Building Simple Body Mounts
zhlédnutí 1KPřed 5 měsíci
Today’s major task is to securely mount the body to the frame. This is the first step in handling the steering setup for the car. While we put these simple mounts together, we swapped out the front brakes, exchanged the Model T headlights for some original paint BLC headlights, and adjust the mounting position of the split ‘37 Ford front wishbones.
Building hot rod rear axle radius rods
zhlédnutí 1,7KPřed 6 měsíci
Today in the shop, we tackle the job of building radius rods for the rear axle. We convert the original 1937 rear torque tube supports into radius rods. These will properly support the rear axle equipped with an open driveshaft planned in the near future.
Building crossmember gussets: A proper excuse for more speed holes
zhlédnutí 2,8KPřed 6 měsíci
Today in the shop, we finalize the design of the transmission crossmember that will strengthen the chassis and also support the rear radius rods.
Building a crossmember for an early ford 3 speed
zhlédnutí 1,1KPřed 7 měsíci
Today in the shop, we make great progress on the RPU chassis. After tacking in the rear axle spring perch, we build out our transmission crossmember to both support the transmission, and verify the location of the F1 ford brake and clutch pedals.
Flathead Ford Distributor setting points and initial advance Pt.2
zhlédnutí 4,4KPřed 8 měsíci
Today in the shop, we pick up where we left off with the distributor on the Flathead. We set our points gap, and use our newly developed timing tool to set our initial advance, then test it out on the flathead. Interested in purchasing a timing tool? They’re available for $30 shipped anywhere in the US. Follow this link: paypal.me/Thehotrodworkshop?country.x=US&locale.x=en_US Send: $30 In the “...
Flathead install and splitting wishbones
zhlédnutí 1,4KPřed 9 měsíci
After a long day of finish welding the frame, we install the flathead ford engine and trans. Then we split the wishbones off the 37’ ford front axle assembly
Building a Hotrod frame from scratch
zhlédnutí 40KPřed 11 měsíci
Over the course of a few days, we bit the bullet and built a brand new frame for project “TeeBurn”. We chip away at some 2x4 3/16 thick steel to form a familiar shape to hot rodding. This brings us one step closer to piecing together a really cool roadster pickup!
Firing up the Flathead Ford
zhlédnutí 1,7KPřed rokem
Over the past few months, we’ve been chipping away at this 1939 Ford to get it prepared to run. After properly setting it up on the stand, we inspected, cleaned, adjusted and rebuilt what was necessary to confidently fire it up. One large piece of the puzzle is set in place.
Flathead Ford distributor adapt and rebuild : part 1
zhlédnutí 7KPřed rokem
Today in the shop, we rebuild a 1946-1948 Ford flathead distributor. We discuss the evolution of distributors on Flatheads through the years, dissect our 46’-48’ core, clean reusable parts and replace all wear items. Tune in for “part2” when we prepare the distributor to factory settings, adapt to our 1939 flathead and more!
Making a Flathead engine stand adapter
zhlédnutí 1,3KPřed rokem
Today in the shop, we finally get the 59A off the floor and safely mounted on the engine stand.
Project TeeBurn: Cowl vent removal
zhlédnutí 628Před rokem
Today in the shop, we cut out the rotted cowl vent and patch the hole with new 18g sheet metal

Project Teeburn: Donor door patch panel
zhlédnutí 413Před rokem
Today in the shop, we make one good model T door out of two bad ones. We make a patch panel out of a donor passenger side door to replace the rotted lower section of our original mock up door. Interested in a coffee mug? Please send $30, your name and address to The Hot Rod Workshop on PayPal through this link www.paypal.com/paypalme/thehotrodworkshop We appreciate all of your support, thank you!
Project Teeburn: Hanging the drivers side door
zhlédnutí 384Před rokem
Today in the shop, we make a ton of progress on the roadster pickup. First, we tack in the finished edge for the rear section of the body. Then, we support the drivers side of the body with an “A” pillar, brace the door opening, and modify some old Model T touring rear door hinges.

I have never seen a Fish carb, if so economical, why are they not available.? On the other hand, have always regarded the S.U. carb, as the work of a genius.!

Nice piece of tech on the set up of these distributors, both parts 1 & 2. You might also have mentioned that after setting the points gap, remember to re-tighten the screws on the points mounting plate, though most folks probably already assumed that step.

Why is a ballast resistor needed?

    • @billchuplis9460
      @billchuplis9460 Před měsícem

A resistor (ballast, resistor wire or coil with built-in resistance) is needed because stock point coils are designed to work at 6v (nominal, 7.4v reality). Due to higher compression engine then they had in the early1950's, the coil does receive 12v when the starter switch is in the start position. When it springs back to the run position only 6v gets delivered to the coil.

The photocell one of the ignition wire falls off the spark plug and has nowhere to discharge to it'll burn out your photo cell and you'll have to buy a new one my suggestion is not buying that one Mallory

  • @nathanrice1796
    @nathanrice1796 Před 5 měsíci

The reason for the dual point ignition is to increase the "dwell" time, which allows more current to flow through the coil primary, which allows the coil to output a higher voltage spark, allowing you to increase the plug gap and increase engine power.

That master has to be for drum / drum if that what you're running due to the residual valves in the outlets. If it's a disk / drum it will have the wrong residual valve on the front outlet. Propositioning valves are talked about a lot but most people dont even know what residual valves are.
