  • In a win for local waterways, healthy communities, and the Chesapeake Bay, a proposed settlement has been reached in our lawsuit against the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). CBF and partners sued EPA for its failure to require Pennsylvania to develop and implement a plan to meet its commitments to reduce pollution under the Chesapeake Clean Water Blueprint. The proposed settlement is the result of separate lawsuits filed in 2020 by the Chesapeake Bay Foundation and its partners including, Anne Arundel County, the Maryland Watermen’s Association, and Bobby Whitescarver and Jeanne Hoffman. The Attorneys General for Delaware, Maryland, the District of Columbia, and Virginia filed a similar suit. The court combined both lawsuits.
    The following participated in this press call to explain the proposed settlement and what it means for Bay restoration:
    CBF President and CEO Hilary Harp Falk;
    Maryland Attorney General Anthony Brown;
    Maryland MDE Secretary Serena C. McIlwain;
    Maryland Watermen’s Association President Robert T. Brown; and
    Anne Arundel County Executive Steuart Pittman.
