CBF Takes Legal Action to Stop Cuffs Run Hydroelectric Dam
The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) is considering whether to allow further study for a large pump storage hydroelectric facility on a tributary of the great Susquehanna River. The facility would dam on a unique small stream, Cuffs Run, to create a large 580-acre reservoir. Water from the Susquehanna River would be pumped to fill the reservoir.
But creating this pool would flood hundreds of acres of valuable farmland, fields, and forest, thereby destroying vital wildlife habitat-including half a mile of natural trout stream-and displacing nearby residents.

The latest survey results show that for the fifth consecutive year, young-of-year striped bass (aka "rockfish" or "stripers") numbers remain far below average in Maryland and low in Virginia as well. In response to this disturbing trend, the Atl...

Louisiana has the world's largest blue-crab fishery, not Chesapeake Bay. Please change your video to reflect this fact. In fact, if you’re eating a blue crab in Chesapeake Bay, it may actually be from the Gulf of Mexico in Louisiana. Also, we cook our crabs better because we boil them with all kinds of seasonings and things that make them juicy and tastier as opposed to sprinkling them with some Old Bay spices and then baking them in the oven. ofthem. They are really much better our way. If you come to New Orleans during jazz fest, you can try a deep fried softshell crab , they are delicious Also, we cook better than they do north Louisiana. We boil crabs with all kind of good seasonings and other things we don’t just sprinkles dry seasonings on top. If you come to New Orleans during jazz fest, you can get a fried, softshell crab, Poboy.

In terms of state fisheries, Louisiana's in the largest blue-crab fishery. However, the Chesapeake comprises both Maryland and Virginia, and combined the Bay's fishery is larger. As for where the crabs might be from, it is hard to say. Our crabs mate in the Bay and the females spawn in the lower, saltier end of the Bay. The tiny larvae are then pulled out into coastal waters, making their way back into the Bay as they grow. Whether Louisiana larvae end up being moved by the winds and tides up into the Bay is hard to say. As for cooking, I'd venture to say most Marylanders boil their crabs and yes, we do enjoy our Old Bay! It's wonderful how many different ways there are to enjoy this wonderful crustacean!
