Literally had to turn off this podcast after her comment about Trinity, who has been the most consistent in the attack and kind of playing out her mind. If you go watch Sam Mewis’s video from today, Kristie was singing praise for Trinity, which is what I have been seeing from these games. And then praised Horan who probably has played the least consistent this tournament, with the amount of turnovers she had, and dangerous ones at that. Wow.

Horan had an off day. She is a terrific player! GO USWNT!

All you Horan doubters are tripping! She’s a world class player and the rock of our midfield. This was friggin’ Germany, people! They live and die in the midfield, their best player is a midfielder, that’s where they dominate you. Lindsey played solid, plus we were in a 4-4-2 for long stretches, which got us compact in defense and let us win back the ball and dominate possession for big chunks of the match. There were long minutes where our midfield toyed with Germany stretching and compressing them like an accordion which let our forwards shine on speed. Horan is the key to all of this!!!

Can we all just agree that we dominated Germany?!! This isn’t a Concacaf patsy, it’s friggin’ Germany and almost every part of our game is gelling. This Emma reboot is rockin’! Even without Sophia’s fluke goal, we were threatening at all times, and could’ve scored 2 more on crosses. Fox and Girma handled all comers, and the front line is playing straight up fury-mode. On the lineup side, keep Naeher, Girma, Coffey, and Sonnet as starters and play all the subs and rest everyone else against Australia. Who cares about 1st or 2nd, this tournament starts in the knockouts. LFG!!! 🇺🇸⚽️🇺🇸

No need for Alex Morgan. It has to be said. This young front three, especially Smith have benefited from her absence. They are no longer in her shadow and Smith doesn’t have to feel like with one mistake she might be pulled for the veteran. Emma has put her trust in them, and they are showing their appreciation. It feels like a team and no longer the Morgan/Rapinoe show.

Horan had a very poor game. Her and Naeher were the reason that goal occurred. Around the 4 min mark she was so lackadaisical on the ball backwards that it was intercepted. This is the Olympics. Your the captain and veteran. Once we can move on from her we’ll be cooking. For now, we need her.

Horan had a couple bad passes, but she played a solid game. There’s a reason she is the captain, not everything is on the scoresheet or on the ball. US team has a swagger now and team chemistry they haven’t had in a while. Germany also made a huge tactical mistake in how they decided to play the US. Emma Hayes has turned everything around.

Third game will see lots of reserves getting a chance and the starting XI getting some rest, so I don't think there will be a good result v Australia, I expect a draw for USWNT at best.

Horan is concerning

Even with the win, there was some worrying signs : the midfield is still not clicking. Horan is too slow and carrying the ball too long. She lost the ball many times in critical areas.

Did she just say trinity Rodman is dribbling much, uh that’s the reason we scored, she needs to dribble more! And shoot more often…and please horan was just bad stop defending the her.

I now think we can knot some goals, it's the defensive organization that I'm more concerned with.

GER-USA will be very interesting; I still believe the UEFA teams will be the best in this competition and going forward and could take all three medals.

Why is she always so negative?

11 vs 10 is always weird because it encourages bunker defense, and that's what Zambia did. Still, we should've converted on both Trin and Crystal's headers, at least. But more important that goal differential, to me, is conserving legs... and if Soph, Lindsay, Mal, Trin, and Coffey were able to rest a bit, I don't think we can complain much. This is tournament soccer... survive and advance!

Happy with the win but….. In theory Zambia could play us to 0-0 eleven vs ten. Also some defensive breakdowns are scary. Corners are still terrible.

Albert did not have a good game. She was never going to be able to fill in for Rose because they offer very different things. Shaw would have been the better choice. Albert can’t break from he “boos” and it’s time for Emma to accept that for now. She has crumbled under the fair reaction of fans she hurt. Perhaps playing out of the states might help but idk. She’s mentally lost. Play Shaw more

I watched that game. USA played very well. Those where very good chances. Chances like those are so important so long as you convert them. Golazos only relies on moments. In football the easier things are hard to implement. USA has to focus on the easiest things first

You're forgetting that while Messi didnt play he is still the heartbeat of the team and all the players have said that, they play for their big brother in a way and is how Messi also affects the team off the pitch, for Colombia i think they were sorta rattled a bit by the events from earlier as were Argentina but maybe they couldnt get in focus as quickly get it together as Argentina, and they looked gassed at the end, i partly think had the chaos before the match hadnt happened maybe Colombia would have won it instead, but they did a great job! For the situation I think the one that won was the one that won. Don’t sleep on Alistair Johnston. He had a great tournament. Playing for Celtic and having to go up against Rangers 3-4 times per season, set him up nicely for these South American matches.

I understand your frustration and unhappiness that the United States hosted the prestigious Copa America 2024. The South American Football Confederation CONMEBOL asked the U.S. to host the CA after Ecuador bowed out. The U.S.A. has hosted 2 FIFA World Cups first in 1994 for the men's World Cup and for the women's World Cup in 1996. The U.S.A. has plenty of experience organizing FIFA World Cups. CONMBOL demanded it organized and marketed their Copa America 2024, the face blame for their greed in not paying for extra security and not marketing.

German ref didn't see handball in the box from an English player just before Kane dove, just before English second goal he whistled for a dive from an English player while the Dutch had a dangerous outbreak. Ref literally created both English goals and the last 30 minutes of the match was like a personal vendetta against the Dutch from the ref. Never seen something like that, ever.

Nah the criticism of Jesse subbing out David & Estaq was warranted. Both of them were gassed & the team needed fresh legs to at least get something going which in part they did as Canada did had chances after the substitutions. I think you guys forget that Argentina were able to rest some of their players in the group stages, while Canada had to play their top guys every game for over 90mins just to get results. And as we saw some of the Canadian players simply ran out of gas by half time. Proud of the boys & if the team can clean up & be more clinical in the attacking 1/3 this team can make some noise. That's the only thing separating the elite teams from Canada is that finishing at the attacking end.
