There is a Hadith in Sahih bukhari 2812. It's about that our beloved prophet SAW said a rebellious group will kill Ammar ibn e Yasir RA and that group will be in hell fire. And after the time passed, group of mauaviya Ra killed Ammar ibn e Yasir. So going by this hadith mauaviya RA was wrong. Correct me if I am wrong. But first check the Hadith yourself.
