Houdini OSC controller
Here are my Houdini OSC projects where I use two Android apps:
MultiSense OSC (reads phone data) - This app, for some reason, is not on the Play Store, but if you Google it, you can find it on multiple sites.
Preview video of test lnkd.in/dQZkYgrD
OSC Control (Custom user control for controlling parameters).
Preview video of test lnkd.in/dvPp82Dx
The Python code is open and can be easily adjusted to meet any needs

Exploring further with OSC! This time, I used the Android app, OSC Controller, to manage position, scale, color, and object switch. It's quite impressive, but I'm still brainstorming potential applications. Perhaps for precise object placement or recording complex animations that are challenging to execute directly in Houdini. If there's interest, I'll soon make both scripts available on my Gum...

Based on a TikTok video by @marcosmasd where the letter is sliced, I recreated the effect in Houdini. The original project was made in After Effects, but I imitated the effect using Houdini's procedural system. Rotation to packed objects
zhlédnutí 174Před měsícem
I found a great animation example by @BenCarmeli on X: x.com/BenCarmeli/status/1642925496374640641. He applies rotation to packed objects via primintrinsics, which is a cool and fast solution. I managed to recreate it and adjusted the animation to apply on object normals instead of the primintrinsic bound minimum position. However, the rotation bouncing is a little choppy, and I want to make it...

Laser Impact Simulation made in Houdini, rendered in Blender. All procedural: when the particle hits the statue, the circle starts to grow. Looks easy but still need to find a better way to optimize because the hardest part is the circle growth following the mesh curvature, and it's the slowest. #VFX #3DArtist #DigitalArt #3DExperiment #motion #3d #3dart #3dartist #blender3d #b3d #animation #ga...
Kinetic Slice

Found in a TikTok video from @marcosmasd, he explained how he made sliced letters. As a bonus, he showed how he created the effect in After Effects. It was super cool. I just recreated this effect inside Houdini and made the system procedural. However, the letter slicing is a little buggy. The "Labs Boolean Curve" doesn't always work as expected. Next need to make it inside blender :) #VFX #3DA...

Tutorial?
@kiriltheone Probably not. For two years, no one needed this. And for one, I don't see the point in making a tutorial.

Thank you for this addon! Please, add one more button for removing the origin to min, max or center for all of axes immediately
?
mmm what a wonderfull app! How did the information transfers? Wi-Fi, BT, or internet?

@@emilsvfx No man it video
Awesome!
Nice!
Just Extract Centroid on the prims ;)
tnx for tip
hey! can anyone please tell me what is that not equal node before delete geometry ?
boolen node what gives value 0 or 1
@@emilsvfx thanks
Great, Emīls!
thanks its amazing, only way, which works easily with animated pscale as well
Just bought this, the VEXpression snippet has been removed from the Falloff Control wrangle for some reason. Any idea what's going on there?
You can make screenshot of the node setup and send me.
@@emilsvfx E-mailed it.
very cool!!!
vector a seems completely redundant?
better use this @N = normalize(@P)
Nice
omg, this is fantastic!
This is soo good!!! <3 Could you share how it was made?
check tutorial
buddy, that's awesome, thank you.
Impressive
OMG. You just saved my day.
Cool
whohooo I made it :) But now I dont know how to change de colours :(
You could have just written: @N = normalize(@P);
yes i know in 5ys i have learn something :D
I love small fast tutorials thx
Great technique! Thanks for this! Also love the short vid format 👍
Were can i use this in advance?
This all depends from you. Every project is unique. Maybe for dbug or effect where is text involved. It's your call.
nice approach!
Would there be a way to do this inside of Houdini?
yes, only you need to make in shader. probably all depends what render engine you will use.
Fantastic, Emīls!
Can please someone explain me why is this working? what is exactly happening inside the point VOP? (I'm new to houdini)
VDB have positive and negative voxels in they negative a hey attribute -1 and this way I say to points move them until they are 1. 1(Outside)/ -1(inside)
awesome
cool
i remember how i tried to make morph between two procedural objects and there were no possible in c4d or blender way to make it, and houdini... i am sooo new to it like, i just start to learn like windows and menu but like half year and there is, the updates and its possible to morph two objects with different amount of tris/polys/verts but yet in blender its hard love it, this is so smooth

@@emilsvfx THANK YOU
YOOOOOOOOO SO COOOL
I have a feeling I'll be using the tricks I learned from this video many times. Thank you so much
Happy for you. And make more fantastic stuff with houdini.
you can do this without the ray node... just scatter and copy to points
Tnx never know that.
Would love a tuturoial on this!
no tut only project file available emilsvfx.gumroad.com/l/rqovw
god`~ edu full video?
?
@@emilsvfx Any full version videos that made this?
@@emilsvfx I want to learn, too
You also have a tio for agx to Photoshop?
Sorry no. But probably somthing same. try to check it out
@@emilsvfx okay I'll test it. Really baffled how everyone else puts out there images from blender and then on the web. Since the web is mostly srgb
@@emilsvfx it didn't work, blender uses colorio V2 and the ps plugin is still V1. Photoshop even crashes when it tried it. The filmic transform action I made comes close, but it's not the same. I cAn use override in the save menu and force sRGB. But than we loose data I believe
@@RomboutVersluijs the workflow is the same only you can use only the base color preset, if you want to use Punchy you need make custom curve for that
Oh come on , how is this even possible...
Say tnx to SDF
Could be what I’ve been looking for for hours, I’ll report back if I’m successful
That helped me out.... thank you!
so good!!
brilliant!
I see you can change the Epsilon to change the FoV, but how do I change the FoV to be exactly 90 deg, or 45 deg?
you can make your own logic how to delete mesh, for example try to use gradient node and then compare it
Thank you. I'm new to blender but I'll give it a try@@emilsvfx
got it on gumroad, a bit upset that I can't see the actual geometry node tree.
Hi.Open geometry node view to see node tree.
thanks, the geometry nodes tab is empty, even when I select the right object in the panel. Anyway I got it to work for my application. Thanks@@emilsvfx
But you select object who contains geometry node modifire?
yep, selected the object with the geo nodes. @@emilsvfx

Why 😂 ???

great tutorial, thank you!
How are you picking the head? I tried the blast node and the edit but I only get single quads....?
...never mind, I see at the bottom of the screen says to hold H to select hierarchy
Amazing! May God reward you with kindness. Thanks
thank you
Thx for the tip ! I've created a python snippet that automatized the whole process, and gives you all the necessary lines in the console, that you just have to copy/paste in the wrangle : import hou # Obtenez le nœud courant (peut être un nœud Wrangle ou tout autre nœud où vous souhaitez exécuter ce script) node = hou.pwd() # Obtenez l'objet attribut de détail geo = node.geometry() # Parcourez les attributs de détail for attrib in geo.globalAttribs(): if attrib.name().startswith("Exp_"): # every shape key must begin with the string between "", change it to your needs attrib_name = attrib.name() code_line = 'f@{} = chf("{}");'.format(attrib_name, attrib_name) print(code_line) # Imprimez la ligne de code (facultatif)
