On the point of the auto-aim being removed for the American edition of Resident Evil 1, fairly certain it was during the time that for some reason a lot of Japanese game companies were making American versions of games PURPOSEFULLY harder, for no good reason. RE2 even suffered from this, where the NA release didn't get the option of Easy difficulty. They got Normal and Hard. In JP, you had to beat the game on Normal to unlock Hard, iirc, and there's a lot more items like healing and ammo in the JP version. I feel like it's maybe a response to the fact that for a while, NA games from Japan would either be easier because NA wasn't considered as much of a 'gamer' space, or we just would get entirely different games instead (Looking at you, Mario Bros 2) since the actual games were "too hard for Americans". Joke's on them though, most people I know in America prefer the Japanese versions of the earlier games, and the NA versions of the later games. They LIKE the difficulty. *Edit: Okay so in RE2 you don't have only Normal and Hard... technically. NA Easy and Normal ARE JP's Normal and Hard, and the PC version of RE2 for NA had an even HARDER Hard mode unlock once you beat the game.

Just a quick correction. You can actually use blue herbs by themselves if you are poisoned.

You’re wrong about the modern controls with the camera perspectives. Whatever you were pressing to go forward, if the next camera angle switches, you can keep pressing that button to keep going that direction. It only resets if you let go and then you can to press the new direction.

Sequels back then were designed and made in mind that the majority of people would have at least played the first game, and the majority of gamers did play the first two, I don't know about other people but I like to play the first game in a series first before I play any other

The funny thing about Chris being so stupid is that the game could've still happened if he told him right away "Ethan, that wasn't Mia. That was a woman called Miranda who is a shapeshifter and she's after your daughter. Come with us, you'll be taken to a safer spot." On the way to the safe place, Miranda awakens and Ethan falls unconscious due to the car crash. He wakes up and his daughter is gone. Cue RE8 without Chris being a nuisance.

For whatever reason, the German version of the Directors Cut has the original music and is uncut. However, this version is missing the demo of RE2.

I am pretty certain that the random stuff you are talking about is either only in the gamecube version. or in the patch you are using, since every single time I have played this game so far, everything was exactly the same on the PS1

The worst mistake Capcom did with the RE remake was releasing it as a Gamecube exclusive, I am a Chilean and everywhere I saw in South America was households in which the PS1+2 dominated during that era, if Capcom had released it at a later date for the PS2 like they did with 4 it would have been a success

RE3 is definitely my favourite, specially since it has plenty of replayability with the Mercenaries rewards and the multiple route choices. Also Nemesis was an exquisite addition, it was *cheff kiss*

The romance between Steve and Claire makes no sense and is inappropriate. She’s 20-21 and he’s 17. I don’t like that. Also it thematically doesn’t fit. The rest of the game is about siblings: particularly brother and sister. Wouldn’t it have been better if Steve had an older sister that got killed by Umbrella and he resents his dad not just for getting them sent to the island but for the death of his sister? And since Steve in this alternate scenario lost an older sister and Claire is trying to find her brother, Steve would view Claire as an older sister and care about her that way. It would fit in better thematically and would take away the weird leering aspect of Steve. It would also make him more likeable.

I still personally prefer the Ps1 Classic of RE1 over the gamecube remake. It's the Evil Dead of RE. Just campy fun goodness. The dogs howling in the courtyard, the music, the dialogue. The uncut Biohazard opening is just 10/10.

I'm sure the zombie in Leons backseat is his partner that sent him for coffee, he just kinda forgot. It always bothers me in any media when cops are just casually going solo, no partner :). Just so you know, as someone who played the original on the PS2 with a Guncon when I was a kid (obviously in Europe) the critical hits are carried over from using the GunCon to headshot enemies. It is much easier and more fluid to play the game with a guncon than it is with the controller.
