I am Thai You are a traveler and you did a great job presenting this video. Northeastern region of Thailand People here are very cheerful. They live a simple life in harmony with nature. They have a tradition of worshiping and praying for seasonal rain from the Deva. This tradition has been around for thousands of years and is an ancient tradition in the northeastern part of Thailand that is very beautiful. The word “Boon Bong Fire” “Boon” or “Boonya” or “Phoonya” is Pali language = merit or good deeds. and The word “Bong Fire” = a bong or bamboo bong filled with gunpowder lit on fire or a "rocket fire".

I live 30 minutes away from Yasothon and definitely visitors seeking a unique experience of Isaan culture should visit Yasothon for the rocket festival which lasts 3-4 days. You can easily fly from Bangkok to Roet city or Ubon Ratchathani airports but then its another 30 minute taxi drive to Yasothon city. You can also take a 9 hour bus ride from Bangkok to Yasothon city. Note!!!! Hotels are limited and get booked up 4-5 months before the rocket festival in May. There are plenty of old temples and countryside to visit also. Yes, there are "boutique" coffee cafes and restaurants that serve Western food, not only Isaan dishes. Locals may not understand English but are very friendly. Great video btw covering the highlights of the festival.
I watched this video at the wrong time. 😢 it made me feel hungry. By the way, did you taste the noodle soup first before seasoning? To do that, you'll have two different flavors of noodle and see which one you like better.

I worked/lived in Bangkok for 16 years. I am now retired in Roiet province. (2 hours from Ubon Ratchathani) What a breath of fresh air. A well managed city and clean. People in Isaan are so patient and friendly with "farangs".
