Two Months ALONE Across The American Southwest
This summer I spent two months on a road trip across the Southwestern United States, driving from Southern California all the way to Telluride, Colorado. On the way, I had the opportunity to visit Zion National Park, remote areas of southern Utah, and Arches National Park.
While previous similar excursions of mine have focused around photography, I decided to shoot almost exclusively video for this trip. I have to admit the process of capturing video while camping, driving and hiking was quite challenging, but I am also quite pleased that I was able to document such an incredible experience.
I decided to put almost no commentary in this video. So, it's more of a silent film. I hope you find it relaxing and interesting to watch.
All footage was shot on my Fujifilm X-T4 with the 16-80 f4 lens.

Turning 40 (Chat and Portrait Painting in Procreate)
zhlédnutí 119Před 4 měsíci
Well, the day has finally arrived. I turned 40 years-old today. So, I thought to commemorate this occasion, I would make a video about it. A video about what it has been like to become a middle-aged person. Additionally, I've been getting more and more into digital art, illustration, and painting over the last few years. So, I decided that might be a nice backdrop to this little essay I wrote a...
I Spent A Night Shooting Video in Bangkok
zhlédnutí 300Před 9 měsíci
I recently spent a month and a half in Bangkok, Thailand. While I didn't do quite as much photography there as I would have liked, I thought I would put together a short video of the footage and travel photography that I did take during my trip. Everything in this video was shot on the Fujifilm X-E3 (both photos and video), along with the 27mm F2.8 pancake lens from Fujifilm. The X-E3 is new to...

If you enjoyed the hilarity of Thomas, you can find more of him here: @Smuuuth I haven't been to that many countries, but so far, Japan is perhaps one of if not my most favorite place for photography. There's just something about the aesthetic and the general vibe of the country, perhaps it just suits my visual preferences. No matter the reason, it is also a beautiful and fantastic place to vis...
Tips for Drawing Skulls
zhlédnutí 81Před rokem
I've been working on drawing skulls lately, in an effort to improve my portrait artwork. This is almost the 100th skull I've drawn in the last month, so I thought I would share a few of the lessons I learned here on the channel. This was just done with pencil, a Muji Ink pen and some Alcohol markers by ArrtX. Hope you enjoy!

Does The Lumix G7 Still Hold Up? :: Architecture Photo Walk - POV :: Palm Springs
zhlédnutí 2,6KPřed rokem
I was in need of a relaxing photo walk, so I decided to get out the old Panasonic Lumix G7 and take a short trip to Palm Springs, California. There are some neighborhoods there with some really neat Mid-Century Modern Architecture that I have never photographed before. Though I wasn't sure how things would go with only the G7 and a 20mm 1.7 lens, I was pleasantly surprised to walk away with some...
Don't Quit Making Art

This year has been an interesting journey for me, creatively. I've been pretty dedicated to working on this CZcams channel as well as my photography and other visual arts, but things have been growing pretty slowly. Add to that the introduction of AI generated art, and things sometimes feel pretty solemn in the personal art department. Something I've realized this year, however, is that publici...
The Fujifilm X-T4 | Should You Upgrade?
zhlédnutí 310Před rokem
With the latest releases of the Fujifilm X-H2, X-H2s and X-T5, I thought I might take a second to talk about one of my favorite cameras ever the Fujifilm X-T4. It's easy to think that just because a new version of a camera comes out, that somehow the old cameras are obsolete. However, I have found the exact opposite to be true. Not only for Fujifilm cameras, but for many other manufacturers as ...
The End of Photography & The Explosion of A.I. Photos

AI art and AI generators seem to be everywhere on my social media feeds these days. While at first I was resistant to it, eventually I decided I needed to start using them to see what all of the news was about. In this video, I talk about my experiences with artificial intelligence and A.I. art generators, as well as what I think this new technology means for the future of photography. For me, ...
Is This The Best Fujifilm Lens?
zhlédnutí 2,8KPřed rokem
I've been taking photographs with the Fujifilm X system for a number of years now, and while I have not used every single lens in their lineup, I have found a few favorites over the years. However, this is one that I just can't seem to put down, it goes with me on every single trip. And, while it may not be the sharpest, lightest, or fastest lens in their lineup, I think the case can still be m...
Does The Canon 5d Mark II Still Hold Up?
zhlédnutí 35KPřed rokem
It's now been over 14 years since the release of the legendary Canon 5D Mark ii. And, while I wanted one pretty desperately when it came out, I couldn't afford it at that point in my life. However, now it is an extremely cheap way for you to do some full frame digital photography. So, I thought I would buy one to test it out and see if it still holds up in the modern era. What I found was a cam...

While spending a day at the beach with a friend, I decided to get out my GoPro and my Fujifilm X-T4 and make my first POV Photography video. With summer coming to a close here, it was a really nice way to spend the end of the afternoon on the coast of Cal...

Is it the svvizera
Yeah, I'm buying one of these. Can you tell me a little about your camera set up in this video? What camera was this shot with and what's holding it? Is it on a harness?
Beautiful.
Very nice
Inspiring video.... Thanks
8000 is low for u lol
Where was that? SoCal? Never seen that kind of mist/haze, beautiful! Picking up one of these any day now as my first real camera. Thanks for the demonstration of the camera, getting more stoked the more videos i watch.
Yes, San Clemente California. Enjoy your camera.
Awesome drawing!
Thanks!
Do you remember the camera settings?
Mostly I shoot in manual or aperture priority mode. The settings aren't that important. Can be learned in an afternoon. Composition is how the photography is made.
2024 still alive
Some of the greatest images in the last 20 years were taken on the Canon 5D and 5D2. Great cameras don't stop being great just because technology moves on. You need to ask yourself "Why did these cameras take great images?". There's no question that Sony came along and raised the technology bar but then people spent hours trying to get their Sony images to look like Canon images. Nothing in photography is more important than the images, and the images from these early Canons look amazing (throw the Canon 6D in there as well). Today you can buy a Canon 5D + Canon 5D2 + Canon 6D + 50mm 1.8 .. for the same price as the latest iPhone. 300 dollars for an immaculate 5D2!!! I mean what are people waiting for?
omg. He shoots on auto??? haha :D ok.. i thought he is photographer... Guess not... Just not worth watching further!!
After seeing your video, i told myself man i dont want to sell my g7 anymore + photography sites want to give me like 120 euros for it! Nah im good i will keep my g7😂
If you are looking for a GREAT camera, a D5 Mk ii is an absolute steal at current prices!!
Still shoot an XT2 in 2024, along with a Nikon FM2n film camera for personal stuff. I also have an XT4 and honestly I find the XT2 more enjoyable to shoot.
Interesting but, $700 used without a lens ?
what lens were u using. i’m about to buy the 5d mark iii and have a sigma 70-300. i know you used a 50 mm prime but was the brand sigma/tamron,etc. thank you so much for making this video!!
It was the Canon 50mm 1.8. D version if I remember right. Not expensive
@@john_neilthanks! what f-stop do you usually shoot on. especially for photos where you have a subject and would like some background visible
I have an Ursa12k with S35 and a Takumar 28mm lens. What can I do so that the image section is a real 28mm and not so zoomed in? I really want to have the “real” 28mm look on the camera. Should I buy a 20mm lens so that it looks like a real 28mm thanks to the crop / FF to S35 conversion? Unfortunately I don't understand.
That was great and nicely presented! The answer I was looking for...
Glad I could help!
Mate Great
Great video and some great shots. Love the beach looks. It's kinda unbelievable that one can buy a 2300$ semipro full frame camera like this for 300-500$ now. This was my dream back in the day in 2009. With the right lens and some practice it produces stunning results. Thank you.
It's a great camera. Thanks for commenting.
My first DSLR camera that I purchased recently (early this year, 30k miles in 14 years). I spent a very long time choosing between crop and full frame, settled on this camera and did not regret it. Yes, it’s old, and it’s hard to take pictures, but I no longer have enough of a phone and this is a conscious choice, the result of the photographs is impressive.
Very few cameras since, if any, can match the colour rendition of the 5D mk1 or mk2.
The digic processor is the best in the mark 2, along with the chassis.
Nice :) It's a cliche but it's the photographer not the camera. Just look at the greatest photographs ever taken in the history of the art form. They are on old cameras. Some way more basic than the Canon 5D mark 2. You also pay less for older cameras. Not always but usually. Unless you want to keep up the Joneses. The vast majority of people looking at your pictures won't know or care what you used. Question is, do you have the skill to use a camera that doesn't have, for example, 1,000 focus points and right-eye dominant autofocus. Good photographers do.
It's 2024 and I'm going to buy d7200 as an upgrade of my current D300.
Still a great camera
On my way to Spain so this is helpful .....
Have a great trip. I loved my short time in Madrid.
very goood video !!!!!!
Thank you.
I own the same setup minus the strap 🔥
Thank you so much for this review, I'm trying to decide what video camera to get for my travel pages and don't really understand all the camera lingo alot of the time so I just get confused and see big £ signs and don't know what I'm doing 😄 this review is great I just need to know if it will do what I need, without me spending a ton of money xx
You're welcome, enjoy your camera.
Love my G7 in 2024 it’s a 4k BEAST WITH MY 50mm 1.2❤
11:34 You can set your exposure once check that its right then you should be able to (in relatively static lighting) either adjust relative to it or leave it alone. Most of the time the people that chimp are shooting in an assisted mode anyway not manual ... not to mention all modern DSLRs have multiple different light meters in them. Sorry but I disagree. Your job as a photographer is to concentrate on the subject not on the camera.
My 6D's screen dies, so no chimping for me.. Manual exposure isn't very viable though.
@@mikafoxx2717 Why?
Kindly recommend me a versatile budget lens with it for photos and film too....thanx
Is it still your favourite or do you have more ? Awesome video and pictures 🤩😍
X-T1 is still a great camera.
I still have 5D2...I love it! :) I used it when I was working in a studio many years ago. So I bougth one last year, in box for 180 USD. I have many other cameras....but there is something special about the 5D MK2. :)
I just bought an Xt2. I love it getting used to it. I am coming from a nikon d700 which I still use and love also
Use with - EOS 5Dsr ?
Honestly, this is also what I have done. I'm getting ready to go on a 1 month photography road trip, and expecting to take 20K+ photos.... I can fit that many on four 128gb SD cards, so figuring 8 would give me a double copy of those. "IF" I could see I was coming up on 20K shots, and not going to have enough storage, I could always buy a few more cards "during" my trip. SD memory cards are pretty easy to get, and I'll be hitting a Wal Mart for groceries every few days anyway. Guess I need to get a few more cards.... and that little carrying case :) Thank you :)
The D5 ii produces the best colours of any Camera Canon made and since. If you want to shoot video, get a video camera. Its up there with the D700, but its primitive focus points are not so good for moving subjects.
The Trans X 3 sensor is my favorite. Im happy to know that I wont be wasting any money on a later model.
Nice video! Sorry what lens was this mate? Thanks!
Hi John! Thanks for the video! Have you had time yet to test the Sigma 18-55, 2.8? Especially in combo with the 40mp sensor?
I love my Mark D ii ❤😊
Hey, awesome video! I’m torn between an XS10 or XT2 for 4k video. Just getting serious doing videography in 4k. Should I get the XT2 and invest on lenses?
I wish I lived somewhere as photogenic as this! Canon 5d mk2 is a masterpiece of a camera, always will be! Loved this video, subbed!
Hello, I think to buy a used D7200 (Shutter count only 3500) with the Sigma 150 - 600 mm F5,0-6,3 DG OS HSM Contemporary (only 100 pictures made with this lens), the Nikkor 18-105 mm, the Nikkor 55-200 mm and the Nikkor 18-55 mm. The price would be overall 800 €. Do you think this is a suitable allround setup for shooting wildlife, landscapes portraits etc. and what would you think of the price? Best regards from austria
Got one in 2024 😅
Amazing work. Top notch. May I know what sharpness settings you used here? Also any promist filters? What strength? Thanks
If I remember right, just default sharpness. No filters. Straight out of camera. Thanks for the comment. :)
I was fighting for a canon 90d, I like storms and sport but for 350 euros I got a XT2, it is an ideal machine for my uses, only for my telephoto lenses like 600mm I lose 50 due to the 1.5x crop. Good video!
