right choice but i'd be lying if i said i wasn't sad. end of an era and she has handled immense media pressure and scrutiny with grace since she was in college. her play has frustrated me (most of the time) the past couple years on the national team so it's awhile coming but it's surprising to me how much they were still playing her through the She Believes Cup if it's true Emma was making decisions behind the scenes. Why was she still starting most games this year if the plan was to phase out/ cut her? Seems a wasted opportunity to give others those minutes
Lilly was offered an alternate spot but she is not ready to commit to the US national team. She has applied for Dutch citizenship. There is a chance she will commit to the Ditch national team .
Alex did have the opportunity to retire from the National Team over the last two years. I would argue she should have done this and had a nice sendoff. We could have moved on sooner to give the younger players needed minutes.
Ridiculous. First to call it a downfall is crazy. Before the loss to Mexico, which was a lot of experimenting, but congratulations to Mexico just the same, you have to go back to November 2022 to find a loss for the the USWNT (The Sweden World Cup was officially a draw with Sweden continuing on due to PK's, I don't make up the rules.). Second, Alex Morgan, like every other player, was invited to play for the USWNT. It's not like she had some strangle hold on US Soccer.
