Sheep Shearing Coffee Table | S15 E2 *

How about a coffee table that once served as a portable platform to shear the wool from sheep? We're not sure how well it worked at that task, but Norm reinvents it as a handsome platform for books, plants, puzzles, canapes, and all the other things that clutter today's coffee tables. This is definitely a conversation piece. Made of recycled pine, this unusual table is easy to make and comes wi...

When Norm finds this early cupboard in a Nantucket antique shop, he can't be sure of what he has found. Nevertheless, it's a simple rustic classic, just perfect for The New Yankee Workshop collection. Norm makes his from recycled pine and predicts this piece will be po...

An antique cherry nightstand, circa 1840, found in a friend's house on Nantucket Island, is inspiration for Norm to build his version in The New Yankee Workshop. This square- topped, single drawer nightstand has 4 handsomely turned legs. Norm uses cherry for the body of the piece, and fashions the drawer front from tiger maple as a distinctive contrast. The simple elegance of this nightstand as...

Norm visits an antique shop and spots a small round pedestal table that the dealer tells him may have originated in Indonesia. Maybe that's why it was built from teak, a popular wood in that region. Norm likes the choice of the wood, for it means that the table can be used either inside or out. The tricky part of making a pedestal table is connecting the legs to the pedestal. After the pedestal...

Thank you all for your comments, condolences and well wishes. Marian and the family really appreciate it. Every couple months I would drive up to the Morash household and we’d film a few short videos over a couple of days. Russ always looked forward to it as he loved connecting with fans. Russ shows us the Redwood Arbor that's had quite a history. Originally built with a bench and placed under some trees, it was then moved for Roger Swain's The Victory Garden show with help from Roger Cook from This Old House. Always a Yankee, Russ often blended his shows together sharing projects and talent. As you can see Norm's arbor is still holding up well despite all the updates. Original ...
I miss watching this on tv like Hometime, the 90s were great😢
Ya know Norm built a lot of stuff on this show.
I just inherited an old(ish) butler table. Unfortunately, the leaves are not secure or level. I tightened the screws on the beautiful brass hinges but the problem seems to be that flat hole underneath where the hinge is affixed to table is too wide. Maybe worn out? I’m no carpenter so I can’t make any serious repairs. Any thoughts? Thank you. I didn’t know whom to ask about this esoteric problem.
Bring back the New Yankee Workshop with Norm Abram.
I love this it reminds me of the days when i first started woodworking with mainly my grandfather's tools including a Craftsman "Electronic" Radial Arm and a "Wobble head" adjustable dado cutter 😊. This is the end of a certain era of home woodworking but I think it's good to start the craft with only the basics so you can master your skills as you build your shop!
Beautiful work as always from Norm, amusing to see the 'yankee' screwdriver - the precursor to the cordless drill - I still have mine.
Thank you.
👍
Norm was showing off that pocket hole machine, wasn't he?
Oh these pieces are lovely! I wish I had room in my home!
12:45 that little scrap of wood scared me for Norm 😬
If I had everyone of those pieces of equipment, tools, jigs, clamps and assorted accessories, I'd still not be able to build all of the things Norm has built.
Please bring Norm Abram out of retirement.
I sure do enjoy rewatching these gems. Norm is such a classy guy, and Russ was such a production wiz!
I wish they would post what tools he is using and where he got them from. I'd be interested.
There's a fan page online that has this information.
20 odd years from production, but even closer to 30+ for quite a few of those tools. I'd be surprised if these were still able to be had, without sacrificing a newer version that may perform better. my 0.02.

@brianburgett5894 don't forget the venerable Bosch Barrel Grip Jigsaw and Lamello Plate Joiner.
"If I can do it, you can do it!" YESS!!! This is why I love Norm!
Back in the day, I thought I remembered seeing all the episodes but I seem to forget this one. Very nice.
“Plenty of room for a good size TV.”Times sure have changed.
I spent the whole episode waiting for him to put a TV in that bathroom cabinet.

Many thanks for making all this content accessible.
When he built this workshop was it adjacent to the New Yankee workshop or somewhere in the Massachusetts area?

Is the detailed cutting list still available for these?

Funny, I was looking at buying/building this style chair just a few days ago. Adam Savage has that club chair & I think this it a good cross over.

Now that you've posted this video you really must make the plans available, even if the hardware is not. We can always aquire springs and clips and foam elsewhere. But why temp us with this great project and not also make the plans available? Sell the plans again please.
