  • If you are going to make a closing argument in court, the pressure is on.
➡️ It's your last chance to persuade the jury and secure a verdict in your client's favour.
Here are some tips on how to deliver an effective closing speech.
Keep it short and sweet. The average attention span of most people these days is pretty low, so don't try to drag out your closing statements more than necessary.
Get straight to the point and focus on key themes or points that you want the jury to remember when they deliberate.
➡️ Re-emphasise important evidence presented during the trial using visual aids.
This will help refresh the jurors' memories while also highlighting any critical details they may have missed earlier during the trial.

Can this be applied to civil advocacy trials? Or are these tips strictly for Criminal Advocacy trials?

The tips can also apply to closing speeches in civil trials. Bear in mind that you will need to tailor your tone and approach according to whether the tribunal is a jury or a judge.
