Dude HELL YEAH! I always have to check out your videos when i get the notifications... your style is super cool! Im finally getting into bass again, now that i have a bass student again at guitar center! 🎉 Thanks for inspiring me!!!! 🙏
@@jamisonfernandez9751 thanks so much man! And teaching is great, it’ll help you analyze your own player and will help you get better quicker!! Thanks for following my work !
Did you hone your technique by just translating a bunch of solo piano works to bass? I always hear so much Philip Glass in it
Not just by doing that but it was certainly a part of it. I would practice a lot to a metronome and would work on the same ideas with different rhythmic pulses underneath. And i have learned a chunk of Glasses work, check out my cover of Glassworks!
@@JohnFerraraMusic I have, it’s so good.
@@chaucermarberry7615 thanks man!!
Love this
Thanks dude! As always it is much appreciated!
I can't watch these videos and not say how impressive and enjoyable these pieces are. Mind-blowing stuff!
Simply amazing
Thanks dude!!!
As always, a solid listening experience.
Another fantastic composition by an artist always worth revisiting.
🤯
My man!
Really fast and varied The Eyes Have It? Love it!
lol good ear. Its not from that song though i do similar scale runs in the solo section for sure!
Sick dude that's awesome! Is this back in Costa rica?
Thanks man! Nope this is like 30 minutes from me in CT
NASTY - make it a CTS song??
Sick dude
@@1ManBassBand thanks my man !
Works well with midnight gospel in the bg
@@jenkenstein3D good eye!! One of my all time favorite shows
@@JohnFerraraMusic mine too. I want more! 🤣
This technique reminds me the delay in songs like Big Sur Moon by Buckethead
@@aJazzcat cool I’ll have to check that out! I was just helping a student of mine learn a bucket head song today
No way we got Trevor playing a bass with a whammy bar before GTA6🙏🏻💀
Why does bro look like Trevor from GTA five💀
Man I love this song
YOU RULE DUDE!!!
Loved this from start to finish. Ditto to what everyone else said about your style and technique.
@@raymondlehman5548 thanks so much Raymond that really means a lot! Most certainly put a lot of work and love into it
LIT
@@jamesmccoy8568 thanks dude!
The end made me throw my phone lol😂 Whatever a Tigrin is idk but landing on those low notes was satisfying to listen to
@@MrDavincidave thanks man! I’ll show you some Tigran and the next lesson, it’ll blow your mind
Thats some good bass playing!!
@@Jaynepvg thanks so much! I appreciate it!!!
Tigran Hamasyan rules!!!
@@user-if8nd6yb9n he most certainly does!
I like the momentum build-ups right at like 3:00 and 3:35, and the increases in pace that follow. The slow keys in the back match the vibe just right.
Oh, my, God….. this- this is absolutely stunning!!! Incredible sir, simply- incredible!!
@@Silvermoon916 thank you my friend!! Doing my best!!
Insane 🤯 and beautiful note choices
@@jenkenstein3D :) thank you! I love these chord voicings
Very well done! Getting a huge Tom Jenkinson vibe off that play style.
@@fcon2123 man he gets so much well deserved credit for his electronic stuff but his solo bass work is unbelievably cool
Which bass is that?
It's a Fodera Monarch 5 with a high C string! It's my baby
@@JohnFerraraMusic I see 😯
Is the rh tremolo technique thump pointer middle ring? Sounds dope.
It starts with a left hand tap, then goes Thumb, index, middle. Watch one of my last shorts on Tremelo tapping, it explains it! ( i had a typo in it that said ring but i meant middle in it though!!)
That’s insane man I’ve never seen a bass played like that, god damn
Thanks! i'm nothing if not a weirdo :)!!
Favorite current bass player! Cant wait to see you guys at KOTA this year!
@@samuelgrim899 ahhh thanks so much Samuel! That means a lot! So excited to rock KOTA!!
My bass doesn’t do that
@@Julien_grsc_elka you have to make it do it!!!!
@@JohnFerraraMusic but seriously tho, I never seen that. Like HOW ??
@@Julien_grsc_elka it’s hard to explain via text, but elements are practicing slapping patterns whatever they are very slowly to a metronome and building it up very gradually overtime. It is mixed with having the absolute lightest touch possible while creating thump and pluck sounds.
Name is cool. Music is not repetitive. Thank you guys.
@@bryang8005 lol thanks buddy
Whats the name of this song?
@@bryang8005 it’s called Mouth Say Tounge! I have a video of the full song here on my YT page
I know this one!
@@1ManBassBand lol you sure do !?
This piece has great flow. It builds well, carries the appropriate momentum throughout, and has the perfect duration for what's included. Fantastic composition!
@@raymondlehman5548 thanks for listening and for your thoughtful remarks . It means a lot man!
light work no reaction -a percussionist whose never touched a stringed instrument in their life
🤣
WHOA
Thanks my man!
i definitely do not see the tapping pretty wild
@@Cornwalas2 it’s there I promise haha
Awesome sound, i I need to move my sound away from the bass and choose more acoustic with echo feel. Nice sound for a Sunday evening.
@@brianball1399 thanks man! Yea for solo bass stuff I like to use reverb and thin my tone .
@@JohnFerraraMusic thanks for the advice ❤️
Yea dude, awesome technique!
@@b.e.farrow7591 thanks a lot my man!
This touches the soul. Otherworldly talent
@@bryang8005 thanks so much Bryan!
why does this bass' neck look so thick?! :o what kind is it?!
@@Kyle-xr4lt it’s a Fodera , it does have a wide neck and wide string spacing but it plays like a dream
Dude this sounds incredible. Its such a creative use of familiar sounds. Great work!
@@798Muchoman thanks so much dude!! I really appreciate it!
Love how much you shift around the fretboard but it never sounds choppy, it always flows so well.
Ever tried a chapman stick? 😊😊
@@stefanmachler8295 I have… I’d love to have one one day !
@@JohnFerraraMusic go for it! 😃
Fantastic!
Thanks so much man!!
This is excellence.
Thanks so much !!!
Nice bassin
:) why thank you!
What is this song
It hasn’t been recorded yet, but it’s something I’ve had on the back burner for a year or so!
@@JohnFerraraMusic it’s sounds great
@@isonnijarvi5652 thanks so much! I’ll release it at some point!! Follow me on Spotify if you don’t already ! You rule dude !
@@JohnFerraraMusic I follow🙂
What string gauge do you use ?
I used the Fodera light gauge set E-C. My high see is a .28 and my E is 100
