    Beware! Premier Products is not honest! I purchased two of these units. The remote controls are not independent so they're worthless if you have more than one unit. The bolts they include in the kit are too short for many RV roofs (3.1" thick roof max). They are a metric thread that is nearly impossible to find in the appropriate length at common hardware stores. They shipped the units via a regular carrier instead of freight. The units are too heavy for most people so they get slammed around in the shipping process. The packaging for both units arrived completely destroyed. There were scratches and rub marks all over the outside of both units. I contacted Premier Products and they did nothing. I tried leaving a 3-star review on their website, which was more than fair, but they won't publish it. I left a second review, same thing. They moderate their reviews to only show 5 stars. This is just another company that will take your money and then hide from you in the event of an issue. Please take my advice and find somewhere else to spend your money.

      I’m sorry to hear that you had this experience Travis. I know many people who have emailed premier products and they will immediately send them the correct size bolts with their units. They do have the correct size for 5th Wheel and motorhome roof. The bolts that come with it are typically for vans or Airstream And smaller travel trailers. They’ve been great to me and to my viewers.

    After asking you a bunch of questions I FINALLY got my unit … shipped to Iowa where I was visiting and luckily found an excellent rv dealer to install, a lot of crazy work and scheduling but so worth it . One thing I did run across is the unit had a little problem when the humidity was very high so I picked up a small humidifier, problem solved and I was able to go on to Houston to visit my ailing sister and plug into her house . I threw away a “perfectly “ good and extremely loud Coleman… very happy with my purchase and since I live full time in a 5th wheel in CA we want to replace them . Oh the little class C we travel in is a 93 Toyota mini thanks for all the help you provided….. JJ

Truthfully we couldn't figure out what the heck shocks are doing down there at an angle like that anyway Do we need ti fabricate a mounting bracket to duplicate the original slope?? Thanks for any input... I've only just started researching the shocks issue after a lift install

    This review dosen't really get into build quality. Whats missing is a "pop open the hood" inspection of the guts inside. Are the coils all copper? Is the design air flow through the condenser and evaporator of good layout? How about a clip on amp meter reading at the 120v ac input line of the unit in its various cooling speed modes? More technicals less fluff.

      @WhyNotRV Před 14 dny

      Premier products is the distributor I worked with and who you would go to for any issues. The Tosot does not work with you for any issues. No matter of its initial firment and parts to ongoing service, premier products will take care of you

    • @Warm_Pepsi
      @Warm_Pepsi Před 12 dny

      They're literally identical. However Chris's videos seem to show a lower draw than the TOSOT ones. Theres also another one called an Atmos 4.4. However, Jared from AllAboutRv's is running the same unit as Chris and it has the same draw as the TOSOT. When Jared opened his up, he thought it was originally a variable compressor setup. However, it's not and he posted a second video clearing that up and putting a soft start on it. I wonder if some of the units somehow are variable and some arent? When you look inside, they're identical, just rebranded units. Eco-cool offers a "homemade" looking option for a ducted system, however i simply reversed the flow on mine and the ducts are now the returns, and the output is from the units themselves. Helps suck the hot air from the ceiling directly into the units for cooling. @WhyNotRv Can you possibly expand on this variable speed/not variable speed thing? Pop the top cover and see if it's all the same inside guts? Also, the distributor for these is in Elkhart, IN (camper capital of the world), not Ohio. 👍 @stevesadigap6275 The tosot units can be had for under $800 currently, so it's not even a comparison, and the heat pump means you get some good heat as well. I installed my first unit last Sat and it freezes out my bedroom in the camper, but the main toy hauler space is a few degrees warmer during the heat of the day. Bought a second one to swap that too, but just testing the first one out before doing it.

    • @stevesadigap6275
      @stevesadigap6275 Před 12 dny

      @@Warm_Pepsi I ordered the Tosot. I sent an email to Tosot and they verified that both units are built by Gree. Both have 2 year warranties. I also have to say the Tosot has been really fast in responding to my questions via email. It really comes down to who is selling them and what they want to charge. Premier products has chosen a higher price point. I was able to get the Tosot 15k btu non ducted for $809. and free shipping. Hard to pass it up at that price. It has the same low db ratings as the Gree unit, which is more important to me than power consumption. I'm not running on solar or batteries, it's either my genny or campsite hookups. We only care about the quiet sound, my 12 yr old Dometic is like a jet engine

    • @Warm_Pepsi
      @Warm_Pepsi Před 12 dny

      @@stevesadigap6275 yep, only issue I’ve had with tosot was shipping; because they ship via FedEx. FedEx misdelivered (like to the wrong address l) more than once; and they had to send me a replacement unit because it literally never came. That atmos 4.4 seems to be the same but even pricier than the eco-cool branded unit. The ONLY complaints I have about this unit is… 1. The remote not updating when you change something via control panel or app. 2. The inability to see the room temp on the app. Like I don’t care if it’s set to 70; I know I set it there…. Tell me what the actual temp is…. Is it 85 and I need to run out and check on something or is it all good at 70 degrees?

    I was really interested in replacing the three Dominics on my London Aire with these. I called Premier Products, and at the time, they didn't have the ability to tie them into RV-c so I could operate them off the coach Silverleaf system. And if I was to bypass the Silverleaf, they don't have the ability to tie all three of them into one thermostat. Im hoping that as sales advance, they will add these featured.

    • @WhyNotRV

      I’m sure they will but that’s where right now they can all 3 be online and operated from your phone whether you are at the coach or away.

  • @BryantBeers
    @BryantBeers Před 16 dny

    Still definitely not a sustainable cooling solution for off grid use. Sure you're saving 400w when comparing similar rooftop units, but 800w is still no small sum of power. A mini split is still by far the most efficient way to cool your rig using solar/battery. Both of my 12k BTU splits in our bus maintain a 73 degree temperature while consuming 200-300w each. I can see this Gree unit appealing to Vanlifers and RV'ers who plan to be hooked up fairly regularly.

    • @WhyNotRV
      @WhyNotRV Před 16 dny

      There is definitely no argument against minisplits but for 99% of RVers this is the answer. I’m hoping the next year or 2 someone will come out with a true minisplit rooftop style unit and just DESTROY the market

    What do you do about the condensation flowing from the A/C? Does it go down the side of your airstream? Does it cause streaking on the aluminum?

    • @WhyNotRV
      @WhyNotRV Před 16 dny

      Yes it just makes its way down the airstream like any other rv. No streaks at all as of yet. Coming up on a year of this installed.

    • @markhester6377
      @markhester6377 Před 16 dny

      @@WhyNotRV Thanks. Most Airstreams today have pump from the A/C that drains through the trailer to under a tire. This is to prevent corrosion to the aluminum. Other RVs wouldn't care about the condensation draining outside because they are fiberglass, but for Airstream, this is a potential issue with chemicals mixed with the condensation. May be an issue to watch for.

    • @WhyNotRV
      @WhyNotRV Před 16 dny

      Yes. So the condensation is just drained no pump. You could easily fabricate something to use that line if you really wanted to but there’s no chemicals in that water it’s pure clean water absorbed from the air. Nothing to worry about.

    I installed 4 of the Eco Cool units on my H3 45 Prevost and they are completely worth the money. They are extremely quite and when all 4 running only they only pull 24 amps! Everyone cannot believe how quite and how well they cool the coach. If you have not seen these go check them out before you purchase any other brand and see for yourself. Thank you so much for all of the videos on the Eco Cool roof top AC units!

    I just finished upgrading our solar system to 1850 watts of panels on the roof, and 900ah of lithium batteries. I bought a portable ac which I vent using one of the windows in the rv. It's rated at 8000 btu's. My reason for purchasing was so I could run it in our bedroom overnight just off the batteries. On a hot day (90's) it cools just enough so the inside temp is tolerable, not cool. I'm thinking this Gree unit would meet my energy consumptions goals, while also cooling the entire trailer down, and not just the bedroom. Great video. Just stumbled across your channel today.

      The eco-cool unit takes anywhere from about 800 to 1200 W mainly. A 12 V system works just fine. That’s what I have in the Airstream. The only reason you want to go to a 24 or 48 V system is if you were doing a larger build with Solar and maybe dual inverters. 99.9% of RVs can be 12 V configuration all day long.

      At least it's a lower depth than the Onan 2500. I like the dual-fuel aspect of it - and if I can (I know I could) set it up to auto-start off a multiplus 3000 low battery signal, that would make winter boondocking so much safer. Chris, received my new GREE this week and started the installation process today. What a story, started yesterday with hooking up the Airstream to move it to my shop, wanted to use my forklift. Hooking it up I had a nest of wasp under the propane tank, got hit one time, disposed of them. Today, moved the camper to my shop and climbed on top, with yellow jackets flying around. My wife and I had 2 cans of spray and we were busy spraying. Finally I was able to take the old cover off and had 6 nests, lost 2 hours fighting them, no more stings. Finally removed the old unit, cleaned up the caulk from the drain pan. Installed the new unit and moved it back to the house, started it up and you are correct, extremely quiet, cold and strong blower, 99% happy with this AC. The only complaint is that I had ordered a white unit, received a black one. Couldn’t wait on a replacement, needed the AC working. Thank you for the video and I did use the code. KY Ken

    Great video, and awesome job on the solar roof! I mean this in no way to be critical, but have you imagined what it would look like with some sort of lightweight side panels? I look at your set-up, and after seeing a few motorhomes with raised sides to conceal the equipment on the roof, I can see the esthetic benefit, as well as possible aerodynamic improvement. Keep up the good work!

    • @WhyNotRV
      @WhyNotRV Před měsícem

      I appreciate it. I take all criticism and appreciate all inputs. That definitely never crossed my mind mainly because my thought process was to have plenty of airflow underneath the panels so that I’m not trapping any heat as well as an airflow can just blow right underneath of them for crosswind situations.
