Is p0rn cinema?
Are adult movies cinema?
There are various examples of films that are made for adults blurring the lines of narrative films.
Paul Thomas Anderson's Boogie Nights perfectly shows you how the industry works - but can the industry be taken seriously.
Especially, as celebs like Kim Kardashian, Paris Hilton and others hijacking the industry for personal gain.

    You have to see Twister, its the most amazing film. A tremendous ensemble: Helen Hunt, Bill Paxton, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Alan Ruck, and many more, all amazing performances, great script, great direction, great photography, great visual effects that can still hold, great pacing. It's an improbable masterwork of entertainment but it's a masterwork.

Sounds like... every commercial on television, doesn't it? You know, when I see those two twins on that Doublemint commercial? I'm not thinking of gum. I am thinking of chewing, so maybe that's the connection they're trying to make." Bill Hicks

    As demonstrated by Louis B. Mayer during the spectacular long take in Mank (2020): Movies have to make you FEEL in here (points to the head), here (pounds the chest), and here (grabs the crotch). So, yes, porn is cinema. Now, give all the Jack Horners of the world their Oscars! 😆

    Whilst it wasn't perfect, there were so many scenes that not only made me feel uncomfortable and think about the world we're living in but everything from the cinematography to the soundtrack was all very we'll done....Not to metion it was a film that had some quotable lines which is something you don't get very often at least in my opinion

    • @MarcusFlemmings
      @MarcusFlemmings Před 3 dny

      Why hello there sir! Indie movies are a little more tricky - as studios have hijacked indie movies. SO its hard to tell which is an indie and which isn't - but the industry itself (real indies) are growing. Problem is over saturation - because anyone can make an indie movie now :)

    • @davidkhan1626
      @davidkhan1626 Před 3 dny

      @@MarcusFlemmings For sure over saturation is a problem with all media in general! Music, video games and film! Definitely the technology has levelled the playing field in video quality and with AI growing in popularity there no limits to someones ability make a good looking piece of work, but I don’t think the actual craft is there anymore.

  • @Menti83
    @Menti83 Před 3 dny

    I had the same thoughts, the movie was solid, but the mediocre and overused CGI is not good for the imersion, in Fury Road they only used CGI where it was absolutely necessary i guess, lets ignore some cheesy 3d effects here and there haha - In Furiosa they used it for EVERYTHING, just simple scenes like characters leaving on a bike / vehicle (always looked fake as f***) aerial shots from a crowd of vehicles that drive along where you could tell every single vehicles is CGI, a lot of scenes just looked fake in general, you could tell the lighting was off and it was filmed in a studio / greenscreen instead of the real world, i guess the usual cinematographer who worked for/with George Miller was not onboard this time - And you could tell, Fury Road was grittier, just looked so much better overall.

    • @MarcusFlemmings
      @MarcusFlemmings Před 2 dny

    100% agree with you, this is exactly what I thought once I finished watching it. Thrilling film, shallow moral. There also wasn't really anything unique about this being set in the US. They could have had the exact same premise but in another country and still call it 'Civil War' aside from tweaking a few lines to fit said country.

    • @MarcusFlemmings
      @MarcusFlemmings Před 2 dny

      Love your second point! Agreed - could have been set anywhere!

  • @blurgle9185
    @blurgle9185 Před 3 dny

    I know. I think it's a goddamned masterpiece. The way they shot the movie was so beautiful and evocative (sorry for pretentious word use), and the story... I love it. There were times I felt scenes were so unrealistic, especially at the end, but that was the initial blow... then you digest it, and the movie brilliant paces itself so that you get that time to process, and it just fits perfectly. I've never liked anything Kirsten Dunst ever has done (except Interview with the vampire) but her face, those eyes, her person fitted this role so well. She is *incredible.* But every actor were brilliant. Not one second went by where I wasn't competely transfixed with the movie. Garland and his team outdid themselves with this one. On your comment about the message... I think, as I believe I've stated before, you are putting on your critical glasses as a critic and sort of miss the point (excuse dumb phrasing). The message about the horrors of war is enough here. What makes this movie brilliant is that the violence is horrifying. That is the message and it is a message that requires great writing and great film-making to achieve and I think Garland and his team does this uniquely well. They also show people die in such ways we can really feel empathy for them - they're just not dying in the background. Instead we see in slow motion a guy trapped behind a pillar, scared for his life, trying to get to safety. There's a guy who takes pot shots from a tower, we don't even really know if he's on team A or B, or any of them. And the scene with Plemons... yeah, we know that guy exists and is just hoping for the culture war to escalate to that level. What he shows us an America that we actually recognize and he juxtaposes it masterly with war in a way no other film has achieved in my opinion. We can also recognize the damage of sensationalist journalism and war, how it desensitizes them, but also us. The young journalist who snaps that last picture encapsules that human behaviour hauntingly well. When the battles are over and the dust settles, what remains is regret and sorrow for the inhumanity we committed and experienced. The message needs repeating. Garland gets the message across. *Yup, that'll do.*

      @MarcusFlemmings Před 2 dny
