"Yesterday" performed by Paul McCartney, Peggy Lee and Dionne Warwick.
On the 59th anniversary of The Beatles first appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show yesterday, I found this interesting clip in my collection. I wanted to share it for its historic significance.

    Not only was Mike Smith the voice of the DC5 but he was the songwriter as well. He was also a good keyboard 🎹 player as well. Even though the DC5 had broken up he did his best to keep the group’s music 🎼 alive. Trying to keep their music 🎶 alive would later cost him his life. Dave Clark had all the band members under contract but, if it wasn’t for Mike Smith the band wouldn’t be nothing without him. Mike Smith was a good songwriter and it’s sad he’s not around anymore. If it were possible this is the band they need to bring back. Fellas, the world 🌎 needs to hear 👂 your music.🎵

    Dave Clark absolutely deserves immense credit for propelling his band to the forefront leadership of the British Invasion of America! The Dave Clark Five and The Beatles were the 2 giant bands the led the British Invasion. The Rolling Stones, Herman's Hermit's, The Who, The Animals, Searchers, and so forth, all trailed the Beatles & The DC5. Also, there's a certain Mr Ryan who had legally relinquished his writing credits via a deal with Dave Clark. Ryan made the deal with Mr Clark. However it seems in the last few years that Ryan has endlessly complained, whined and cried to anyone and everyone that he is not credited with songs he purportedly wrote but are credited to Dave Clark. Mr Clark has the legal right to claim writing credits to the songs. Ryan seems to want to involve himself into the Dave Clark Five legacy. Fans of the many Dave Clark Five fan groups throughout the internet are quite tired and bored of hearing Mr Ryan's whining and crying over any deal he made with Mr Clark.

    Fess Parker was iconic for my generation , the Baby Boomers . In an interview long after he retired , Fess said that when he meets a Baby Boomer for the first time he knows exactly what is going to come out before they say it . I think he genuinely liked us . My guess is that what is going to come out is “ I grew up with you ! “

    I am so glad Dave Clark managed the DC5 Exclusively. He took care of his band and didn't let the blood sucking vultures take advantage of his buddies. I wish other bands would have told these managers to get lost early on...but sometimes business is not everyone's forte. Anyway, all of the DC5 REALLY WERE GREAT! 17 times (I think) on The Ed Sullivan show. Come on...that's more than Elvis or the Beatles! That time will never be repeated. Thanks Mike for being such a great vocalist with an awesome personality as well. We miss you and all the rest too. You truly were the best! 😋

    Loved Davy Crockett as a kid in the Fifties. Then as an adult I learned why Davy Crockett fought and died at the Alamo. White Texans had to break away from Mexico if they wanted to be allowed to own black Texans. Mexico outlawed slavery well before Lincoln.

    • @jakobrenner5967
      @jakobrenner5967 Před rokem

      Steven F Austin actually tried to pass a bill ending slavery. Southern settlers said no deal. He was actually worried they were bringing in too many slaves. Which in his mind could lead to a Nat Turner situation. Also, Mexico banning slavery before Lincoln is not that impressive because they didn't produce a lot of slave crops. So it wasn't nearly as big a deal or as impressive as ending slavery in the United States was. Lastly the main reason for the revolution was Santa Anna discarding the 1824 constitution. The Texas settlers and tajano Indians were right to rebel. RIP Davy Crockett who was only in Texas 3 months and Stephen F Austin.
