    Excellent, abviously flexibility is super helpful. Most men don't have that [except Hanyu]. Arms are important, and unless you've taken dance, unexplained by skate coaches. You mention them, but can you make something specific to arms and line? Love these!

    Hilfteiches Video. Vielen Dank 🙏🏻! 👍 Die Auslaufposition ist insgesamt schön. Allerdings finde ich die Hand/ Fingerhaltung unschön. Ich bevorzuge Hände, die sich formschön und ästhetisch am Ballett orientieren.

      So happy you like our videos ❤️ I really helpful tip I have found is to practice your official warm up. Let’s say if it’s 4mins you want to know exactly what you’re doing for those 4mins. That way you feel like you’ve maximised your warmup and feel great going out for competition. Set small goals for this competition. Don’t worry about placement as it’s your very first competition and don’t want to put extra pressure on yourself. Have fun and take in the experience. You will have a blast. Let us know how you go ❤️❤️❤️ good luck 😉

Flash forward, now I’m 50 and have picked it up again BUT I have lost so much technique and now trying to re-teach myself with much difficulty! Your videos are SO helpful on what I should be working on and HOW. Thank you so much Stacey! Been trying these in my last session. How do you keep your direction of travel going down the ice instead skating a circle on the inside edge?

    • @nextedgetutorials
      @nextedgetutorials Před 7 dny

      After you step/push onto the back outside edge from the forward inside edge, you must press that back outside edge and make sure shoulders are open. The curves should be even. If you only have good forward inside edge, the S step won’t keep moving down the ice. I hope this helps. You can always DM us on our instagram so I can send you move videos on the S step 👍

  • @MrGutterbunny
    @MrGutterbunny Před 9 dny

    Super elegant graceful arms. It's absolutely possible to make even basic skills look more advanced and interesting by emphasising upper body and arms. I think however many people arent naturally drawn to using their arms in this way, particularly if they're not from a dance background. If you can get over the "do i look a bit silly" doing this... You'll be the envy of the rigid army ;)

    • @nextedgetutorials
      @nextedgetutorials Před 7 dny

      Practice at home in the mirror to get comfortable 👍❤️ this will help lots. Just try adding a couple of arms on your warm up on the ice and getting comfortable with that. Before you know it, you will be doing it naturally without thinking 😉❤️

    Of course I’ll suggest this since I’m a former ballerina who went into figure skating and recently went back to ballet to help with skating, but ballet training should be more required/popularized as a very important training for figure skating. Not only musicality, artistry, posture, body lines, but port de bra absolutely makes a difference if the skater has ballet experience and training.

      Yes, totally! I am used to balancing on one leg (like what we did on the beam), but I think moving on that one leg is throwing me off. I just have to get used to constant motion. But it’s really fun, too. I started the learn to skate program today! They put me in beginner 6. I need to do the T stop on my bad leg better.
