The early Jr.s had the bridge set at an angle , I thought the Mojo Ax bridge was for those models .When did Gibson set the bridge " square " with the strings ?

What happened? Where is the rest of the build. I was getting a lot out of it.
I own several guitars, and I must say, this video is among the best I've ever seen. My Ibanez guitar constantly went out of tune within 10 seconds of stretching and tuning it, and this had been happening forever. Every time I came up with a great riff, trying to replicate it was a struggle because the guitar would be out of tune. It was incredibly discouraging, especially since it's my favorite guitar, but dealing with the tuning was a real hassle. I turned to CZcams and stumbled upon your video. I followed the procedure you recommended, unsure of what the final result would be. Miraculously, it worked! I've been playing it for days now, and the tuning is perfect. Thank you so, so much for your help. Please keep these videos coming!
EXTREMELY HELPFUL! You are a great teacher.
Skyscraper Guitars ROCK!!!❤❤❤
Hi Skyscraper guitars, are the new side benders made of 3/4 plywood?
We are using 3/4" Armourite for the base and the forms. This is an MDF that has a water resistant resin and is MUCH tougher than standard MDF.
Thank you for your reply.
Just started watching this vid - man, this is how you do it. Lay out all the tools, give a brief explain of them. As a former mechanic, I appreciate this greatly. Looking forward to the rest of it, and I will buy your tool for sure (pretty small - wish it came in a case or bag or something). Also subbed up.
one of the best floyd restring tutorial
👊👊👊
AFTER YOU TAK OUT THE BLOCK YOU NEED TO GO BACK A TINY BIT OTHER WISE REINTONATE ALSO INTONATING WITH OLD STRINGS ON THEN PUTTING NEW ON AFTERWARDS IS ALSO DEFEATING THE PURPOSE ID NEVER HAVER YOU DO AN INTONATION ON MINE EVER
Hey Richard, nobody cares plus you're a nobody. 🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡
IF YOU STRETCH STRINGS PROPERLY THE GUITAR WILL STAY IN TUNE FOR A LONG TIME IVE HAD GUITARS STAY TUNED FOR YEARS BECAUSE I STRETCH THEM CORRECTLY
Looks like a well thought out product. I'm cutting my teeth on ukuleles to learn the craft and will eventually graduate to larger instruments, at least that's the plan. Any chance you'll offer a smaller version for us ukulele and small bodied guitar builders at some point? I know you are busy with this product currently, I'm just curious if there might be some consideration for the smaller body instruments in the future?
how to fix detune?
Man I love how you selected the sharpie like that haha. What is the liquid you are putting on the board and wiping off after hammering in frets? I know it is cleaning up the glue, but what is it? Cool video!
Yessssssss!!!
Did you ever create videos the logical next steps in this build? I love your videos and would like to see your methodology for the completion of the project. Also, just to let you know, I just found your youtube channel and as a result, your website. I'm excited about the rental program for the side bender!!!!
Mike - The guitar is in the same state it was in at the end of this video. Shortly after I shot this I had to shift my focus to product development... I'm almost out of the weeds and I've been a few sets of sides with our new bender. I will pick this one back up along with a couple others shortly. I'll actually have some video of our new side bender in action shortly... As for the rental program... I'm waiting on one supplier to deliver, then we'll be ready to go. I'm hoping that happens in the next 2-3 weeks!
Own this guitar. I hate this floating bridge. When I change strings the bridge tail rises too high. Can't afford a set-up every time I change strings so I blocked the floating bridge with 9 quarters. Also changed out the tuners for locking. Too bad I can't use the trem but someone needs to make a functional trem that doesn't force you to spend all your practice time adjusting the damn thing instead of playing and getting better. Which is the whole point of playing this plank, ffs!
Thanks for the video. I also put a couple of wraps on PRS locking tuners.
Cool beans 👍👍
Very cool to see it fully assembled and on the market!
Thanks Brian! I'm incredibly proud of the improvements we were able to incorporate.
GP that’s cool! Congratulations on getting this done!
Thanks Matt. This was an incredible journey in assembly design and manufacturing. It's been a ton of fun to bring it to life.
Very nice! Glad someone is picking up the torch after LMI stopped operating. One thing, especially since you are still in the developmental phase, you may want to put locating pins in both your acrylic template and your side forms so that you can use those locating pins to center your front and back to the sides of the guitar. It's not a new idea and I believe Chris at Driftwood guitar does this and it seems like it would be very helpful.
Yes. My personal forms have pins in them (due to Chris' suggestion. I will ad them to our templates and outside molds. Thank you for reminding me of that detail! Sometimes I get a bit too focused on the thing and forget about the user in the process.
Nice Shirt!!!
Yessir!!!! I love it!
So glad to see your business thriving! Congrats! I love your rental idea!
Thanks Marsh!
Wow! Excellent updates and well thought out.
Thank you.
thank you for this info brother! very good to know and appreciated! I deal with LMI quite a lot!
Thanks brother Randy. Please give Q-Ball a scratch on the belly for me!!!
thats great news. gladd you are tryong to fill in part of the gap left by LMI. curious as to why they woul not sell the designs, since they woul not be selling anymore. maybe it was for something future, but you tried.
I know they sold some of their stuff to Stew Mac... not sure what that was... I also know they just really wanted to retire without too much headache.
You are a first rate guy Greg. I appreciate how you tried to work with LMI on buying rights to their product. But it worked out great for those in the market with all the improvements that went into these designs. Great products! Best of luck with the roll Greg!
Thanks Dane!
So where did you get that set up? I’m definitely interested
I have been working on the design and improvements over the last two years since I made this video... We are going to release the first retail units this weekend. If you hop on our home page, I have an email list and the folks will have the first crack at them. skyscraperguitars.com
20:14 rubbing compoound, thats the stuff
Love your design. I've been using one I made from the old LMII plans with 200 watt bulbs. I'm in the process of upgrading. But having a problem finding a heating blanket without a controller. Wondering where you got yours? Again, great design!
We are releasing a side bender next week. I'll have heating blankets and all the other fixins for sale individually as well.
Is there a set depth for claw screws ? For instance I want to tune to C standard...how would I know if screws are too loose or too tight?
There is no set measurement. As long as you have tension on your springs, you should be good. In some cases you'll tighten the screws and still won't have spring tension. In that case you either need to angle your springs, you need to add another spring or you need to go from standard tension to heavy duty tension.
Releif is just under a third of a mm...you were right with the 12 thousands,, of an inch....every one sets string height & pickup height different as you say...me 3mm both ends of pickups at the 12th fret depressed..i'm old school, not a happy slapper, i play down the low end, 'the money notes' beneath the 7th fret...sometimes up to the 9th....i like to play bass
How thick are your bandsaw cuts for top and bottom weeks sides?
What neck deflection is considered optimal? 0.09-0.12?
What a cumbersome way to laminate.
What if the block doesn’t drop? I’ve screwed the claw in as far as it will go.
If the block is still held in firmly, then you need more spring tension. You can add another spring, you can replace your standard tension springs with heavy duty springs or you can angle the springs you have to give them a little more tension.
@@SkyscraperGuitars thanks so much. I got some new springs, changed to lighter gauge strings and everything works great. Got it set up and a proper float in no time with the trem wedge. I’d been fighting this bridge for a while and never thought about different springs. It’s an Ibanez edge zero II.
An absolutely beautiful guitar combined with a masterclass in fret leveling. Thank you for this video.
This is a great video, can’t wait to try it on a couple new guitars I just bought.
Finally, someone who does their string with the balls at the headstock like I do.
That technique will eventually put burrs in your string posts.
This video actually just changed everything for me thank you so much
👊👊👊
I'm a Floyd Rose newbie so this vid is a must see for me. Thanks SG you rock!
I just ordered the intonation tool.
Have you built a block to fit a Floyd 1500 series?
Assalamualaikum. I've watched videos of various workshops several times. Same. Maybe it's my disorder. From 1985 until now he has done that. And the result is a defect. Finally I looked for solutions to various physical problems with electric guitars. Especially guitar necks. Unfortunately I can't share my knowledge yet. This can immerse my career in the world of guitar. Hope the channel is successful and considers this.
Best video on CZcams I've seen yet.
👊🧡👊
Great job - love the geometry.
I think if you have a minor raise or dive into the guitar at the tuning you are going for, you can do sort of repurpose the compensated tuning method that Doug Marks suggests. Basically, he suggests tuning 3, 4, 2, 5, 1, 6. 1 is high E, 6 is low E. I. Addition, if your string is 5 cents sharp, tune it 5 cents flat. Once it is all tuned, it should be nearly there. For setting the float, we can use the same sort of method. If you have the fine tuner side dipping slightly from the guitar, release the tension from the spring claw screws to about the equal amount. Then, use the compensated tuning method Doug suggests. Check the float of the bridge to make sure it is even. The one thing to be careful of is if the bridge is dipping or raising a lot from the guitar. This is mainly to deal with it slightly off.
