For your rambling around the 50:00 mark when you're talking about the existence of cryptic metapuzzles being vanquished by datamining, you may be interested in Noita, that pixel physics roguelike. It's got a puzzle/ARG/something involving a code involving eyes, the existence of the puzzle has been known for at least a year as of this post, and we still don't know what it does because either the code is pointing at an out-of-game resource or an obscure enough game function it hasn't been datamined yet. Googling "noita eye puzzle" should tell you more.

You should try playing X4 Foundation. Now it might seem like a space ship combat game, but that's like looking at factorio and thinking it's a survival game. Sure, you might fly in space, but the real meat and potatoes is the economy. Your space empire is like a galaxy spanning Factory, with ships as it's belts and space stations as it's fabricators. Gonna want to be friends with everyone of have Mighty combat fleets defending your trade routes though.

I'm about 15 minutes in and I have to say, I'm really impressed with how "backwards" this overhaul is. You hinted at this with the gear/cube brain joke and I really like the fact that compared to gear brain where you optimize for efficiency, with cube brain you optimize for time instead. Definitely an interesting challenge to flex the ol' grey matter.

Random thought, why the hell isn't there a grenade turret in the base game? Just make it so it can't shoot close up so it would be powerful but at the cost of being weak to rushes as well as dealing damage to walls or bots if not set up well?
