Richard Gilmore realizes they failed rory
This clip is too painful to watch honestly. Brings together the painful parts of Gilmore girls and the parts I don't watch. Extremely toxic
Emily ist sehr verletzt das Loreley lebt ein glückliches Leben und versteht nicht warum sie nicht ein Teil davon sein kann . Es von außen zu beobachten ist lustig, so etwas selber zu leben bricht einem das Herz.
She should have become a food journalist and eat around the world.
Emily had a life full of dissapoitments.and shehelds her head up not to show her fear.
Mitchum was right. Rory didn't have it. He would've liked Paris.
what is the title of this film? pls let me know <3
Poor Emily. To me she makes sense lol
SO many people in here, saying the guy did the right thing. I wonder how that boot taste every time it has crushed you. Pretending that you always bounced back, or that you will any day now. Maybe you can, but many can not. (but hey you got yours right so that is ok) Firing someone and telling their mistakes does not mean you have to crush them so hard that they are basically landing in the 6th stages of grief. I have fired people and there never has been a need to crush them. It always has been better to explain the how and why and how they could improve. Most of them landed quickly on their feet after that, and all of them have used me as a reference.
If people can't take criticism or being talked to harshly, then that's their problem. Logan's dad gave her an opportunity because he felt bad about how his dad and wife treated Rory. She didn't meet the standards, so he had to fire her. If Rory had a spine, she would take those harsh words of his and threw them back into his face by proving him wrong. Instead, she complained to her grandfather like an entitled brat.
"Me and Rory are best friends always and you and I are mother-daughter always" Yeah. You (Lorelei) built a cozy life from nothing, you provide for yourself and went from a maid to a manager and then business owner, you have it together. Your best friend daughter is 30 smth, pregnant with a married guy she rejected, no job, she stole a yacht once, because some dude criticised her, and also had an affair with her married ex who she dumped for another guy. So maybe Emily was a better parent than you are???
I cannot grasp the fact that Rory was older than me when I watched this show, and now Lorelei is younger than me. It doesn’t even seem like an old show. Goodnight World.
These are interesting, because we see moments where both Dean and Logan try to redeem themselves to Lorelai, and they're character building moments. Do we ever see one of those with Jess?
her style, her attitude, her personality, everything about EMILY is just ICONIC, shes probably my favourite gilmore girl after Lorelai.
This moment and when Rory is rude to Emily I totally love I mean Luke treats Lorelai and Rory with love and respect and he adores Rory and that's all that Emily should want for them but no she always has to interfere in their lives to make HER life better and by damn the consequences until Rory and Lorelai told her enough
We are all crushed like this in various ways. We must all get through those events and rise above.
I have the same relationship with my mom. I tried to bridge the gap by asking her to watch this show. I thought somehow she would understand. She said she didn’t like it. It broke me
The issue for me with Mitchum’s criticism was that it wasn’t constructive. Had he said you’re trying so hard to go with the flow that all your showing me is that you can be a great assistant. If he said I need to see your ambition, you pitching ideas etc then it would have been effective. Essentially all he did was destroy her self esteem. Because up until that point she hadn’t ever been mad to feel like she couldn’t achieve her goals especially since she always had been able to focus and get it done before.
I must say, not familiar with the show, but very familiar with the concept. Being an only child is Hella tough. Siblings learn at an early age, the skills needed to survive in real life. Grabbing that last piece of chocolate cake takes planning. ( I can only imagine!) Being the only child, I already knew that last piece was always available and saved just for me, served on a silver platter, and was told how lovely I looked while eating it. How was I supposed to know not everyone felt that way about me?! I’m I socially awkward and inept, I have always had trouble with my peers; misunderstanding my intentions. See I’ve already said too much and I could go on and on but now I am 53 and could give a fuck, but anyway just keep this in mind when dealing with people, you never know how they grew up.
Sorry, yeah I’m gonna reply to my own comment because I do not want to edit. I have to correct a mistake in my first paragraph growing up as an only child is not Hella tough. Just the result of growing up that way makes real life sometimes tough
really annoying program
Wow I’m learning so much about life and child rearing from these comments 😂😂😂 I’m laughing but it’s true
To be honest, being friends with your child first (rather than a parent) is not a healthy relationship.
loud & obnoxious
when she had to drop one class, she said she was a failure and the "everything's falling apart," for having to drop ONE class. after the whole yacht thing, everything did start falling apart because rory can't handle simple criticism. she always wanted to be a journalist but oh because mitchum says she doesn't have it, she just quits instead of working on making herself better. i'm a rory hater through and through.
This bch is lost
Im sorry the edit is very good but the song is not a vibe for study 💀
as a kid i could hyper focus on things that interested me. grade school was a breeze, until it wasnt. i was diagnosed with ADHD in ths 90s... that meant a shit ton of pills. those things killed me, everything lost taste, color, vibrancy everything became grey, stayed that way even after losing the pills. doctors ! woohoo. I realize now being almost put on a pedestal for how smart i was, i never put the work in. when all it was became the work over intuition i suffered for my lack of organizational, memory, and discipline skill sets. the adult adhd community has helped me tremdously explain many of my behaviors and improved my mental health.
Rory went downhill after season 3 after they she messed up everything
Looking back after the show is all wrapped up, this was the entire point of Rory. The show was really about her mother and coming up from behind, not Rory. Rory was a self-absorbed, snotty kid that lived for praise, who never got knocked down and had to learn to get back up on her own...which she never did. Rory is ultimately a failure, a single mom without a future and no career, forced to finally grow up and rebuild her life as a person rather than an object of praise.
Me2 =/
Never saw the later seasons but it looks to me like it was the writer's who failed Rory
3:15. And that is the problem.
The fact Emily wanted Loreali to wear a tierra says a lot though. I think despite her not quite understanding her daughter and not knowing how to accept her, she did know how special she was/is. The LITERAL ONLY GOOD THING about the revivial/A Year In the Life was Emily character development and her and Loreali's relationship getting better and starting to heal and get even a little bit closer!
The only way the revival would work is with a follow up series, opening with Rory travelling around with her daughter, not speaking anymore with Lorelai (after the rift the cheat pregnancy caused). Basically Rory's version of her own upbringing, trying to right her wrongs (with Lorelai becoming a softer version of Emily)!
His my fave for Rory. He was her equal I think it forced her to be more accountable
Mitchum was 💯 right.
Rory is an idiot who never grew up
ela me inspira tanto
Esa cara al final del video... Se dio cuenta que debio de apoyarla.
She’s so me
It is hard to be the family's patriarch, to protect and console them. To tell them what grandiose a holes they are, when they need it. My family expects the patriarch to right all their petty grievances. They went scheming, and political after my grandpa died. As a result, they skipped the generation and dumped all those shitty things on 10-year-old me. Well, I cannot blame my father, uncles or aunt, but their squabbling resulted in tradition taking over and when all votes were counted I won by a landslide. All of my cousins voted for me. I blame them. They all were 18 and above at the time. I was the odd one out. The only male in my generation, among 20 grandchildren. we could have a matriarch for the first time after centuries. Now they all complain about patriarchy. Without me, they would end up homeless, in debt, in jail, or without higher education. I am grateful for my mother's family, these guys made the connections for me, so I was able to pull the strings. I was forced into the role of strong, stoic, emotionless man. Why I am saying all that. It is hard to be on the spot Richard is. When they cry... what to do?.. how to help?... when they need help or advice, they go to me, who do I have to lean on, to ask? Nobody. If I cannot help, I feel like a useless failure. So I understand why Richard wants to at least punch that guy.
If you wanna feel like shit watch this movie 😂
Omg 😳
The typical downfall of the golden child. Her family set her up to be this way.
Anyway, I know Rory is not a monster. I mean that her name sounds nearly like, "Rrrrrrrrrr!", imagine a monster, dragon, tiger, lion, bear, or dinosaur. I mean Rory's name sounds like, "RRRRRR!!!!" roaring.
0:33 Why did Rory break down with Richard?
I never watched this show (though my sister did), and this clip makes me want to watch the whole thing.
Oh Emily - for all the things that high and mighty things done in life, we really get to see a lot of the low side loneliness of her life. So many great moments from her -- seeing her tear up during Lorelei's graduation she must have been so regretful on so many things that she wished to have experienced as a mother separate from her having to being the wife to a high society family.
The guy wasn't wrong. People will crush you if you let them. It you can't come back from people being mean then you'll struggle in life. That being said... I wish to distinguish things like "being tough" and bullying or cruelty are different. Crushing someone to make yourself feel superior, that's just protecting yourself from any future competition. This can destroy a business.
Tbh this was the most satisfying scene. She was so spoiled. She completely undid everything Lorelai worked so hard for
Life doesn’t always go the way you planned. I was glad she was kinda screwed up later in life lol. Realistically it made sense.
And Mitchum was 100% right.
