A small tutorial about how to use Cloth in the new Cinema 4D 2024 to create some curtains. Using 2024.4 here. There are bugs here and there, but overall do-able.

Why didn't you increase the subdivision surface instead of making a subdivision in the clothes surface?
because this way im increasing the resolution of the cloth geometry that's being simulated. the subd object at the top, is just a visual change.

Has to be one of the worst 'tutorials' I've ever come across, sort of 'hit and miss play it by ear' type of thing rather than going through Preferences step-by-step highlighting and explaining main features. Still, it does touch base on a few things such as 'disable auto update', 'auto hide skin', 'open selected files only', 'allow more than one potplayer instance', 'playback loop' but not much else. Mind, we must still be thankful never mind the lack of 'tutorial'P.S. might have a look at czcams.com/video/OudeavEXt-E/video.html after watching this.

I've got a rig of a goat that I used spline IK on. It works great when not animated. But when I add keyframes and scrub through the timeline my joints continually offset in the rotation. Any idea why this might be? I used the toon model in the character builder to set up the initial build, so you'd think everything would be set up appropriately. Thanks!
i think there is a twist setting somewhere which might help. i haven't had much luck combining in built rigs with customizations. i usually build my stuff from scratch.
@@ace5 Wow, thanks for the quick response! I actually have all my twist settings off and it's still happening. I should have built the whole rig from the ground up. I usually do. I was impressed with the whole face rig of the toon build. That part is strong and stable, this spline IK is just giving me quite a fuss. I might try to just replace the spline IK with a normal IK. Thanks again for the response! Love your channel.
you're welcome :) the twist should be on. because then the controllers affect the twisting. otherwise it tries to guess itself.
@@ace5 That's it! That's why the animation makes the joints slip over time. After doing more digging into the rig I found out that the rigs spine joints aren't all aligned properly. So when I turn on the twist feature, my mesh gets all messed up. So now I just have to figure out how to realign the spine joints and then rebind them to the mesh without messing up the rest of the rig. Thanks so much for helping me! You're a life saver!
just deparent /turn off skin deformer. turn on twist, reparent controllers, set new bind pose, turn on skin deformer :)) happy to help 😊
If i put these on a cloud storage file and share with coworkers -- is there any danger of corrupting the database if we use it at the same time? Say for instance, i create a material, and they modify that material while i have it open?
i recommend doing some testing. but last i heard this wasn't reliable. probably won't corrupt but you may loose new stuff you try to save. so you should be fine if you're just distributing. but i wouldn't recommend having multiple people edit it at once.

Where is the best place to learn how to animate by hand in c4d? mostly characters I guess? I cant seem to find many tutorials on it , would really appreciate it , going to buy your character but would love to have resources in hand to be able to go off of, thanks again for the amazing tutorial I learnt some stuff!
i learn from maya tutorials. :)) the concepts are the same, just need to learn where the buttons are.

I am disappointed that MAXON has worsened the browser since Cinema version 24. Therefore, I use the old version. And since over the years they have not restored the functionality of the old browser (as I hoped), I will have to retrain for a Blender.
I am afraid it's going to be extremely slow. I still have 2023.2.0, linked with old libraries and it takes ages to load.

you should check their forums, but generally by hand. in other renders it's the same, the have converters, but that are not good :( alt dragging new materials onto old materials in materials manager, will make thanks go faster though :)

Hey, I have a question: Is it possible to rig an animated character without losing its animations? I'm looking for a way to edit pre-baked animal animations through rigging, similar to Mixamo. Any suggestions or insights would be greatly appreciated! or can we retarget the bake anim to rig character

Ace5... A quick question... Is possible rig splines using joing system?
you can create nulls and put them into a tracer. or you can use spline ik tag and create controllers. check my animating splines tutorial :) a

Imagine you have splines prokected in the character geometric...like pencil lines... and you want what when character walk...the spines still stick to the chatacter rigging like the cloth do... I had tried advanced rigging, custom rigging and I can't find the solution..anyway... thanks again :-)@@ace5
