This is a sneak peak at the next album I will release. On this album 95% of the parts are played on my bass, but I've gone to great lengths to make it not sound like it was. This song is an example of this.
In this polyrhythmic based piece I use tapping, an Ebow, (electric bow) an Octave pedal, a keyboard (only for some textural reinforcements) and I programmed the drums. It began as a solo piece that I had for a long time and couldn't seem to get it going in any other projects. It was too busy and constantly shifting, but I always had a general direction in mind for where the song could go so I decided to record it myself.
The title came to me while contemplating the inner workings of my own mind. During the time I recorded this album it was always at war with itself. We always have a choice on what we can do with the thoughts. They can be used to inform our future and thus rendered assets to us or they can consume us, constantly fighting ourselves and forging the neural connections of the thought process / emotional loop deeper and deeper until it calcifies.
Also, I feel the need to nip this in the bud.... I'm not an "Imagined Dragons" fan and the title had nothing to do with them. Nothing against them (aside from that one friggin commercial that kept popping up on Hulu a couple years back.... ugh....), but figured I'd put it out there before the comments come flooding in. I know they will anyway...
Huge thanks to Nick at @nuklabstudios for mixing, videoing and editing this beast as quickly and efficiently as one can. Check out his band "Balkun Brothers" too if you have a second they rock!!
I hope you enjoy!

Beautiful piece of music. Loving your work. Keep it up.
Thank you so so much! I’m very much enjoying the process of creating these songs
Listened twice and coming back for more later. That Ebow is freaky!! I love cello too John, and the whole piece is melodically compelling.
( That’s me trying to articulate complex concepts concisely😜) Seriously man, just great🙏
You did great man lol! The ebow and volume swells are the closest tools I have to creating Cello like sounds and sustain. Thank you so much for listening, I'll be posting more and more stuff like this!
Very cool, as always.👍
Thanks Eugene!
Awesome! 🤘🏻
That E bow sounds sweet dude
That thing is amazing! You’d love it!
Cool 😎
Thanks man!
