@@GentielioGaming Not a simple yes and no answer. It depends on how the solar panels are connected and what they are feeding into. When I did my experimental preamp with solar panels, they were fed directly into the preamp power supply. No convert into ac and back to DC. In that case, it was dead quiet. Otherwise, they are so many ac noise in the system it doesn't get any benefit out of using solar panels at all.

@@angela-gilbert We do have a converter. Our house is only 2 years old and it came with solar panels. Then again i live not in a city, so i guess less noise.

@@GentielioGaming You will not get noise from the grid but the converter generates a lot of noise. Even when they claim pure sine wave, they are quite often more than 2%.

I love empty David's cookie cans. They have a very similar diameter as the Danish cookie but another half an inch taller. More space for toys.

@@ColocasiaCorm Well said. Those knobs are so black I couldn't see anything until I can get close with light.

I can easily adapt any dual triode preamp tube to the circuit. May require slight rewiring for the tube pin out but the theory is the same. I am using more common tube because they are available. 5670 isn't a problem if you can supply the tube.

@@angela-gilbert also I see people selling those tube adaptor for switch to different tubes for different flavors, do those actually work?

@@MasterofPlay7 Yes, they do work in term of switch different between one type of tube to another. But be aware that different tube requires different bias. In most cases, it will work but may not be 100% of the way you want it to. It also requires different filament current. A lot of time when a tube filament current requires more than the original tube design, it will shorten the life of the filament.

@@angela-gilbert thank you for prompt response! What about the small input tubes? Those ones I don't believe they need bias, changing those would change the coloration

@@MasterofPlay7 Every tube needs bias. It is only the matter of manual bias or auto bias. Bias of a tube big or small is based on the current draw and the B+ supply. By plug and play without adjusting the bias, it may land on the different intended portion of the bias curve. It will works but would the sound suitable. That is the question. Therefore, by plug and play different tube into a circuit doesn't truly represent what that tube really sound like. There are so many things behind what the marketing department want to tell the public.

@@2Blitzkrieg I am thinking adding another 20 Farads to make it to 2,500 Farads. Because keep saying twenty four hundred eighty Farads takes too much time. Short only allow for 1 min so I have to use my minute wisely.

Looks like the innards may be from a John Vassos designed Victor Special (designed for the 1939 World's Fair) transplanted into an older RCA phono box. ElmPhotography has some info on the Victor Special.

@@TheTrueVoiceOfReason Thanks for the info. It would be interesting to make it working again. All the cables are rotted. The tonearm cable probably need replacement too.

@angela-gilbert All that, and the idler wheel is probably as hard as a rock, too. I know you can buy them on-line.

@@TheTrueVoiceOfReason Nope. 😝😅 There isn't any wheel left. It has partially disintegrated many moons ago. It's a projects but I have other more pressing projects on the bench waiting at the moment.

@@alexandervaneijken7741 It depends on the music type. There are 4 systems with turntable for now. They all have a different sound. It will depends on the music and how I like to hear them. Then decision may be made. 😉😆

@@RickN-ml6is Good to hear from you. The Sansui integrated amp is in my bedroom on the lower shelf blocked by the bed. It was working for 3 or 4 months and then start making noise. Typical of vintage. I am used to it. When I have a lot of time, I will work on them. What else did I got from you?

@@RickN-ml6is Still have those crossover. A pair of empty Technics speaker cabinet. Beside the Sansui integrated amp, I thought I have got another amp from you but it doesn't come up from the memory right now.

I was half joking about the dirty laundry. On the other half, when the laundry bag is really full and standing up straight, there is a slight effect on the bass in that corner. The toilet is directly on top of the septic tank. 😁

@@TerraBlacc1 You guys has LOT of free land in the rural area. If you live in a farm, you can do what I do. Not so much in the city. We have very similar restriction.

Took a long time to collect all of those speakers and amps. Although, same of them has been given to me for free. Friends who know I collect vintage audio equipment would gave their old toys to me instead of selling them.

@@MasterofPlay7 I really don't have a favorite. They all sound different enough in different rooms to make them all fun to listen with different amps and preamps.

Sometime I wonder am I still qualify to be an audiophile. I have stopped doing a lot of audiophile thing for a long time. Many of those I have never start. Because they didn't make a lot of sense to me.

@@VirusForPrez Small amps need a special kind of speaker to sound together. Matching is the key.

@@SuperScalemaster I want to keep a variety of speakers around for testing amps. From audiophile speakers to very diet cheap road kill junk. Literally junk my friend picked up for me when ever you see them. They give me a wide range of prospective of how my designs sound on different type of speakers. In addition, I also take my designs to various location foe beta testing.
