Anchor lining made from a perfectly bent tree
zhlédnutí 24KPřed rokem
When harvesting wood for a different project, boat builder Kasper came across an unusual tree with the perfect shape for the anchor lining on S/J Mathilde. To get both linings out of the piece, it was sawn diagonally. We got good use for our pitsaw platform - Mads and Jens got to try their hand at sawing the old way.

You all did an excellent job
Very cool and relaxing to watch 👏👏👏. Well done to the young men. Now for your next challenge, make one using the tools the original boat builders used
That's a real art! Glad to see it's not lost.
Brilliant!!!
It's amazing to see young people build big ships if you also consider the ship builders are the highest level of carpenters. because nothing is straight and many parts are round as well. I also believe carpenters are using the most dangerous tools from all trades so it is very impressive.
Hosing oneself down with compressed air is very dangerous for health. Compressed air can penetrate the skin.
Very nice to see dedicated young men at work on an old loosing trade....keep it in honour guys...respect❤
And being a millwright for the past 25 plus years i though i have skills...
Beautiful.... Great job!!!!!!
What a beautiful work of art.

Que trabalho magnífico, lindo eu adoro ❤
Parabéns, perfeito!
Wonderfull
Why is there not more diversity in shipbuilding?..
amazing rope.
How did they ever do that without power tools?
They cursed the wood into place
Same thoughts: How did they do it
Que hermosura!!!!
Just beautiful
A fairing batten works better if you drill nail holes in it instead of nailing on both sides.
Thanks for showing us your work and not spending time telling us what you're about to do!
Bloody marvelous anything good pass it on something that doesn’t happen so much in this day and age
I can see 100s of years of development in these oars. Functionally and aesthetically wonderful.
A marine diesel on an 1888 boat? Noooooooo !!!!!!! Was it originally just sail? Probably too small for coal boiler.
Norskificeret dansk lyder ret sjovt. Tak for videoen! :)
Ihr seid unglaublich
This is an amazing place run by kind and friendly skilled people Go if u can.

👍👍👍💪
English subtitles??!!! How nice! I’ve watched almost all of the videos and they are all so impressive. If I had my life to live over I’d love to do this work.
Here in the Pacific Northwest there are still many young people involved in wooden boat building or reconstruction. And of course same is true for the east coast. Great to see that young people are interested to work with their hands and learn a trade. Bravo!!!
