Billy Bragg rewrote The Internationale on the advice of Pete Seeger, who thought the original lyrics were outdated, more than 40 years ago. Here they sing it together. The appears on Billy Bragg's The Roaring Forty collection. I don't own the copyright, obviously.

Joan's tribute to Natalya Gorbanevskaya, the Russian poet who dared to protest against the invasion of Czechoslovakia, obviously resonates as thousands of Russians risk brutalisation to agitate against the invasion of Ukraine.

Dear Richard Je suis une femme de 83 ans j’aime toujours autant Baez 🌺🌹♥️
❤
Paul Robeson knew about the atrocities and gulags in the Soviet Union but he kept his mouth shut. Robeson is not sometype of hero.
L❤🔥VE 🕊️
John Seeger is Pete's older brother. Pete and John have a different mother then Peggy and Mike, but all four of them have the same father.
Cillian Murphy did a great job as Phil!
So long , good to see you. Pete got to be drifting along. Dusty oh rang preacher hall, folded his spects collected
If I'm not mistaken, I see Arlo Guthrie, Joan Baez and Richie Havens among the back-up singers. What a wonderful memory of Pete singing one of Woody's songs, and it's the first time I've seen Earl Robinson sing as well.
Can you imagine any of the pygmies that rule us now defending themselves with such assurance and conviction. But then again none of them have the virtue of this great man to defend .Listen to the yapping of those jackals questioning him in comparison to his glorious logic and diction. USA land of the free?
Natalya was a CIA agent.
He will be remembered for generations and centuries to come think you Paul Robeson ❤️
They don’t make them like this anymore 😀

Finally found the original source of lenin speech i watched
it would be great if someone could subtitle it in english, i'm trying to use the auto-translate feature, but it doesnt work 100%
I entirely agree! I tried automatic subtitling both before and after posting it, but sadly it just didn't seem to work.
This is not pau Robeson - it is the actor James Earl Jones
Wow. Thank you.
An absolute king.
I campaigned with my parents and the unions for Wallace in 1948. I remember We're all a dodgin on our way through the world. What a treasure this concert is.
Maravilhosas.... Cantoras marcantes.... Ficam para sempre!

Pete shows us to continue to follow our hearts and all will be well. Thank you .Pete for what you have brought to the world.

have any of you got these 2 albums? so many talented people. The Crackers...and Bob.
Also, have you ever seen Tom Paxton's Isle of Wight set? It was SO good.
❤🌹❤🙋♀️
Joan Baez has a wonderful voice as did Pete Seeger. A lot of music came via those two folks.👍👍
Thank you for this! Did Pete sing a song in hindi? If so, what is that song called?
I think the only one is "Ragaputi" - reputedly one of Gandhi's favourite bhajans (devotional songs). I first heard it on a Weavers LP from the 1950s.
Thank you!@@mahir.ali59
i thought this was a play. these ppl actually acted like this. lol. Paul Robeson outclass them
i just discovered this guy,,who is better than Dylan in my opinion,,this guy was no cop out,,the music buiss as usual,,just did nt get him ,we need guys like him its not about the fucking money, and phil understood this

A true American hero - treated like a criminal because he spoke truth to power.
[Intro] You don't have to play me backwards To get the meaning of my verse You don't have to die and go to Hell To feel the Devil's curse [Verse 1] Well, I thought my life was a photograph On the family Christmas card Kids all dressed in buttons and bows And lined up in the yard Were the golden days of childhood So lyrical and warm Or did the picture start to fade On the day that I was born? [Chorus] I've seen them light the candles And I've heard them bang the drum And I've cried, "Mama, I'm cold as ice" And I got no place to run [Verse 2] Let the night begin, there's a pop of skin And the sudden rush of scarlet There's a little boy riding on a goat's head And a little girl playing the harlot There's a sacrifice in an empty church Of sweet little baby Rose And a man in a mask from Mexico Is peeling off my clothes You might also like Amsterdam Joan Baez Diamonds and Rust Joan Baez You’re Losing Me (From The Vault) Taylor Swift [Chorus] I've seen them light the candles And I've heard them bang the drum And I've cried, "Mama, I'm cold as ice" And I got no place to run [Bridge] So I'm paying for protection Smoking out the truth Chasing recollections Nailing down the proof [Verse 3] Don't have to play me backwards To get the meaning of my verse You don't have to die and go to Hell To feel the Devil's curse And I'll stand before your altar And tell everything I know I've come to claim my childhood At the chapel of baby Rose [Outro] I've seen them light the candles And I've heard them bang the drum I've seen them light the candles And I've heard them bang the drum
I love Joan Baez. Seen her twice in concert. She is so cute.
Her and Pete seeger are two of my favourite singers. Was too young and too far away so never got to listen to Pete in a concert and now unfortunately Joan Baez isn't performing live either :/
What a wonderful gem! <3
How beautiful and how ever more true in times like these, with presidents like Trump and many other right-winged populists. Thank you for sharing! <3
So lovely to see Pete Seeger alive and healthy. A favourite of my youth and a hero to many.
Patriicia, unhapily Pete Seeger died in 2014.
The First Family of American vernacular music
Beautiful concert! I enjoy it very much.
We need more Topical and "subversive" songwriters.

Yes we do!
❤💞💓
Thank you. This is a precious memory for me too but it had faded and i am so grateful to have it back in life and colour.
Maravillosa canción hermosas voces ❤❤
Fantástico..este concerto!!!!
Such a real pity that most of them couldn't even be bothered to learn the words to these great songs.
Woody Guthrie never sang a song the same way twice - best that they had cheat sheets, could all sing the same words together.
Grande Merce cuanto falta tu voz
Latino music is what I love best.
Paul Robeson: I Invoke the 5th Amendment LOUDLY 🤣 What a MAN!!! Capital M!!! Sir!!!
No subtitles for the 3rd part of "Chords of Fame"? Why not? I'm very hard of hearing and I need those subtitles. Thank you.
Sorry about that, I transferred all the segments in the same format. No idea why the subtitles are missing from the third part.
Thank You . . . 1 Eye . . . . . .
Super
Lovely version. Many thanks from Kerala. ❤️
