This man was truly a star in his own right. But he also seemed to have a humility about him that gave the impression he couldn’t have cared less? A rare talent and a wonderful individual.
bouncy bass-line - who was the bass player ?
he was great. what’s amazing is he was only 28 here, but looks about 45:)
I got the craziest crush on Don Rich! He was so cute and loved his singing It broke my heart to hear of his motorcycle crash and death at 36 I wouldnt go anywhere near one of those things!
smokeyrubbers ... thank you for posting this. That's country.
Greatest country singer of all times
❤❤ Love Conway Twitty and his songs. My favorite singer.❤❤

Ricky Skaggs is a Master piece Legend!!
Damn, what a bunch of killer pickers !!!!
Love
Love Conway since the first day I saw him.
Want be another like him
Ricky never was a hippie; most other contemporary musicians were. It's the reason Earl left Lester. It al depends on who you hang out with. He had a chance, but he went in a right wing direction, hence the leisure suit/styled hair look. Music can transcend religion/politics; Ricky is still a great musician no matter what.
Forever the best even when he didn't show
A nod to the bass player. Nice performance....By Doyle Holly
Bass is way too loud.
From what I understand, Buck found teenage Don Ulrich playing violin in Tacoma. Great mentor and student!👏👏🤠❤
😊❤
God bless my ex-wife wherever she is if only she knew how much I reminisce about her in the past I let her slip away from me and destroyed my life and heart I lost the love of my life gone but not for gotton my life is just about over now but I still miss my past life I had with her
Did Don Rich ever play a Fender ? 😊
🎶
Was that a masonic ring he was wearing?
Old Porter Waggoner AKA Screw Them All
What a wonderful singer
I'd watch PW and NJ every Sat morning back in '62-'64 from Huntsville when working for NASA. When Dolly came on I thought poor little scared girl. Boy was I wrong!!! Anyway miss ol Porter
Its the Jones Boys and George
The Day of the motorcycle crash, Buck died too. Not literally but in his heart.
You r one of d best
Sometimes he sounds like a pedal steel. Just slides that voice around. 😊
It's beautiful!😢
smooth!
Wow a les paul recording model
I love this minor variation on the mandolin break he did on the album, then Bluegrass Boy Bobby Hicks does that crazy chromatic banjo break, the Great Ray Flacke's guitar break, then Bruce Boughton pedal steel (one of the must-know pedal steel songs).
I read he was only 32 when he died on his Harley motorcycle and Buck tried to talk him out of riding that day. When I was a little kid my parents watched Hee Haw with him standing right next to Buck playing a telecaster. He met Elvis,Loretta Lynn etc.My dad was a fiddle player and was a huge fan of his.Could it be said he was the king of the Bakersfield sound guitar 🎸.RIP Don.
Listen - at the beginning you hear Flacke play the harmony line to the intro. Bruce's steel was not up in the mix yet.
I’m glad the comments are on. Incredibleness! I wonder if Ricky ever got silly and said “stick out my tongue,” instead of “stick out my thumb.” 😜
This is one of the most charming videos I've ever seen. Everyone so cheerful and obviously enjoying performing and being with each other. I've watched it over and over.
He's playing one of Les Paul's low impedance pickup equipped Les Pauls. Might even be one of Les's personal guitars.
It is an injustice that the wonderful Don Rich is not in the country hall of fame
He certainly belongs in the Hall of FAME!!!
RIP Buck Trent. That was one heck of a guitar solo.
the man with many different hairstyles
It’s odd to see anything other than a tele in his hand
One of my biggest guitar inspirations ever! And I Loved his little guitar nod to the great Jerry Reed at the end of his solo!
The whole song is great, but I could listen to those first 11 seconds on an endless loop. So beautiful…
Peerless just peerless
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
❤
Bill would sing this for me.
WAtch and learn.....
gotta love the Ol' Possum, but the verses here are sung out of order
