Rhodes Greece is one of the most popular destinations in the Greek islands. It is renowned for its rich history, beautiful landscapes, and stunning beaches.
Here I am on Tsambika Beach, nestled on the east coast of the island. This beach is located around 26 kilometres south of Rhodes Town, near the village of Archangelos.
It’s easily accessible by car or taxi, with lots of parking nearby. If you prefer public transport, there are buses that run from Rhodes Town to Archangelos, from where you can take a short taxi ride to the beach.

As you start this walk with me journey, you'll notice that Tsambika Beach is a long stretch of golden sand, with shallow, crystal-clear waters that gently lap against the shore.
This makes it an ideal spot for families with young children, as the shallow waters are perfect for safe swimming and playing. The beach is well-equipped with sunbeds and umbrellas, providing plenty of spots for sunbathing and relaxing.
One of the many charms of Tsambika Beach is its versatility. Whether you're looking to relax and soak up the sun, enjoy a swim in the calm sea, or partake in water sports, this beach has something for everyone.
The beach is generally not too windy, ensuring pleasant conditions for sunbathing and swimming. It's also a great spot for snorkelling, with the clear waters offering good visibility and a chance to see some marine life.
At around 15 minutes and 44 seconds into the video 4k, I encounter a small crab scuttling along the sand. I take a moment to follow it, giving you a close-up look at this fascinating creature. It's these little surprises that make each visit to Tsambika Beach unique and exciting.
*INTERESTING FACTS ABOUT TSAMBIKA BEACH RHODES*
1. The beach is named after the Monastery of Tsambika, which is located on a hill overlooking the beach.
2. Legend has it that the monastery's icon of the Virgin Mary has miraculous powers, particularly for couples struggling to conceive.
3. The beach stretches over 800 metres, providing plenty of space even during the peak tourist season.
4. The waters are known for being particularly clean and safe, having been awarded the Blue Flag status for their quality.
*TIPS FOR VISITING TSAMBIKA BEACH RHODES*
1. Arrive early in the morning to experience the beach at its most peaceful, just as I did in this 4k video. Okay, you don;t have to arrive at 7am though.
2. Bring your snorkelling gear to explore the underwater world just off the shore.
3. Try out some of the water sports available, such as jet skiing, paddleboarding, and windsurfing.
Throughout this beach vlog, you’ll experience the gentle sound of the waves and the breathtaking beauty of the beach. This walking tour is perfect for anyone who loves the beach and wants to experience a peaceful, early morning walk in a beautiful location.

    People take note of those videos as yesterday I came back from Athens and on Saturday I was pickpocketed on the metro going to the zoo. I had a taxi from the airport due to these warnings so the only time I used the metro was this trip and got targeted by these vermin. It was the oh no the door is jammed bs so I warned everybody as a guy was telling me to press a door button but it was why me there are 3 closer, so my brain said scam so I shouted this out and moved away from the door. There was a thud in front of me which was my wallet while 3 40 to 50 year old men got off the Metro. So I picked up my wallet thinking they took the cash out and chased them and confronted them then realised they hadn’t taken my money out but with the Metro there was no staff or police around so this is just rife.

      Nick, first of all I'm really sorry you were a victim of pickpockets in Athens. As you say, it is so rife.on.the Metro as it's so easy for them and so easy to get away with Obviously taking a taxi as you did, certainly helps. Pickpocketing in the city really does seem to be on the increase and that's one of the reasons I made the video to help people. I've pinned your comment to the top.

    Join me on a walk and talk as we descend and go into the largest live volcano in Greece on the breathtaking Greek island of Nisyros. Nestled in the heart of the Aegean Sea, I'll take you on a walking tour 4k, down and inside Stefanos Crater. *Where is Stefanos Crater* The Stefanos Crater is located on Nisyros island, part of the Dodecanese group in Greece. The best way to see this active volcano is via booking one of the many excursions to the island. *Other Videos* Beginner's Guide to Kos - bit.ly/Beginners-Guide-To-Kos Live Walk Kos Harbour - bit.ly/Kos-Live-Walk-Harbour *Excusions and Ferry Tickets* From Kos - gyg.me/GJ28q4RL From Kardamena - gyg.me/ARZTLmjr From Kardamena (transfer) - gyg.me/dafqZzYZ Nisyros Full Tour - gyg.me/MAPSwogm Hoel Pickup/Guide Tour - gyg.me/iuIHLBCd *Hotels* All on Nisyros - bit.ly/nisyros All Kos - bit.ly/3XqdSb1 Kos Town - bit.ly/Kos-Town Kardamena - bit.ly/Kos-Kardamena Kefalos - bit.ly/Kos-Kefalos Lagoudi Zea - bit.ly/Lagoudi-Zia Lambi - bit.ly/Lambi-Beach Mastichari - bit.ly/Mastichari Tigaki - bit.ly/Tigaki-District Agios Fokas - bit.ly/Agios-Fokas *Taxi* All - bit.ly/Welcome-Pickups *History of the Stefanos Crater* This island, known for its stunning natural beauty and rich geological history, is easily accessible by ferry from Kos and other nearby islands. As you approach the island, the imposing presence of the Nisyros volcano dominates the landscape, hinting at the volcanic activity that shaped this unique environment. Nisyros island is an active volcano in the Aegean Volcanic Arc, which includes other well-known active volcanoes such as Santorini and Methana. The Nisyros volcano is classified as a composite volcano or stratovolcano, characterized by a series of explosive eruptions that have built up layers of hardened lava, tephra, pumice, and volcanic ash over time. The Stefanos Crater is one of the largest and most accessible hydrothermal craters in the world. This crater was formed approximately 3,500 years ago and is a testament to the island's volcanic activity. Measuring about 300 meters in diameter and 30 meters deep, it offers a unique opportunity to walk directly on the floor of an active volcano. *Amazing Facts* Size and Dimensions: The Stefanos Crater spans a massive 300 meters across and plunges to around 30 meters. This vast, open space allows visitors to fully appreciate the scale and power of volcanic activity. The crater is relatively young, having formed around 3,500 years ago. Despite its age, it remains a vivid and dynamic part of the island's landscape. Due to the intense geothermal activity below the surface, the ground within the crater can reach temperatures of up to 100°C (212°F). Numerous fumeroles, or steam vents, are scattered throughout the crater that release hot gases from the Earth's interior. These fumaroles are a clear sign of the live volcano beneath your feet.

    I went to Athens in early April 2024 and bought tickets in advance from the official Acropolis web site. At 8:00 am there was no waiting to get in, but long lines to purchase tickets. Large tour groups began to appear on the Acropolis around 9:30 am. So do go early. I had a combination ticket for the Ancient Agora and several other sites, but we did not book an entry time( did not see this as an option). There was no problem getting into these sites ( again there were lines to purchase tickets).

      Great advice there. It's exactly what I said in the video. It's definitely worth booking in advance for the Acropolis. As for the others, like you said the queues are nowhere near as bad. Hence there's no option to book a time.

    What I do myself is keep everything valuable, like money, cellphone, credit card, passport, driver's license etc, only and exclusively in the two front pockets of my trousers, or the inner pocket of my jacket, if it's wintertime. Never put money and valuables in back pockets, handbags, or backpacks. Your idea to wear the backpack on the front is great, but I would still keep money, cellphone, credit card, and identification in my trousers or in my jacket. Other things like chargers, sunglasses, cameras could be kept in a backpack, because they are valuable, but losing them wouldn't destroy your vacation. And even them not in the front pocket of the backpack, but inside.

      Thank you so much for the brilliant advice. It certainly shows that one solution doesn't necessarily fit everyone. I did think about expanding the video to cover a lot more, but it would have ended up at least three times as long and still not cover everything. The main thing I wanted to get across is for everyone to know about pickpockets in Athens, which then gives them opportunities to hopefully do something about it. I really appreciate your points, and thanks again for your detailed advice and suggestions. 👍😀

    The Metropolitan Cathedral is a really nice, well constructed/well decorated church. However, since this essentially is the seat of Orthodox Christianity in Greece, it should be a much bigger, grander cathedral in my opinion, given that other Orthodox churches like Russia, Serbia etc., have much larger cathedrals serving as their main church. The Romanian Orthodox church for example is currently building something that resembles the Vatican.

    • @GoExploreGreece
      @GoExploreGreece Před 2 měsíci

      Thank you for your insightful comment. The Metropolitan Cathedral of Athens is indeed a beautiful and historic church, known for its architectural elegance and intricate decorations. While it may not be as large as some of the grand cathedrals in other Orthodox countries, it holds significant cultural and historical value for Greece. However, I do see your point that because it's considered the seat of Orthodox Christianity in Greece, it should be a much bigger, grander cathedral. I'm not entirely sure why it's not larger. Maybe it was because of the limited land it was going to be built upon, or maybe there were time limits to construct, or perhaps the people at that time didn't see a larger one as a necessary requirement. But, I still love to seek solace inside from the hustle and bustle of Athens. Ian

    • @bozeeke
      @bozeeke Před 2 měsíci

      @@GoExploreGreece I think the reason they never built a grand cathedral to answer your question, is because the underlying sentiment for a couple hundred years among us as Greek people was that one day we'd return to Constantinople (many refuse to still use the name Istanbul) and reclaim Hagia Sophia. But in light of that being a virtual impossibility due to modern geo-politics and in light of other Orthodox countries building massive cathedrals, I think building something large and grand is a possibility the Greek Orthodox church should consider.

    • @GoExploreGreece
      @GoExploreGreece Před 2 měsíci

      That's extremely interesting what you say. Perhaps one day the people of Greece will, as it's certainly an opportunity to consider. You've definitely provided me with a few things to think about.

    Wow it’s outstanding views. I have a question about flying drone on Zakynthos. Do you have to report every flight and can you 5:18 higher than 50meters without any problems? I read rules on HCAA but want to know how it’s looks like in practice. Thank you.

    • @GoExploreGreece
      @GoExploreGreece Před 2 měsíci

      Great question. The simple answer is: The basic drone laws for flying state that a maximum flight altitude of 120 metres, always flying within visual line of sight and keeping the drone away from no-fly zones and anyone not involved in the flying of the drone. You don't have to report every flight, but just use common sense, and DO NOT fly anywhere near and/or over military, utilities etc. A little more info: For most drones, you need the EU Drone Licence. This consists of the Basic Certificate (A1-A3) and the Supplementary Certificate (A2). - Mandatory for drones from 250 grams - The drone may fly a maximum height of 120 metres - The drone must be flown within direct sight of the pilots - You must register yourself as a drone pilot - You have to attach an operator number to your drone Hope this helps. • @GoExploreGreece
      @GoExploreGreece Před 2 měsíci

      The full walk would take 15-20 minutes at a gentle pace. However, there is a concrete structure near the top end blocking the way. The sea is not too deep at this point so you could easily pass by walking in the water. Or you could walk up through the village and rejoin the other side which will add another 10-15 minutes. In 2022 there was a wooden platform which allowed you to pass above the water line but it wasn't there last year (2023). Hope this helps.

    Hello, does the vanilla ticket also include the 15 minutes early to 15 minutes later than the time slot chosen or is that just for the combo ticket? Do you need to reserve times for the other attractions in the combo ticket or just show up? Cheers

    • @GoExploreGreece
      @GoExploreGreece Před 3 měsíci

      Those are good questions, and the answer is yes, there is indeed a single "vanilla" ticket which allows you to select the time of entry and permits you to enter up to 15 minutes before and 15 minutes after your time slot. It's one that I use when I only have a day or so in Athens, and it's right here: bit.ly/3U3xoa2 As for your question regarding reserving times for other attractions, there isn't an option as they get nowhere near as busy or as quickly as the Acropolis. However, that's not the case for the Acropolis Museum, which is essentially the second most popular after the Acropolis. Plans are being considered to book a time slot, but it's not likely to happen this year. But, from experience, I would still recommend you get a ticket in advance, including various skip-the-line. These are at bit.ly/49QP4vE Hope this helps Ian

    For the first time, there's now limits on the number of people who can visit the Acropolis of Athens every day and every hour. I'll explain why, and how you can get around these limits of 20,000 for the day, 3,000 for the first hour, and then 2000 every hour until closing. Whilst 20,000 per day or 2,000 an hour may sound like a lot, the number of people seeing the Acropolis daily has significantly increased over the last five years. 2022 saw 3 million hit for the very first time. And last year, there was a 70% increase from 2021. *ALL Tickets for the Acropolis* All Tickets - bit.ly/4azYmgt *Combination Tickets* Acropolis & Archaeological Sites: Combo - bit.ly/3xvdNYL The Athens Pass - bit.ly/3vKz5RT Acropolis and Acropolis Museum - bit.ly/3VYh8tC *Guided Tours* Acropolis Entry and 90 min Guided Tour - bit.ly/3xFkFTH 2 Hour Guided Tour - bit.ly/4aWRfOW Early Morning Entry & 90 min Guided Tour - bit.ly/443HLPG Acropolis & Acropolis Museum: 4 Hour Guided Tour - bit.ly/3TZxS18 *Single Tickets* Acropolis Skip-The-Line - bit.ly/3U3xoa2
