Exploring the underground on a Can-Am Spyder! Sounds like an epic adventure! We sent you an email, take a look.
On my recent trip I figured out that the GPS temperature is only as accurate as a weather service on my phone is reporting for somewhere near my location. I suspect is is usually the last place I went through for which there was a thermometer. So if I'm way out in the country, the temp is being reported for a location that is somewhere else. And it can be way off. Right now I'm just figuring the indicated air intake temp on the Spyder temp minus 7-8 degrees is probably close to actual ambient temp.
It’s so odd that both GPS and the Spyder can be so far off.
Chris, that was crystal clear so much so, I felt like I was actually there! The Go Pro seemed to handle the light differences in the Tunnel very well, so its a thumbs up from me. 👍
I think I found the sweet spot in terms of camera settings. Thanks for noticing.
Cool idea, thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
We just drove the same route about 1.5 hrs after you heading to the cruise terminal. It was a nice ride but we did it in our truck. The ride on the Kankamankus Hwy from one end to the other on a Spyder is awesome. Quality of the video is very good.
How ironic! I’m back in Niagara Falls now but I loved my 24 hours in New Hampshire.
I agree they should out source the display and music.
Now that was pretty cool going through that tunnel! Looking forward to your NH videos, it is a gorgeous region! Cheers Chris
The 3 wheel safety course I took, recommended having your headlights on the bright setting during the day to increase your being seen. I didn't notice your bright light setting icon showing up. Just a thought.
Really like this camera setting. The ND filter was very good, in the tunnel was fine, but especially when exiting the tunnel. Beautiful views, as usual!
Thank you!
I did the tunnel last year, mid-day and with the traffic. Yeah won't do that again.🤣🤣
I like this camera setting, as someone mentioned before me. I dont know about 60 fps though, do you need it to get this? I though 60 was more for if you wanted to do slow motion. Anyway, looking forward to next as usual. Cheers from Sweden
Looks like things are on the change in the US?
My favorite camera settings so far. I appreciate being able to see the speedometer and RPM's. Thanks for all the content!
Glad you enjoy it!
As a fellow Spyder rider, I’ve been enjoying your experiences on the Spyder! Thx for cleaning the windshield 😆👍 Be safe out there!
Thanks for watching!
Is that a Carpuride device or a Garmin XT?
Garmin Zumo XT.
@@SpyderMinimalist thanks for the reply. I’m currently debating between the XT and XT2.
I'd seen a similar comment in a forum that said to line obstacles up with your knees. Not sure if that is because the knee is slightly more centered between rear and front tire or just a variant on the foot idea. I do think that the ryder might be better able to sense where his/her foot is than the knee. I'll give it a try. Thanks.
As long as you’re trying to keep the floor boards away from the obstacle, it should work.
After hearing all these points i decided not to think about it 😅😅👌
I’ve got 7,000 miles on it now, and I love it. It has its little issues, but overall, I’m very happy with it.
@@SpyderMinimalist i had 23000 miles on my 1250 gsa = 0 issues Currently mlt v4 rally reaching 5000 miles=0 issues Was thinking of 3 weheels because of my wife saw it and liked it but for me its a no especially after checking few videos and reliability issues Enjoy ur beautiful 3 wheeler bro and drive safe 👌
I must be the only person who doesn't there back rest
I had to adjust mine far forward, but I really like it.
Another great video Chris, with beautiful scenery. As a cyclist we used to come across areas that ‘looked’ like a descent but GPS (and legs) indicated we were still climbing. We called those ‘false flats’. 😄
Interesting! I must be hitting the false flats as well.
The views are great especially the lakes. I think the ND filters have made a real difference to the quality of the shots and your voice over is also very good Chis. Keep em coming loving it. 😎
Thank you!
Get it!!!!! I am a first timer. I just got a rt limited. Super fun!!!!!!!🎉
Congratulations! I almost have 7,000 miles on mine and love it!

Midwest motto: There's no such thing as bad weather. There is only bad clothes.
I like it.
Chris, two things you mentioned caught my attention. If you don’t have mesh gear, you should find some. Mine is black. I think next time I will see if I can find something in a sand color to reduce heat absorption when you aren’t moving fast. It looks like you have a dedicated gps unit. I recently purchased a Carpuride because I got tired of not being able to able to see the screen on hot days. It appears that for thermal reasons the software reduces the screen illumination. I use an iPhone, but I assume this would happen with android also. Thanks for another great video. Tim
I have an AlpineStars mesh jacket, but it is also black. At a certain point, the mesh just doesn’t matter. Like you, I wish I had a lighter color. I’m still learning the Garmin Zumo XT, but the anti glare screen is such an improvement over my iPhone.
Very good point about the temperatures not matching on the most modern equipment we have… but global warming is happening because we went from mercury bulb readings to digital readings… you may want to get a mercury bulb thermometer to carry around. Or even better a twisted spring thermometer…
This is the area I grew up in. Some of my family own resorts and homes there. I live in Michigan, so I only get back there a couple times a year.
Such a beautiful place.
The Lake George area is simply beautiful, especially on route 9N. I am going there in September for SpyderQuest. It will be my first ever Spyder rally. Cheers Chris!
Enjoy! Ride safe.
What date is Spyder quest? I’ll be at LG in September.
Shawn Smoak did a vlog on the Spyder temp sensor not read correct temp and how to move it to a better position as it was to close to the radiator's.
I’ll have to try and find that video.
Another great video Chris. I do have a suggestion for an upcoming video. I'd be really interested in how you wash and clean your Spyder since it's your main transportation.
That would make a good topic for a video. I’ll add it to the lineup. Thanks!
Chris, you need a mesh jacket with armor. I'd suggest the Bohn shell with armor - down here in Texas, I have three similar jackets in different colors. BTW, the temp on your Spyder will be higher than what your phone or GPS show as your engine is running h9t and adding to the heat the sensor is registering. Beautiful ride - I miss upstate NY sometimes as I lived in Rochester from 1983 to 1995.
I have an AlpineStars mesh jacket, but sometimes it’s still too hot for it. I will check out the Bohn products.
You are lucky, you can drive yours spider! Sorry you had such a bad experience. I hope you find a machine that performs well for you.
I have been to top many time when I go to Americade in Lake George, but when I had my Harley and Gold Wings but not with the Spyder yet, and hope to do that this summer sometime. I only live a hour from Old Forge and have been there many times. I have the same GPS and have to figure hour to get the temp to show up. Good video.
I’m still learning the Zumo XT.
Chris why not let the GoPro do automatic exposure after you run the ND filter? You may have addressed this before but I missed it if you did. Also an ND polarizer filter would be my first choice but I use DJI or Inst360 cameras as I’ve had bad experiences with GoPro
I enjoy your videos. Please edit out your credit cards.
I cancelled that card as soon as someone pointed out my mistake. Thanks for watching!
I have a Sedicci jacket. Same issue with the zipper. Drives me nuts.
Great video Chris. About your jacket. First off, anyone telling you that is the way they do zippers in Europe is either ill informed, or just coming up with something, or lie. First, let us debunk something. Europe is not a country, it is a continent.. The other Europe, The European Union, is also not a country, it is a zone of free trade and movement. And even if EU has a parliament that tries to make laws about what size strawberries have to be to legally be sold as strawberries, the EU will never be a United States of Europe because from Sweden and Finland in the north, Spain and Cyprus in the south, we are very very different in our ways, cultures, traditions, way of thinking. One should NEVER say, that is how they do in Europe, because even if people do one thing in Netherlands, Belgium, France and Spain, does not mean that is how one do in Bulgaria or Sweden. Back to the zipper side, I would say, in most countries, and maybe all, we do just like in USA, where female pull the zipper on the left, and men on the right. In that sense, your jacket is a female zippered jacket. ig deal. Also, remember that in todays economies, many clothing items are sewn in asia, as well as a few other low cost countries. I have worked with production quality for 22 years, the last 6 of them in textile industry as the quality manager, including cut & sew processes. I know that failure happens, or delivery issues. It is very likely that the production process put a lady zipper on your jacket, perhaps on a whole batch of that size before anyone discovered it. And by then they might have had 80 jackets of size XL that was not reworkable because the seam allowance were already cut off. Instead of scrapping tens of thousands of dollars because of a left side zipper, someone with authority to do so, someone like me, would log the incident and let it pass under deviation approval. My guess here is the latter. I once bought a Ariat jacket at Boot Barn that had the same issue, it was definatly a mens jacket. Now, depending on what kind of zipper it is. It might be able to turn around. Someone good with sewing and zippers might be able to open the tab and switch the side for you. I would go to one of them local seamstresses and ask. Sometimes it cant be done, sometimes it is a 2 minute job. Sidenote. The modern style zipper was invented by a Swedish immigrant in America in 1909 called Gideon Sundbäck (means Sound, like the water between 2 pieces of land) and Bäck means smaller creek. It was patented in US in 1917.
Great video Chris!
Another great video with great vistas, thanks Chris,
Good timing. Was supposed to go up there last month but had to postpone. Did Mt Washington last year on bike. Got great weather (for once )at top.
Mount Washington was awesome! Video scheduled for end of month.
Just a quick constructive tips as it could be very interesting to get a Google Map snapshot of where you took the videos? So your followers will be able to get an idea of where. Regards!
That’s a great idea. I’ve scheduled videos through early August, but after that I’ll try to incorporate maps showing my travels. Thanks!
Thanks, Chris, for another awesome video. I have a jacket with a zipper that is backward, and it drives me nuts.
The Can-Am spyder f3 s can accelerate that fast
What gps are you using?
Garmin Zumo XT.
@@SpyderMinimalist thanks for the reply. Thinking of getting the xt2 but seems complicated compared to my old zumo 660.
Your card is on the CZcams..
I know, someone messaged me. Thanks.
Beautiful views!
Ginger is really good for seasickness.
I love passing vehicles on my 2019 Spyder. I does great. St you speed of 44 mph you should drop two gears and grab the throttle and hang on. You’d be surprised how quickly you can pass. The gearing compensates for less horsepower. Your jacket is a European type hence the reversed zipper. It is NOT a women’s jacket
Video is occasionally blurry when the camera records through the windshield
I’ve changed settings for my next series of videos. The next two scheduled videos will look like this one, but then, starting with my New Hampshire videos, I think you’ll see improvement.
Still has blurry moments compared to 60fps, but significantly better, on a 70" TV screen! Love the video though!!!!
I’m shooting videos in New Hampshire using 60fps, and I think it will be a big improvement.
