    Hey Man, I really appreciate this content 🙏🏾🙌 Actually can I follow the same steps to add google analytics 4 to my printify pop up store?

    • @rooted-digital
      @rooted-digital  Před 7 měsíci

      Thanks for the kind words. I appreciate you taking the time. Regarding Printify, I can say two things:
      1.) If you already have Google Tag Manager installed on your store, then YES, the process shown in this video will work. Once Tag Manager is installed successfully, the process for installing GA4 is the same for any type of web site / online store (since the work is done in Tag Manager)
      2.) If you don't have Tag Manager installed on your store and don't know how to do that, it looks like there's another way to add GA4 to Printify. Here's the support article I found in case you don't have it: help.printify.com/hc/en-us/articles/14813624741393-How-can-I-set-up-marketing-tools-for-my-Pop-Up-Store

    Hi man - great video. Quick question. My website already has a gtag connected to the site, and it is sending data from the site to my GA4 account. Do I still need to connect the gtag to a GTM account? A bit scared to remove the GTAG from my site in case it messes with the GA4 data!

    • @rooted-digital
      @rooted-digital  Před 2 měsíci

      Hi there, Jack. Great question.
      If you already have GA4 installed on your site via gtag you do not need to connect it to a GTM container as this video shows. You already have GA4 installed!
      2 related notes:
      1. If you create a custom event for your GA4 property in GTM (say like this internal link click tracking custom event: czcams.com/video/TbbzLpftlkg/video.html), you'll just manually enter your GA4 measurement ID when you create the GA4 event tag in GTM.
      2. If you ever did want to use GTM to install GA4 on your site through the Google tag (like in this video), you'd want to remove the gtag from your site so you don't have it installed twice. Although as I've already said, you don't need to do this since you're already sending data to your site.
      Hope that helps clarify. Good luck and Godspeed to you!

  • @MeerNahro-ss8nw

    Just for me to understand better, the Google Tag Manager is connected to the website via its own container code then you connect Google Analytics with the Google Tag Manager using the property's measurement ID? Thank you in advance!

    • @rooted-digital
      @rooted-digital  Před 10 měsíci

      Yes, you've got it. The connection between Tag Manager and Google Analytics was very confusing to me as well.
      And it makes it more confusing because Tag Manager can perform multiple functions for Google Analytics properties:
      1.) setting up the GA4 measurement ID / Google tag
      2.) creating "custom events" to send additional data into the GA4 property
      If you've got 12 minutes to spare, this Tag Manager beginner's guide might be worth checking out: czcams.com/video/pMdjLBisDHI/video.html

    Do we not need to add any changes in code? like adding the measurement id in your website pages?

    • @rooted-digital
      @rooted-digital  Před 7 měsíci

      When you install the Google tag as outlined in this video, you are - in fact - adding the GA4 measurement ID to your website pages.
      This used to be called the "GA4 Configuration tag" in Google Tag Manager. It got a new name and some new functionality last fall and is now called the Google tag. Same idea though.

    on 3:32, it says "Use the Google tag and Google Analytics: GA4 event tag together to enable measurement for Google Analytics 4. " You only used Google tag. Can you please explain why?

    • @rooted-digital
      @rooted-digital  Před 3 měsíci +1

      Good question. I think it's confusing how that is worded. In order to set up the basic GA4 tracking, all you need to do is use the Google tag as shown in this video.
      If you also want to track custom actions like button clicks or internal link clicks or other custom tracking, you can create a "custom event" using the GA4 event tag. So I assume that what's that language means. Basically, the GA4 event tag helps you go further with your tracking capabilities but it's not essential.
      Here are a couple resources if you want to see examples of using the GA4 event tag:
      custom internal link tracking: czcams.com/video/TbbzLpftlkg/video.html
      use CSS selectors to track link clicks in main navigation: czcams.com/video/l4pQmJAIPYY/video.html
      track email link clicks: czcams.com/video/XIif73lkVKg/video.html
      Good luck and best wishes!

    I'm getting started with GTM and GA4 and I'm still confused. At 3:22 I can see that you can choose "google tag" from the list but also you can see the same "google tag" option when you click on Google Analytics, Are these "google tag" tag types the same? so you can choose anyone you like?

    • @rooted-digital
      @rooted-digital  Před 3 měsíci

      Yes, these are the same. You can just get to the same place (the Google tag) through two different routes. Google does confusing things like that sometimes. ;)
      Good question!

    Hello, I have now added analytics to my WordPress site using the site kit. Now I want to connect to analytics by connecting to the tag manager, but how can I do this without deleting my data? Analytics data is important. Also, on my other site, tag Manager codes were added to the theme. If I need to update the theme, the codes will be deleted. Will my analytics data be lost? What if I add the codes again after updating the theme?

    • @rooted-digital
      @rooted-digital  Před měsícem

      You should only have GA4 installed on your site in one way. If you install GA4 both through site kit and through Tag Manager, you will have installed GA4 twice.
      You can keep the same GA4 property (Measurement ID) but change the installation method. In other words, if you delete the GA4 installation method from one place and then install it in another place, you will still have all your analytics data. You'll only "lose" the period of minutes it takes from removing the code in one place and installing it through another method.
      The same thing goes if you're changing how you're installing the GTM container tags on your site. If the code is temporarily deleted the data won't be lost (as long as you install it again).

    What should I add in the Website GTM tag or GA tag and then which ID to put there?

    • @rooted-digital
      @rooted-digital  Před 27 dny

      1 question and 1 partial answer:
      Question: what type of website are you using?
      Partial answer: If you want to be able to use Google Tag Manager, you should install Google Tag Manager. If you don't care about Google Tag Manager - and only want to use Google Analytics - you wouldn't need to install it (GTM). This video is specifically for people who are already running GTM and want to use it to install Google Analytics.

  • @Adin4Christ
    @Adin4Christ Před 4 měsíci +1

    Does this mean we dont need to install GA4 script to our site anymore?

    • @rooted-digital
      @rooted-digital  Před 4 měsíci

      You can install the GA4 script on your site multiple ways. One way is to use Google Tag Manager (GTM) and push the GA4 tag to your site via GTM. That's what this video shows.
      Another way is to hardcode the GA4 script in the backend of your website. In that case, you wouldn't use GTM at all. If this is what you have done in the past, it will still work and you don't need to do what is shown in this video.
      However, my personal preference is to use GTM because it opens up some other options for GA4. Like creating some cool custom events like:
      button click tracking (czcams.com/video/JOFtjLpwBLE/video.html)
      internal link click tracking (czcams.com/video/TbbzLpftlkg/video.html)
      And related. Hope that clears things up. Best wishes!

    I followed your instruction but my web stream in GA4 shows this alert: Data collection isn't active for your website. If you installed tags more than 48 hours ago, make sure they are set up correctly.

    • @rooted-digital
      @rooted-digital  Před 5 měsíci

      Hello there. Two thoughts / questions:
      1. You might want to double check to make sure you published your container in Google Tag Manager. From personal experience I know how easy it is to do everything but then not actually hit submit and publish the container in GTM.
      2. If you've done that, I'd give it a little time. As Google's message implies, it can take up to 48 hours for data to start showing up (although it's typically faster than that).
      Best wishes.

      @rooted-digital  Před 4 měsíci

      You don't *need* to do this step, but it will make things easier in the future if you create more tags (so you don't always need to check back to GA4 to see what your measurement ID is).
