    I've got one problem though. When I set the trigger All Pages in the dynamic swap method, the tag triggers without even clicking the phone number. Wouldn't it be counted as a false conversion?

    • @rooted-digital
      @rooted-digital Před 2 dny

      Good clarifying question. With the dynamic swap method, the tag actually will never trigger on clicking the phone number link. It only triggers when the tracking number (that has been dynamically inserted on the page) is dialed. If you want to track the actual clicks on the phone number link you need to use the second method that is explained in this video. That starts around the 10:40 mark or so. Let me know if that clears things up at all.

    Hi man - great video. Quick question. My website already has a gtag connected to the site, and it is sending data from the site to my GA4 account. Do I still need to connect the gtag to a GTM account? A bit scared to remove the GTAG from my site in case it messes with the GA4 data!

    • @rooted-digital
      @rooted-digital Před 2 dny

      Hi there, Jack. Great question. If you already have GA4 installed on your site via gtag you do not need to connect it to a GTM container as this video shows. You already have GA4 installed! 2 related notes: 1. If you create a custom event for your GA4 property in GTM (say like this internal link click tracking custom event: czcams.com/video/TbbzLpftlkg/video.html), you'll just manually enter your GA4 measurement ID when you create the GA4 event tag in GTM. 2. If you ever did want to use GTM to install GA4 on your site through the Google tag (like in this video), you'd want to remove the gtag from your site so you don't have it installed twice. Although as I've already said, you don't need to do this since you're already sending data to your site. Hope that helps clarify. Good luck and Godspeed to you!

      I'm sorry to hear that. When you say it's "not working" do you mean you can't see the necessary dimensions when you go to create your report in GA4? If so, you could try building the report in Explorations (the "Explore" function in GA4) instead. on 3:32, it says "Use the Google tag and Google Analytics: GA4 event tag together to enable measurement for Google Analytics 4. " You only used Google tag. Can you please explain why?

    • @rooted-digital
      @rooted-digital Před 5 dny

      Good question. I think it's confusing how that is worded. In order to set up the basic GA4 tracking, all you need to do is use the Google tag as shown in this video. If you also want to track custom actions like button clicks or internal link clicks or other custom tracking, you can create a "custom event" using the GA4 event tag. So I assume that what's that language means. Basically, the GA4 event tag helps you go further with your tracking capabilities but it's not essential. Here are a couple resources if you want to see examples of using the GA4 event tag: custom internal link tracking: czcams.com/video/TbbzLpftlkg/video.html use CSS selectors to track link clicks in main navigation: czcams.com/video/l4pQmJAIPYY/video.html track email link clicks: czcams.com/video/XIif73lkVKg/video.html Good luck and best wishes!

      Hi there. It's tough to say without getting in your account and diagnosing things. But I'd double check to make sure you've published your GTM container after you created the custom event. I tried to use this method for a website that has default category selection on homepage which doesn’t go to another page but changes the data whenever a category is clicked. It’s working fine but sometimes the click text says undefined in variables and at times the click element doesn’t show anything and click text shows up. I’m a beginner so I don’t know actually what’s happening. Please advise, Zack

    • @rooted-digital
      @rooted-digital Před 5 dny

      Hi there! I must say that I don't know quite what's happening here either. I would say that CSS Selectors can sometimes be sensitive and don't always work as it seems like they "should" (or at least as I want them to). So in this case, it's possible that the way the site was coded / built means that you won't consistently get the data you want. All I can say is that this is one of the reasons that testing in GTM preview and debug mode is so important...and also sometimes so frustrating. I hope this ends up working out for you but it's possible that you might need to save this approach for a different site in the future for best results.

    What if your using a subdomain for example: on leadpages, then how can you verify that? Is it absolutely necessary to verify your domain if your going to use google tag manager track fb pixel? - which is now datasets isn't it? Cause i was able to create a dataset easily without verification

    • @rooted-digital

      You're right that datasets is now the Facebook Pixel. This video might have even more context (czcams.com/video/n1BSaUG3jtU/video.html), if you're curious. If you're able to create a dataset without bothering with verification, then that's great news. I learned something new today. :) Thanks for watching and best wishes.

      If your country isn’t supported for the dynamic swap method, I’d personally opt for the second approach that tracks link clicks on the phone number link. That method starts about halfway through this video.

    • @rooted-digital
      @rooted-digital Před 17 dny

      The best way to find out would be to open preview and debug mode in GTM and see what happens when you apply those location filters. My sense is that this particular event would not capture those filters being applied. But there should be another way to get that information if you can find the right interaction to track and record. Good luck!

    How would you create an event tracking a specific incoming link? Like tracking how many people arrive at the site from a specific link in the description of a youtube video.

    • @rooted-digital
      @rooted-digital Před 17 dny

      For that, you’d actually use a traffic report to see the source of your visit from your CZcams video. You can add things like “UTM parameters” for cases like the one you’re describing to see all the traffic source details in GA4. There are two videos on UTM parameters on this channel that I’d recommend you consider. Best of luck and Godspeed! 🙏✌️

    • @rooted-digital
      @rooted-digital Před 17 dny

      Hmmm….it’s possible that your site actually is getting a lot of clicks on the phone link click from desktop. This would be rare but is possible. The tag 🏷️ is collecting click activity on both desktop and mobile. You could look at the event in GA4 and look at a device type breakdown to confirm. That would at least let you know more info. Good luck and Godspeed! ✌️😎

    Thanks for the video! There is one thing I don't understand and that is when you go to check Tag Assistant to see the status of the permissions, in the first column "On-Page Default", it appears empty for you, while I also get "granted/denied" statuses. • @rooted-digital
      @rooted-digital Před měsícem

      Hello there! If you’re most interested in seeing opened emails, that’s not something that GA4 can help you with. You can see open rates and click rates in your email service provider like Mailchimp or Mailerlite. You CAN use GA4 to track the performance of emails on your website (aka, what people do after they open and click your email). For that, you’ll need to use “UTM parameters”. Here’s an article on that if you’re interested: www.rootandbranchgroup.com/utm-parameters-google-analytics/ In terms of not seeing the life cycle reports, you may need to edit the reports that are available in your reporting library. Happy to help with more if I can. Good luck! ✌️
