    My BMR is 2600 for a 33yr male thats now 359lbs. IS this correct? Iv been trying to be around 1600 daily on myfitnesspal. with now adding cardio, 1 hr treadmill walks, for that weight at incline im hitting like 750 cals burned is what it says.

    At 5’8 I was like 207lbs like 4-5 days ago I am and today after going on a calories deficit of 987.5 for two days I am now 195 and only worked out once in that time. Maybe it’s because I put on a few lbs but I was pretty toned at 170lbs after working out for a couple months before so maybe that’s why

    At 80 I just began my journey of healthy eating.😉 my upbringing was meat and potatoes, but it did somewhat improve when I had kids. Love my sugar, too much, but now that I started the Mediterranean diet I find that I am able to reduce my sugar intake. I have the Smart Mediterranean diet cookbook and found it intriguing, the first 25 pages were very educational. So those of you young folks out there who wonder if they can make a change I can reassure you that you can. And you definitely feel better when you eat healthier.😊

    I always get jealous seeing people say their maintenance calories are 2K+ because mine is 1600 calories. I am fairly active but I’m not exactly sure how to measure that or if I even should take it into account when figuring out my deficit.

      Only fish that can’t be eaten while pregnant is fish that is high in mercury (tuna, shark, swordfish, etc.) but eating other types of seafood while pregnant actually has lots of benefits, especially salmon!

      Also adding that some cooked fish is very healthy to have once or twice a week (limiting to that due to mercury concerns) like salmon, shrimp or tuna. However, sardines are the lowest mercury fish and safe to consume every single day even while pregnant. They are an excellent source of calcium (thanks to the bones) and other nutrition, for everyone! Not just expecting moms

    Adopting a plant-based diet can be surprisingly straightforward. Once you're accustomed to it, it requires no more planning than a non-vegan diet. Simply ensure you consume a diverse range of foods and sufficient calories, and remember to include a daily B12 supplement. Focus on whole foods such as grains, legumes, fruits, vegetables, nuts, and seeds. To monitor your intake, consider using a nutrient calculator like Cronometer. Concerns about protein are often overstated. By consuming enough calories from a varied plant-based diet, you'll typically get all the protein you need-no need for protein powders, protein bars, or meticulous food combining. Protein deficiency is uncommon unless one is consuming too few calories. It's curious that more emphasis isn't placed on the nutrients that are frequently lacking in modern diets, such as a range of antioxidants from fresh fruits and vegetables, both soluble and insoluble fiber, resistant starches, potassium, magnesium, and folate. These are crucial for health, and yet they don't seem to receive as much attention as protein. Why is there such an obsession with protein anyway? The body efficiently manages amino acids through a dynamic amino acid pool sourced from dietary proteins, body protein degradation, and synthesis. Proteins are continually synthesized and degraded, recycling amino acids back into the pool. While direct storage of amino acids is minimal, they are stored via incorporation into body proteins, particularly muscle. This process is tightly regulated by hormones like insulin, which promotes amino acid uptake and protein synthesis, ensuring that cells have access to necessary amino acids for critical biological functions. Protein deficiency is rare in the American diet, as most people consume more than the recommended amount, often from animal sources like meat and dairy. In fact, the concern is more often excessive protein intake, which can lead to health issues such as kidney strain and heart disease.

The kidneys are responsible for filtering blood, including metabolites from protein digestion such as urea and ammonia. A high-protein diet requires the kidneys to work harder to excrete these byproducts, which can be particularly taxing for individuals with pre-existing kidney conditions or reduced kidney function. Over time, this increased workload can exacerbate kidney disease or contribute to its development. Heart Disease: Diets high in certain types of animal protein are often also high in saturated fats and cholesterol, which are risk factors for cardiovascular disease. Consuming large amounts of red and processed meats has been linked to higher cholesterol levels, increased blood pressure, and an elevated risk of heart disease. Additionally, excessive protein can lead to weight gain and obesity when it contributes to a calorie surplus, further increasing the risk of cardiovascular problems. The connection between high protein intake and these health issues highlights the importance of moderation and balance in dietary protein consumption, focusing on lean and plant-based proteins to mitigate these risks.

    This doesn’t work it’s impossible losing weight because every gynecologists gives you birth control which bloats you and trick you like you’re pregnant. Therefore you can’t lose weight. I changed gyno 4 times they all do this. Exercising and dieting doesn’t nothing to help when the root of the problem is always ignored by the medical world

    It is rare to find an honest video about carbs. Carbs have become the frequent punching bag of the dieting community thanks to all the fad diets - all of which are basically amalgamations of each other. Whether it’s gluten or lechtins that are to blame, Carbs are the boogeyman in all of those diets😂. Carnivore, Keto, Gundry, South Beach, Paleo, Atkins. I tire of debating with these people about it. I am currently in my pre summer shred and consume between 225 grams and 255 grams of carbs a day. Lost 20 lbs in 2.5 months. And I am not burning muscle while doing it like most of these fad dieters are. Anyways, couldn’t agree with you more.

    If i eat over 1,150 i always gain weight somehow. Even though my basal is 1,150. I have to eat 1k or less or i gain weight - idk how maybe i just have bad genetics. Im 94-97 pounds (i fluctuate between the 2 every single day somehow.) And 14 and 11 months. I dont get it. How can people eat their maintenance and not gain weight???
