I highly recommend the sequel Pig in the City as well. Some fans of the original hate it because James Cromwell doesn't come back for the most part, but for me the fact that Hogget isn't there fits perfectly with the darker, more dangerous tone that George Miller does so well, and there's still room for a similar humor.

I saw Babe when it came out in the theaters and loved it but it has been years since I've seen it. I should give it a rewatch.

I was obsessed with this movie after getting the vhs when I was about 9 years old, I loved it to bits though my little animal loving heart also found a lot of it deeply upsetting! But you have just reminded me that my dvd of it broke a few years back and I never replaced it so I’m off to order myself a new one.

I've heard that, since this movie, James Cromwell has become a major supporter for animal rights and has even been arrested for some of his protests. And I say "I've heard" because it's been told to me. I haven't done a ton of research on it.

That opening joke was great and I guess it's better than "Squeal like a pig." Babe is one of those movies I've only seen all the way through once, but it's on TV a lot and I find myself watching parts of it. It really does stand up.

I have yet to rewatch this movie. And its sequel Babe: Pig In The City, which is strangely darker than the first movie. I watched that one on VHS a lot as a kid for that reason. 😅 Plus, it’s directed by George Miller AKA Mad Max movies director. It has sweet and mostly intense moments, almost like a live action Don Bluth movie. I might be over selling it, but that’s what I remember.

I saw this movie quite a lot as a kid. I haven't watched it in years though and I've never seen the sequel.

Considering that Babe is nearly 30 years old it really does hold up very well. They probably could go in and "litely" CGI any "seams" out so that all the puppetry is not removed, just "cleaned up" kinda like what they did with the movie Coraline which used stop motion and then CGI cleaned up the "seams." I'd kinda like to maybe see them do that, then rerelease it next year for its 30th Anniversary. My 2 favorite performances of James Cromwell is this movie and Star Trek: First Contact. He is SO good and SO different in those 2 roles, wow! Thanks for sharing!

It's been so long since I saw this. My kids were kids and now one of them is a parent herself.

I need to watch the animation yet. I watched the semi-reconstructed one on my DVD of the Aztecs, and enjoyed it. Apparently it was written with Barbara in mind instead of Steven, so he played her part here, not 100% sure if that's true though. I love Vicki, she's a lot of fun and that grin of hers is so adorable.

I love watching this film whenever it ends up on TV. I'm surprised you've never somehow stumbled across it, but I can understand it having gone under some people's radar. Aged fairly well all these years later, even in 2024, unlike some films even just a decade old for me. But probably nostalgia talking, I suspect.

Don't be fooled around by Wallace and Gromit's Creators Aardman's title, "I am Your Mother" It doesn't have Jedi or Sith. It is a delightful as someone who was an Aardman Fan and Star Wars Fan since as a Little Girl and got to see them Crossover!!!

I like to think Vivien and Prof. Rumford met, when the latter was about 40, and Amelia just never questioned that her partner never aged.

I remember when Episode 3 of this story was recovered. Really fun time to be a Who fan. Also, there's this great clip of Peter Capaldi answering "The Chumblies" when asked what classic monster should come back, and Steven Moffat starts chuckling.

The problem with Glitz selling his crew is that originally he was a different character. Apparently, Nathan-Turner noticed that the character had a lot of similarities to Glitz, so he just decided to bring Glitz back since he'd been a fun character before. But they didn't bother to rewrite the backstory about the crew. The sad thing is it could've worked out better if they'd just rewritten it to say that Glitz mistakenly believed he was simply hiring out the crew for one job, and didn't know they were getting enslaved and having their memories wiped. I had no idea that was Magenta! I knew she looked familiar. I just figured I'd seen her in an episode of some other British show somewhere.

Vicki is such a fantastic companion. I’d recommend watching her stories she shares with Ian and Barbara. The Rescue and The Romans are both really good showpieces for her character.

In addition to the Doctor and Ace stuff (which is as great as you said), I really liked the Lady's henchman. He doesn't seem to be a bad person, and he has no real interest or understanding of what she is trying to do. He's just doing his job. I also liked the rich American lady from the third part. It's usually fun seeing Americans on Doctor Who, and we get to see how Britain sees us.

I enjoyed “Galaxy 4” and completely agree with your review of it. One of the better animated episodes I’ve seen (not because of the animation, but in spite of it). Just a good solid storyline. ❤

I have yet to see this one, but I remember seeing a clip of Peter Capaldi being asked if he could have anyone from classic Who return, and he wanted the Chumblies.

I love that the end credits (and the movie in general) was a great send off and a genuine love letter to the Fox superhero universe. It had it's good and it's bad times, but this movie says that it mattered and it'll be missed.
