Project Teeburn: Donor door patch panel

  • Today in the shop, we make one good model T door out of two bad ones. We make a patch panel out of a donor passenger side door to replace the rotted lower section of our original mock up door.

    Awesome episode my friend! Me, not being a good metal guy, wonder why the welds need to be hammered?

      Thanks buddy! TIG welding thin sheet has a tendency to shrink the metal from the process heat. I hammer dolly the weld area to counter that shrink while the metal is hot and easily stretched. In this particular situation, since the area required a heat shrink with the torch to level the metal, I probably could have left it alone.
