“Honor the LORD”… It is a Core Value by Pastor C.Peter Chandran, God’s Minister APRIL 2024 MONTHLY NEWS LETTER Honour means glory, prestige, esteem, respect or recognition. It is the bestowal of dignity or recognition. Honour is a seed. “hadar”= “honour” is to give respect. The Holy Bible refers to ascribing honour to God in the context of praise or worship. “Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, to God who alone is wise, be honour and glory forever and ever. Amen”(1.Tim.1:17). The King ever living and ever able to redeem, One who will never see decay or corruption; One Who cannot be seen but Who works everywhere; One Who possesses wisdom above any creature, including man; One Who is to be respected, honoured, and glorified forever. Who is God? He is • The King Eternal, • Immortal, • Invisible, • God Who alone is wise. All should honour the Son Jesus just as they honour God the Father. We should honour God in the sense of worshipping and reverencing Him in a right spirit. Jesus honoured His Father. God also honours His faithful servants. A faithful son honours his father. God’s people are required to give honour to their parents. We should give honour to our parents. We should give honour to widows, who are to be treated kindly and with respect. Respect for the king or emperor is also demanded. H onor the LORD Honor means love. Righteousness brings reward. It is not a mechanical guarantee of cause and effect. Rather, it is like sowing and reaping. Giving respect brings respect. It is a general law built in the nature of God. “Honor the LORD with your possessions, and with the first fruits of all your increase; so your barns will be filled with plenty, and your vats will overflow with new wine”(Proverbs 3:9,10) Honor the LORD means loving the LORD, serving the LORD. Love gives something precious. God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son Jesus. We should give our Tithes and Offerings to the LORD. There is a special blessings attached to it. When we serve our LORD Jesus, He will honour us. “If any anyone serve Me, let him follow Me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve Me, him will My Father honour”(John 12:26). Jesus said to him,” You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind”(Matt.22:37). O vercome your pride Pride* Humility. Everybody has pride. It proceeds from unregenerate heart. A Born again believer is humble. Tongue speaks proud things. We should control our thoughts and words. There should be humility in our thoughts, words and actions. Then only we can honour others.”By humility and the fear of the LORD are riches and honour and life”. Proverbs 22:4, Two conditions: 1. Be humble, 1.Peter 5:5, 2. Fear the LORD, Prov.1:7. God gives grace to the humble. He will exalt you in due time. Three blessings of humility: * Honour,*riches, and *Life. “The fear of the LORD is the instruction of wisdom; and before honour is humility”(Prov. 15:33). “Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time”(1.Peter 5:6). Humble interpersonal relations are to be lived out under the mighty hand of God. When Jesus the Chief Shepherd appears, He will exalt the humble in due time. Humble service is needed in the Kingdom of God. N ever despise others The LORD says:”…for them that honour Me I will honour, and they that despise Me shall be lightly esteemed”(1.Samu.2:30). “He who despises his neighbour sins; But he who has mercy on the poor, happy is he”. Prov. 14:21. All human beings are created in the image and likeness of God. Therefore, we should treat all the people properly. Respect all men and women with dignity. All people are created from one Blood. God’s word says: “Honour all people, love the brotherhood, fear God. Honour the king”(1.Peter 2:17). Apostle Peter lists 4 groups of people: i.Honor all people, ii. Love the Brotherhood, iii. Fear God, iv. Honor the king Peter says: “Honor all people”. This means saved or unsaved, Born again or not born again people. We should have real soul burden for unbelievers. Everyone deserves respect. Next, Peter says: Love the brotherhood. Brotherly love should continue. We should love our natural brothers and sisters and also spiritual brotherhood in the church. Thirdly, Peter says: Fear God. This means Respect God. Finally, we should also Honor Government officials and Leaders. O bey the LORD “But why do you call Me “Lord, Lord”, and not do the things which I say? Who ever comes to Me, and hears My sayings and does them, I will show you whom he is like”: (Luke 6:46,47). Obedience to the LORD and His words are valuable. Saying: “Jesus is LORD” is a wonderful confession. But Our words and actions should flow out of our love relationship with Jesus. Never undervalue obedience. Three steps to Discipleship: i. Come to Jesus, ii. Hear His sayings, iii. Do/Obey Jesus’ words. Obeying the LORD equals honouring the LORD. Jesus said:” If you love Me, keep My commandments”(John 14:15). Those who love Christ will prove their devotion by their obedience. The Bible says: Obedience is better than sacrifice. R espect your Parents “Honour your father and mother, that your days may be long upon the land which the LORD your God is giving you”(Exodus 20:12). There are three types of father and mother in this earth: i. your physical father and mother, who brought you into this world. Ii. Your intellectual father and mother who taught you the language, to write, read and speak and also subjects like Tamil, English, Mathematics, science, social science etc., Iii. Your spiritual father and mother (Pastor and his wife) who taught you God’s Word and spiritual songs. We must respect, honour and esteem them in high regard. Ephesians 6:2 says: “Honour thy father and mother; which is the first commandment with promise”. What are the promised blessings? i. it may be well with you, ii. You will live long on the earth. Long life and Better life. Ephesians 6:2,3 speaks about Filial honour and promise to children. You will experience good life, long life and prosperous life. Giving regular financial gift, taking care of them, speaking to them is important. For God commanded, saying, Honour thy father and mother. Dear brothers and sisters, you shall be blessed, when you obey this God’s commandment. 🌿🌻 Finding purpose in pain is sometimes difficult to fathom. I try to fulfill the great commission by giving the gospel to whomsoever God leads me to. But now recently l seem to realise that the evil one keeps attacking me with back and knee pain thus hampering my evangelical work.
