    Mission idea: Move the camel from point A to point B without the it getting hurt. You have to fly fast and low: time limit would force the player to keep moving and enemy fire + ground covers would make the player fly as low as possible using the covers. If the camel hits the ground when you're flying fast, it takes damage and the missions fails. Bullet hits to the chopper don't hurt the camel, but the bullets might hit the camel which is a no-no. Also if the chopper gets hit by a rocket, the camel automatically takes damage from the blast and its mission failed. Also to bring more variety to the gameplay in general, you could add missions which have a modern military ground-to-air anti aircraft laser weapon which US military already has. Player would get a 10 second warning before the laser turn on an does tons of damage to the players helicopter. This would again force the player to adopt completely different methods/tactics/approaches to missions, using covers a lot more and quickly moving from one cover to the next. Another idea: Player needs to catch a moving vehicle which carries some important cargo. The vehicle is moving at constant speed deeper and deeper into the heavily guarded enemy lines. The player needs to either fight or avoid/sneak past the enemy lines avoiding getting hit or destroying the enemy units. Slow players who stay and fight everything are more likely to have to combat each and every unit they meet, eventually letting the cargo escape. So a nice balance between stealth and combat is optimal, depending on the skill level of the player in each category (comabat vs. stealth).

      The WarBRD-D has the advantage, but they're not terribly far off. Generally any USB flight sim controller will work with any flight sim game, be it civil or combat. If you ever think you might branch into combat sims after doing civil, you might want to buy something like this, so you're future proofed. Just note that a lot of high end joysticks lack a 'twist' for the rudder, whilst budget ones will have a twist. Without a twist you'll want to buy a set of rudder pedals to go with it to compensate, dedicated rudder pedals are much more accurate., esp for helicopters.

    • @RedKiteRender
      @RedKiteRender Před 25 dny

  • @Deltarious
    @Deltarious Před 25 dny

    I have an X-52 and I'll say about the airbrakes you *do* get used to holding it if you only have 'momentary' type switches. I usually have it set up so that I hold one button for extend and then press/tap one button for full retract which seems to work quite well and at least in DCS is supported in almost all aircraft (but with software you *can* force it to work in every aircraft). The only time it gets particularly annoying is in aircraft that have configurations where the airbrake auto retracts without continuous input such as the viper when gear down retracting to that partially out state when sometimes I want it full and holding it is possible but a little inconvenient. I did get used to it more or less fully though, so it's only a minor impact for me. ...having said that if I were buying a new product this *would* factor into my opinion as there's no denying that it's quite a lot nicer to have it be a held switch

    Virpil should stop trying to invent designs and ergonomics and just inspire directly from what is used IRL. If they do change those crappy hats and come with better layouts I may want to buy Virpil again. For now Winwing has still the edge but Virpil is far superior in terms of build quality. @@simonhouel1984 Let me offer my take as someone who is very much in the target market for Virpil's high-end stick/throttle options. I generally dislike pure replica setups. I fly a wide variety of DCS modules and need something that can handle a lot of different control configurations without getting trapped by the limitations of replicas. Likewise. I also play MSFS so having a wide variety of controls makes a lot more sense than just replicating a Warthog, F-16, Hornet, or the like. One thing to keep in mind. My prior HOTAS was a TM Warthog. It was okay for the time (there wasn't really anything better) but as more and more DCS modules came out, I increasingly got frustrated with the lack of versatility that came with using a replica setup. I know that some folks find it more immersive to have one for one replica HOTAS arrangements but since I don't just fly one module, I don't really see the point in limiting myself to a setup exclusive to a specific aircraft. As far as ergonomics go. I have no problems with the Virpil setup. There are aspects that I certainly would have done differently but they are minor in the grand scheme of things. It is a comfortable, versatile HOTAS that I never need to fuss with. I know I will be able to bind everything without a problem.

    Firstly as everyone else is saying there's no rush or pressure on content, or at least there shouldn't be, and you should go at the pace that works best for you. Second though, I'd watch your Raven One stuff literally as an unedited direct upload because I enjoy how you do it, and given I make them myself I certainly don't mind mistakes. I do love the 'full finished product' you put out for it, and they are amazing, but even unedited I feel you're already like 75-80% of the way there? They'd still be fantastic. Oh and lastly, I still use your stick/flight hardware reviews as gospel. I'm getting closer to pulling the trigger on an upgrade (but not there yet), but I have actually used it to help guide the decisions of others several times at this point, and I genuinely use your input as one of the core methods to inform my opinions on it, since we seem to share a lot of values as to what's important in the hardware and also seem to share some of the less tangible opinions when it comes to 'feel'. Plus I find you to be as objective and fair as possible with them, I'm a big fan of that segment of your content.

    Espetially since the model changes I do find myself doing silly stuff like that more often. My personal favourite 'descent' is actually to pull up the nose and force a flatspin then try to point the nose as level to the horizon as it will go before breaking out of the spin with hopefully enough altitude left. It's one of my favourite manuvers in the Hornet because the designers were *so* worried about spins that the aircraft completely freaks out, but it's design is good enough that it just naturally recovers from a spin even if you don't use 'spin mode'

    Digging the Raven and the Locust. You got a Kitfox or a Cicada back there somewhere?

      Been meaning to get a Kit fox! no Cicadas. Those on the table are a Bushwacker, unpainted Longbow, Raven, Locust and a House Arano Blackjack (per the HBS Battletech game tutorial intro)

    STECS is tad cheaper yet offer better customizability, more modularity, and much better detent, not sure why Virpil thought this was a good idea. If the price of this is 15-20% cheaper than the STECS then this would make more sense as a budget option

      @@Not-today-wb9do yea, also less functionality. You are insane with the bias of "metal always better than plastic".
