Nice update but I live in Texas so when your exterior temp get to over 100° can you please make another update for us Texan’s?
I avoid those temps at all costs lol. When I go to work it could be up in those temps. I’ll do another when I hit those temps.
Chris, here’s my update, placed the order for the new AC. Looking forward to installing this and seeing the results.
I’m quite sure you will not be disappointed.
I just had had one installed today at the factory in Elkhart. I have a 2020 Airstream Caravel 19CB with a ducted A/C. Total install was $350. Mine was the first Airstream they have installed at the factory. As such, it was an all day affair because they had to come up with the best process to install on a ducted Airstream. I’m not knocking the install crew. They did a fantastic job and stayed late to get the job done. They put a lot of man hours in to the install but still only charged me the originally quoted $350. It is incredibly quiet compared to the Dometic it replaced. And yes, I did use the WHYNOTRV discount code at checkout.
I really appreciate that!!! I’m telling you. I love the noise level of this unit. Glad you got it done!!!
Good news on your install, my only concern is the internal drip line, did they use the factory drip line? I have been in contact with them and they said that they are working on this issue. I’m needing to replace my original AC asap. Thanks in advance.
@@Kybossls they did not use the original Airstream drain tube. They don’t currently have a solution to connect to that. The condensation just runs down the side of the camper on the road side so you won’t even notice it while you’re at a camp site.
The condensate tubes are great in theory but the real question is do you want water to just run off the roof naturally like it does with rain or have water piped through your walls where something could leak and you have ZERO idea it ever happened
Having had my condensate tubes clogged and very nearly spilling out in to the wall and ceiling, I’m definitely ok with not using them. I only noticed it when I pulled my air return screens off to clean the filters.
Great video Chris !
Thank you sir!!!
By any chance do you know what the difference is between the Gree and the Tosot? according to their website they are both made by Gree. The Tosot is $300 cheaper though and they look identical
I replied to your other comment so hopefully that answers your question
Disagree make a air conditioner for central ducted systems?
Right on premier products website they have this unit available on both a ducted or non ducted version.
I love your install, want to do something like this but I'm honestly a little overwhelmed by the amount of systems that there are. I think I'm just going to go with all Victron like you did, but I'm curious, did you have someone install it or did you have a knowledge resource that you leaned on that you could direct me to?
Hey Tommy, I have multiple install videos of this type of system. I did not do a video on this system. czcams.com/video/7SMFJiOBDBk/video.htmlsi=Kw_4iKZsDvB5me55
@@WhyNotRV Ok thank you, sorry I just found your channel because I was looking for what people had to say about the Gree AC. I’m gonna need a new AC soon too lol. Thanks, you seem to be a great source of knowledge. I’m subscribing:)
I appreciate that. It’s my primary goal to be an educational channel
What is the address for the factory in Elkhart where we can have a Gree AC nstalled in our Class B RV?
2900 CR 6 West
Elkhart, IN 46514
You need to call them ahead of time to schedule installation.

Chris, I’m on the fence with this ac versus another one. The other model looks good, but reading through the forums there’s some issues with the humidity levels. How did you manage the drain tubes? We have a 05 Airstream Classic, 28 foot, with the single non duct original one.
I ditched the drain tubes the condensation just Rona’s off the roof like every other rv. No issue. This unit is amazing and even has a “dry” function to just remove / lower humidity
Thank you for the reply, but could you use the Airstream cups to use the drain line going into the wheel well?
You could rig it up to catch the water and drain through the tubes yes
Just had one installed on my Airstream with ducted AC today. They don’t use the drain tubes. Condensate just drains down the road side.
No in-rush current test?
Hey! So I did not do any in rush current testing as of yet. There are some other videos online that share installing a soft start in these units. With my Victron multiplus II this unit starts and runs no problem off battery only all the time. People use 2k generators and run these no problems and I’ve seen it plugged into an extension cord on 110v and run just fine.
?
When in the auto cool mode, will the fan turn off and on or continuously run. I can hear the compressor cycle on and off but the fan stays on.
Do you have the fan set to swing?
I have ran it with and without swing. Does it make a difference? @WhyNotRV
I have noticed on swing the fan will just stay on and circulate and the compressor will come on and off based on temperature
@@WhyNotRV Thanks for the advice. I will try no swing again and watch it closer. Thanks for the video, the new ac really is quiet. I liked everything about our camper except the Dometic ac. It made life inside the camper miserable, now I'm totally happy with Oliver Elite ll camper.
