Ron was right, it's not easy for someone to go from being 'one of the lads' to being a boss, suddenly your mate who you've had beers with is telling you what to do. I've seen this happen in companies I've worked for. On balance it is more likely to end in failure than success. In an ideal world, players will walk over hot coals for their gaffer and certainly not give them lip when asked to do something they don't like.
