about diet exercise and the risks of oral calcium pills and osteopenia meds. Put it all on the table. Self advocate for your health. There’s no one magic solution. But if this program gets people moving that by itself is important and better that nothing at all.

    When we look at osteoporosis through a western model treated with ineffective medicine we see it as a condition to be managed not reversed. That is my problem with the western model. These conditions can be reversed when we address it with a holistic approach. Proper nutrition and supplementation alone can make a difference, add an appropriate weight routine and I believe this is possible. What is practiced is typically from research that is years behind. Can we start looking at more data and address the root issues so we can change chronic conditions, vs tell someone to stop moving their spine leading to more problems, pain and injury. More research is needed, I hope this program changes the way we look at osteoporosis and allows us to research other models.

    • @DoctorLani
      @DoctorLani Před 5 měsíci

      I am with you that nutrition, GI health exercise etc. that should be the base treatment for any osteoporosis patient. However, I deal with women who have very fragile bones - some in their 40's and 50's. One patient I am dealing with now has pregnancy and lactation osteoporosis and then a 12 year old boy that has fractured 8 vertebra. FIRST, people need to be diagnosed correctly. Not just Western doctors are simply treating a bone density test and not the patient, but doctors from all over the world. Then we have Integrative doctors that do not know how to fully evaluate a patient to diagnose individually either. I think if you read my book or joined my masterclass you would see that we are aligned regarding the need for proper nutrition etc. I myself was diagnosed in my 40's. natural methods including low dose bio-identical hormones have kept me going well and I also know my trabecular bone score (see video interview with Didier Hans) which is high - meaning my bones can absorb some impact. That said, now at 74 still with osteoporosis and the TBS and bone turnover markers indicate bone loss and quality going down. Many who have normal bone density and fracture easily due to bone quality. Then there is genetics and that too can play a huge roll in some cases.

    • @DoctorLani
      @DoctorLani Před 6 měsíci

      Because I can't discuss every topic. If you have read my book you would know that I am a proponent of diagnosis and proper treatment that sometimes may be no medications. However, if someone gets a fracture sneezing that is another matter. Keep in mind, that for some, not taking a medication can result in serious side effects. Always, nutrition, GI health and exercise are the base treatment.

    These numbers of course are the averages. That means there were some of the 11 subjects who had more and some who had less. After reading the comments here some who have done Osteostrong and had no improvement so that means some zeros must have been averaged in. This then means that there must be many in the study who had improvements in the 20-30% range. Is that possible?

    Good to know!! To be perfectly honest, EVERY time I have to see a doctor or am sent for a test I tend to fret. MISTAKES happen, and in the medical profession, they happen a LOT - Now more than ever, because they are short staffed, and simply don't have time to CARE, while the drug companies make a killing out of SCARing in stead, by running all kinds of ads. telling people they might be at risk for this & that!! I've also noticed that if a person is normally HEALTHY & not over weight, (here in the US) they are in a different category these days, because the general "one size / attitude fits all" going, puts us in a different "rare species" category!? I practice listening to my body, Wholistic Health, Yoga, precaution over cure, vitamins over meds., use moderation & common sense, and am in good health - but anything unusual on my yearly exam scares the crap out of me. I usually avoid extra / unnecessary tests but go for what's needed. A Bone Density is required, as I'm experiencing occasional aches & pains in my aging joints, so I'm having one done, just to know. IF PROBLEMS SHOULD SHOW IN MY TEST, I WILL BE SURE TO GET A SECOND OPENION FROM AN EXPERT, RATHER THAN RELY ON WHAT'S SAID. THANKS FOR THE INFO!! 🙏Namaste From USA!!

    I've been on Prolia for 5 years and have just recently found out that it shouldn't be used any longer than 5 or 6 years but I'll be subject to bone fractures by stopping. I've never had a fracture, lift weights 5 days a week, drink only water and maintain a healthy diet. I'm not sure what is my next step. My doctor hasn't ever mentioned anything about getting off Prolia or had any other discussion about alternatives if needed. My last score was-2.5 in lumbar region. I just had both hips replaced in July and October 2023.

    Dr. Lani - would love to know your feedback on the new studies coming out in Greece by OsteoStrong and an update to your "Medical Review". More importantly would love to have you make a video of you visiting an OsteoStrong Location showing people what the process entails and how doing so could not possibly 1) Stop 2) prevent 3) reverse Osteoporosis to Osteopenia, and / or Osteopenia back to normal? Also, could you address why many people are claiming improvement in balance and strength * Therefore reducing the risk of a fall / fracture? That would be most helpful to your audience. I do believe they would provide a complimentary session. Good luck to everyone.

      Been there done that - OS does improve balance - I can also improve balance without paying for it. The people claiming to have increased bone density offer written reports that are not typically done by trained densitometrists. Maybe watch the video again to gain more insight.

      @@DoctorLani Once again you are generalizing and making blanket statements. Please consider this behavior to be treading on dangerous ground because you might be discouraging someone from checking it out for themselves - which could potentially be life saving - and you can also be influencing someone to just take medication, which could have life threatening side effects. Having said that, just like medication, it can work for some and not for others (that's why there are OPTIONS). What your audience should understand as well is that at some point medicine was "experimental" and those who chose to try it - well you know what happens. I think what would be more valuable to your audience is not me reviewing your video for more "insight". On the contrary, it would be a more valuable to your audience is truly providing an unbiased review with proof for why it could work, or could not work for some. Also giving them information like the new research that is coming out from Greece, the fact that their whole franchise is based on research and date from Dr. Wolffe a German Anatomist and "Wolff's Law". As far as I know, his research and work are not a "scam" or a rip off. If the modality proves to be too expensive for most people, I feel sorry for them. Budgeting for your health and wellness should be everyone's top priority, as it only gets more expensive the more you age. Good luck everyone.

    I got my first Reclast infusion for osteoporosis and I had a server reactions chills, feaver jaw and server back and ribs felt like I was beat up and I couldn’t hardly breathe! that my doctor had me on prednisone and I am still feeling the symptoms! that lasted for almost 2 weeks! I can’t do another infusion!

    • @DoctorLani
      @DoctorLani Před 7 měsíci

      Sounds like you had an acute severe reaction. So sorry this happened to you. When this medication is necessary people should be prepared - hydration for days before, making sure vitamin D is at 45 ng/mL for the previous 6 weeks and calcium - 1,500 mg/day from all sources. If either of these are low then an acute reaction is more possible because Reclast can significantly lower serum calcium and we need vitamin D to metabolize calcium. There is no free lunch and we have to make decisions regarding risk and benefits. If you have had low trauma fractures then the suffering now may prevent a more serious suffering later on. Thank you for taking the time to post.
