I dont understand the point that macro elements can be obtain from fish food, waste, plant decay? So we have lots of fish and plants. Do we need only micro elements?
Wow you need more likes! Thank you for making this video 😊
I worked at a state park, and the fish tank there used pond water, but the reason was because everything in there was from the park’s pond so was serving to display for educational/awareness purposes
Great job but I'm still worried about the fact you cracked it, how did you get on with fixing the crack 👍
Food chain dude ,,,,algae is the bottom of the food chain which is why scuds predominately eat algae being that they're a prey species ....!
What fish are you keeping with them and how big is your tank?
im gonna have a cat tomorrow
Congrats - you're gonna have lots of fun!
All the regrets with duckweed. Finally purged it from my rack.
🤣 I feel like you deserve an award for purging the duckweed. That's no easy task!
@@freshflowaquatics It was definitely not easy. Was able to remove it from 2 tanks manually but the 3rd I had to tear down completely. It was due for a rescape so I was okay with it thoughz
Did u get your new 75?
Ohhh yeah!!! The tank Henry is drinking out of has the fish from the old 75 and ive been slowly adding them in now that it's cycled. Maybe do a video on that in a month!
@@freshflowaquatics awesome
Great video.I use a spray bar which is set so the water flows upwards.Do you think the flow would be better going through the middle or facing downward.
Thanks! An advantage to pointing it up is that it can agitate the surface and oxygenate water. On the downside, I think that loses some of the turbulence doing it that way. I usually point it in the middle to get some kind of circular flow to allow for more debris to get pushed into the filter.
@@freshflowaquatics Thank you.Funnily enough i moved it into that position last night.
That tuna water hit different 😂
🤣🤣🤣 new Bubly flavor
Amazing😁
Thanks 😆
When I was removing silicone from the bottom of a 40 gallon, I noticed the razor blade accidentally went between the two panes of glass. Is the process shown in this video still sufficient for keeping it together?
Oh no, I'm sorry to hear that. That's not a good thing to happen, since it can compromise structural integrity. You'll probably want to take all the glass apart and rebuild at this point.
Thanks, very helpful video. Planning on adding 12 of them to my tank either today or tomorrow, wish me luck
Appreciate the comment! Hope the new fish settle in well and you enjoy them 😊
make sure the salt is not iodized salt
I did use iodized salt since I couldn't find my reef salt. It seemed to work fine though. Am I missing something?
Beautiful healthy balanced tank. Which light are you using please?
I agree, great explanation. Super helpful thank you!
Thanks so much, appreciate you dropping a comment too!
how do you get such lush growth??
Strong light, CO2 and fertilizer. It's not the only way to grow plants, but by supplying plants with essentially an unlimited supply of stuff they need to grow, they can max out. It would be really hard to get such a thick carpet without all three.
Great explanation
Thanks, glad to have helped.
What filter is that ?
It's the Marineland Magniflow 220 - fairly cheap canister filter that gets the job done -> amzn.to/3XyT6Gu
thanks for the info!
Hope it was helpful!
Duckweed it what makes my tank pop I can't live without my live plants!!!!
AGREED on the live plants!
Why didn't you reseal the bottom silicon? I hear everywhere that silicon doesn't stick to silicon. Your new layer of silicone, may peel off from old one with time, no?
I didn't reseal the bottom because the silicone was still in great condition. I learned to do this from someone years ago and should have talked about it more in the video. Reseal the bottom for the greatest durability. It's not likely to peel, but I suppose water could get in there, granted I feel good about how the shape of the reseal. It has been a little over a year now that it's been filled with water FYI. Good question!
Get some Siamese algae eaters get baby’s tho because they only eat algae pretty much they can also eat BBA and pretty much all types of algae but they do grow up to 6 inches long and don’t mix them up with flying foxes please 🙏
Thanks for the advice! I used to have them and they were terrific cleaners while they were younger. Like you said, as they got older all they looked for was fish food .. and cherry shrimp!!!
You literally have nematodes that’s the problem it’s on the video
Those are planaria, which were wiped out and didn't make a difference in the shrimp population. Also, I have my reservations about how bad they are for shrimp. I've seen them interacting around each other on many occasions without praying on the shrimp... Including in this tank and a lot of the shrimp tanks at my LFS. Regardless, I've read enough accounts of bad stories about them so I get rid of them the times I've seen them.
This is the 1st vid that helped me understand how to hatch and clean the shrimp thank you❤️
You're welcome! Glad it was helpful. Thanks for dropping a comment! 😊
Hey welcome to the club, come on in and make some room. unfortunately the duckweed takes up most of the space.. Lol
🤣 Space available briefly every other Tuesday after water changes
It looks good a little bit of duckweed but it just grows to fast. I won't be getting it for my tank
Lol, there's never a bit of duckweed
Duckweed (Lemna minor), also known as water lens or bayroot, is a fast-growing, low-maintenance freshwater plant and an extremely popular choice for ponds and freshwater aquariums. This floating aquatic plant features tiny fronds in vibrant shades of bright green with contrasting hints of purple underneath. This portion of duckweed grows rapidly and helps any aquatic set-up more closely imitate the natural habitat of water-dwelling animals, offering a nutritious and protein-loaded food source while also contributing to a more secure and enjoyable environment for your aquatic life. Real duckweed features dainty-looking fronds that grow in dense colonies and provide plenty of hiding places for small invertebrates and fish. Create an enchanting display with duckweed by spreading its multitude of tiny pods across the top of your tank's water to create an impressive cover of naturally stunning greenery. Not only is duckweed visually appealing, but it is also proven to improve water quality by reducing pollutants that cause smelly or cloudy tank water. It performs this feat by absorbing waste, including ammonia and nitrates, which results in happier pond or aquarium inhabitants! Duckweed is an exceptional choice for beginners, as it does not require special equipment, care, or knowledge. Duckweed is incredibly easy to maintain and can thrive even in low-light set-ups, although more light means faster and denser growth.
Did u copy paste that or not bc that's alot of info...
Thanks for dropping some info!

What carpet do you have? And advice on carepeting plants
I used Monte Carlo, that's a great one to go for!
Sorry, forgot to give advice. Most carpeting plants need decent light. While CO2 isnt a requirement, it does help a lot. If you don't have or want to get CO2, then a good one to try is pygmy chain sword. That can grow pretty well with strong lighting and nutrition.
After watching this video i ended up getting 3 mods for it, Thanks for the heads up. The tank you have at 7:51 (intake grates) is so good looking. I am going to try to recreate something like that in my tank, obviously with my own flair. Well done.
That's great to hear, I'll have to let Adam know. They are such terrific products. Thanks so much on the Stargate aquarium! I'm glad to have inspired, feel free to copy as much as you want. Had to hack back at plants yesterday, had a problem with hair algae 😩

I have been looking for information on this very topic for the past few days! Thank you so much for the wonderful episode! Greetings!
Hey, thanks for dropping another comment @vassetz , appreciate you supporting the channel! Hopefully the video was helpful! Deep dive on the topic coming next week 😊
They make my shrimp population drop and decimate my plants
Oh no, sorry to hear that. I did a follow up video reflecting on almost a year or so with scuds. I did not notice any decrease in plant mass, but I did notice that they decreased my shrimp population. There was still shrimp breeding occurring, but it was far and few... A lot harder to keep up with my bloody marry genetics with such low breeding rate.
Hey intank makes media baskets for fluvals
Great to know, thanks! I believe Fish Guild Corp makes them as well.
my cory suddenly got white spot this past days, what treatment should i do to cure them?
Oh no, I'm sorry to hear that. I'd bump the temp up to around 80 and use some meds. I've noticed that since cories spend a lot of time on the bottom, where they can pick ich up, they tend to have a hard time shaking ich without medicine. I do like Fritz meds, but whatever is available at your local fish store will probably work. Hopefully this is helpful!
Do you keep track of your pH, GH and KH levels?
I like that you zoomed in on where not to scrape, helps a lot.
Happy to help. I thought that part was nifty, thanks for commenting!
Thanks a lot. The table you made was really helpful 🙏
No problem! Glad the video and table were helpful, thanks for dropping a comment 😊
Also goldfish! You cannot keep them with goldfish I just found out…
I didn't know that, thanks for sharing! Is it cause the goldfish will try to eat them and get spined in the throat?
@@freshflowaquatics yeah and depending on the size of the goldfish they could choke on the smaller fish and well…die. I’m not 100% sure it’s true but when I had my Cory’s in the same tank with the goldfish they were very stressed cause the goldfish were chasing them away from the bottom of the tank.
GlossoFactory Low Tech ive been using for the past 2 mos.
I've never heard of that, I'll have to check it out. Thanks for sharing!
How did this turn out? Silicone will not bond to already cured silicone, when resealing a tank, ALL silicone needs to be scraped.
Been full for just shy of a year and it's holding strong. Thanks for the advice.

Don’t hatch mosquito larvae. Hatch the thousands of other chronomids that don’t spread disease
I think you mean Chironomids? Mosquitoes are actually in the family Cullicidae. Even though they have an aquatic larval stage, they aren't Chironomids. Also, if you watch the full video I talk about the fact that mosquitoes are disease vectors and containers need to be emptied frequently to prevent any adults from emerging. There are also regulations in some areas, so depending on where you live this might not be legal. How would I just hatch Chironomids? If possible, I would love to give it a shot.
Does the substrate always have to be in a bag or can it just go into the tank for the plants? How do you know which plants need a lot of light or not? I’d love to do an aquascape just don’t know where to start, but I’ve been watching some of your videos and they help although I should take notes I forget very easily lol.
No, the substrate doesn't always have to be in a bag. If you plan to use sand on top, it's nice to have the soil in a bag that way it doesn't get all mixed in with the sand - mostly an aesthetic thing. Or time save if you plan to try and keep soil off sand. Trust me, that gets very tedious 🤣 You can check this site out - tropica.com/en/plants.aspx - while you are shopping for plants. When you see one you like, look at the alphabetical list and see if it's listed as easy, medium or hard. The easy ones don't need a ton of light or care. That being said, some trial and error is part of the game, so don't feel bad if some of your plants don't make it, especially if it's your first aquascape. The tank below is a very easy setup, similar style to the one you just watched. I only use Pogostemon stellatus octopus in that tank because it's very hardy, meaning it grows well in a variety of conditions. In my opinion, the easiest way to start is to find a tank that you like and try to replicate it. A tank like this video would be good since it's not a hard setup and is relatively budget friendly. If it goes well and you enjoy the process, you can work on a more complicated aquascape in the future! czcams.com/video/yeZ3lBlRXyg/video.html
@@freshflowaquatics awesome! Thank you so much for the help and extra information!
@@cassandradeangelo4967 No problem, let me know if you have other questions. Hope you have fun setting up the tank!
@@freshflowaquatics Me again, sorry! Haha If I am only doing floating plants for now, do I need to add substrate to the bottom of the tank?
@@cassandradeangelo4967 Hey, no worries! If you are only doing floating plants you don't need any substrate at all. You could do some sand or even bare glass.
