How to 'Boil the Frog' in Cross-Examination
Sonia describes the technique of ‘boiling the frog’. This is where an advocate gradually leads a witness through a series of questions, starting with non-contentious ones and progressively moving to more critical issues. This technique aims to get the witness to make small admissions without realising the cumulative impact, ultimately leading to a significant admission or contradiction. This method helps avoid alerting the witness and keeps them from becoming defensive, making it a powerful tool in cross-examination.

You're very welcome!
Thank you. Your advice is always so practical :)
You are so welcome!
Great advice
I'm glad you found it helpful.
What WOKE boring garbage. The cool guys all non white etc. Can see your mind manipulation etc. Shame on your racialism.
This is hilarious! Well done young lady! It's a bit beyond this with some of us, but still... I mean, when some wigged b'stard has ditched all Rule of Law and yor self-repping, falsely accused, wholly set- up self is dragged up that flight of stairs by fatty from Monkey Magic, and you're made to appear from the torture chambers of Scrubs, in the courtrrom of Isleworth where you once WORKED, and the judge was the one who StOPPED your evidence getting into court, all this goes out the window. And most students are too green to be able to deal with that.
Glad you liked the video.
@@advocacytutor6354 You're welcome 😊
Love the judge clapping at the end. Never happened in my court though!
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
❤️❤️❤️
👍🏿👍👍👍🏿
Thanks, want more of this😊
More to come!
But you can request (as opposed to demand) the witness to answer yes or no. Also, you can 'ride' the answer with yes or no
Remembering and recognizing are two separate functions of the human brain
I just witnessed such a situation a few days ago
😱😳
It happens very often in my jurisdiction. Defence counsel "take a chance" vs they may have them cry and profess their innocence, and give their version of what happened, when it's very clear they're guilty of the offense It's maddening!
I’m sorry this has happened. Your channel is amazing and you are amazing. You and your channel helped me immensely.
Thank you so much Joseph.
I love your voice 😊and great video

You curried your husband's head haha. Your extreme lady haha but I get it. I rest.
No point asking that final question in that way. Better to fully insinuate with: “by meeting with him since the accident et you have lost your independence”
That could work also. 👍
You're trying to put words in my mouth. I'm not going to play that game😂 What would you do if somebody planted a invasive indestructible and dangerous weed in your garden?😏😂
😁😁😁
Very nice
Glad you found it helpful.
Did I see Eddie Murphy or is it just me? 😂😂
🤫🤫😁
In your experience, how often can a defendant waive their right to a speedy trial? How many times have you seen it waived in one case before it goes to trial?
Do t agree with that. Some defendants can give a convincing story - even though guilty. In any case - as a UK prosecutor I relish the closing speech against a defendant who could not even walk the 7 yards to give evidence.
Yeah they will give a convincing story but it’s a lie. In doing so you as the lawyer will be misleading the court in accepting the lie. The question is how do you defend a quilt defendant???
Kya koi is vedio ki hindi kr skta h

Hi Sonia this really helpful thank you ☺️
Glad it was helpful!
Edward Marshall Hall was known to vomit from nerves before commencing a trial. For those who don't recognise the name he was one of the leading criminal barristers of the late 19th early 20th century well known for defending what appeared to be undefendable clients.

Sonia Simms is the best. I remained her student back in the year 2012.
Hello @MuhammadKashif-wm5gj. I hope you are well and still enjoying the law. Thank you for the kind comment.
That's why you should NEVER make a statement to the police when you are arrested. It is your right to keep silent. Beside that, in Quebec, and maybe in France too, it would be illegal for a judge to wear a religious sign like the indian judge in the video.
A religious sign? Sikhs are forbidden from cutting their hair. The men have long hair that they grow their entire life without cutting, so they wear a turban to neatly hold it together. Would you rather that they walk in with open hair like a Pantene commercial?
