Registrace 7. 02. 2015
This channel contains the complete 8.01x (Physics I: Classical Mechanics), 8.02x (Physics II: Electricity and Magnetism) and 8.03 (Physics III: Vibrations and Waves) lectures as presented by Walter Lewin in the fall of 1999, spring of 2002 and fall of 2004. The 8.01x and 8.02x edX lectures are high resolution (480p) versions of the more commonly seen OCW versions. Some edits were also made by Lewin. 8.03 is the OCW version, also in a 480p resolution. Links to lecture notes, assignments/solutions and exams/solutions are added. Playlists with Help Sessions for 8.01x, 8.02x and 8.03 are also available. They are "mini lectures". The problems discussed in these videos should be apparent after watching the first few minutes. Other playlists show Lewin in various appearances and his Bi-Weekly Physics problems/solutions and several excellent lectures by Feynman and others.

Doing mistakes are ray of struggle. H.C Verma and you both are very respected person on the field of physics.
Sir I have a question but not related to this scenario...That is can the graph which shows maxwell boltsnman's distribution intersect at zero. Kinetic energy 0 molecules are 0, but kinetic energy is zero when in 0Kelvin. So There can be particles with 0 kinetic energy in 0Kelvin. So some people draw graph intersect at zero some shouldn't...What's the correct one sir ? Can you please explain this sir by a reply...😭

This is an untidy hodge podge of a discussion. At 21:21 screws up Faraday equation and writing Integral of B*dA or Magnetic flux = 0. Then says that proves there are no magnetic monopoles.
*Magnetic monopoles do not exist but that has nothing to do with Faraday's Law* As far as the discussion about KVL and Fardaday's Law is concerned, please read the folowing if you want to get educated. In Dutch we say *"zachte heelmeesters, vuile wonden".* *I owe it to my multi million viewers to explain in detail why Electroboom is dead wrong.* *Many people make the same mistake that he made.* *All this is at the very roots of a correct understanding of Maxwell's eqs. I therefore have an obligation to set the record straight.* *This is my last msg.* Don't feel embarrassed if this physics is above your level; you are not alone. Non-conservative E-fields are not taught in high schools. I demonstrated at the end of my lecture #16 of my 8.02 E&M course at MIT that two identical voltmeters attached to the same 2 points in a circuit can show very different values. czcams.com/users/czcams.com/video/nGQbA2jwkWI/video.html This can also be demonstrated with a transformer. czcams.com/video/b7i2uMx7gHo/video.html *In fact, look more closely at my circuit; it is a transformer. My closed loop is the secondary winding (only 1 winding) of a transformer and the primary windings are in my electromagnet.* The reason is that an induced EMF (Faraday's Law) creates a non-conservative E field. This means that moving a test charge between the same 2 points in a circuit can require a different amount of energy (even with opposite signs!). You still aren't getting any energy for free, because it comes from the source of the time-varying magnetic field. When a voltmeter reads a value V it means that the integral of E dot dL across the voltmeter is V. In cases where Kirchhoff's loop rule (KVL) applies, 2 voltmeters attached to the same 2 points in a circuit will always show the same value. Kirchhoff's original text can be found in the following link, pages 497-514: books.google.de/books?id=Ig8t8yIz20UC. Clearly he was fully aware of the prerequisite for his "loop rule". KVL is a special case of Faraday's Law. That's why Faraday's Law is one of Maxwell's equations and KVL is not. My demo was first suggested and published by Romer in December 1982 in the American Journal of Physics. This demo has now become a classic; it's done all over the world at many colleges and universities. *ElectroBOOM and Dirk Van Meirvenne believe that 2 voltmeters attached to the same 2 points in a circuit must always show the same value which is not true.* It's quite embarrassing that they each posted a video on their channel in which they claim to have proof for their wrong ideas. Also read Professor John Belcher's thoughts on Faraday's Law and on KVL. Professor Belcher is my former colleague at MIT. freepdfhosting.com/0813df09f5.pdf *ElectroBOOM insulted me in his video by mentioning that the reason why my 2 voltmeters read different values was due to "bad probing". He stated that if I had done the demo correctly both voltmeters would have read the same value. He could not have been more wrong.* The following video may also help you to understand why 2 voltmeters attached to the same 2 points in a circuit can give very different readings. czcams.com/video/wz_GqO-Urk4/video.html
Anyone watching in 3040?
Can you please prove ampere's law from biot - savart
Ampère's Law is the magnetic equivalent of Gauss' Law. This can be derived from the Biot-Savart law (if you're interested in how). We'll create a path around the object we care about, and then integrate to determine the enclosed current.
Keep in mind...most object in the universe have only small amount of charge per unit mass....❤ ~Walter lewin sir❤ Wow... I have never seen these type of lecture.. Physics is interesting i feel cause of you sir.... You are the legend❤ ...
Sir your lectures givee me vibes like Einstein sir is teaching me ❤️❤️❤️
Basically who is he
bro owes einstein a cent
❤❤❤❤
the "correct" intuition is almost certainly an intuition about the answer to a question you suspect is tricky or counter-intuitive, not a true physical or geometric intuition
Anyone comes from PW😂
I wish I can become a professor almost like you becausw no one can teach like you. Teachers like you and Richard Feynman are responsible for inspiring so many young students to pursue physics. Thank you for your brilliant lectures. I see you as the feynman of our age.
Wow, thank you!
Howww ???
Hello sir i don't know if u are still read comments or not but sir I saw a lot of your experiment video u are truly amazing sir 💗 i really like how u make hard topic easy to understand😊😊.... I don't know why but my physics never improve how much I try but i still stuck in same situation i am preparing for NEET exam every time i try to do questions and ended up in mess if you are reading this sir then can u pls help me or give me any idea how to improve physics 🙂↕️
So nice of you
Sir can u please tell what does 26 100 means
building 26, lecture hall 100
What was the question?
I want to be like all of IITians
Where to find the 94 mit lectures im unable to find it
Ye kya Bole maine to suna hi nahi mai inko hi dekhte rah gaya tab tak video khatam ho gayi
"Uncertainity in measurement are essential! " Walter lewin sir❤❤ I am preparing for neet! Sir you won't believe i hate physics but your lectures made me fall in live with physics... I gained confidence that i qualify my exam... You are awesome... Very prestigious teacher. You became for me... Thankyou sir❤ i attended your lecture from india❤... We need that type of teacher! ❤❤
Sir pls make video on correct way of studying physics.....ure an renowed astrophysicist so u may know better
Sir pls make video on correct way of studying physics.....ure an renowed astrophysicist so u may know better
My dear Professor you are absolutely right. As you said the “passing grade does depend on the past history of the family”, but not the way you intend us to believe. General category student, inspite of excellent performance and for no fault of his, is given a raw deal and denied a seat just because of the “past history of his family” . But a certain category of students are given a seat in the college despite their appalling performance just because of the “past history of the family”.
Sir here is your proud student . Sir I'm selected for International Scientific Physics Olympiad from Team India which is gonna held in MIPT Russia. Thank you so much sir for making me capable for this huge glory 😢
You are a real Master!
This is crap! What’s the pendulum going to do once he lets it go? Accelerate?
5:14 I don't know about loosing but you surely gained one
Namsta sir, I am from India.. studying in class 12..sir your experiment give me a engry or interest studying physics..i am enrolled in science to saw your video... thank you sir
Awesome lecture 😃❤

Glad to see you're still alive, 😊 Dear sir I would like to confess I had learnt a lot from your lecture during the preparation of IIT JEE exams, unfortunately I was not in the top 2 lac students, in despite of that I had started from 2 tier College and today I am placed through campus with enough package. Thank you because there is your contribution in it too to teach.
Did you work out this problem though? (a) & (b) are easy but many make simple errors... (c) he said was easy, which it is if you have the knowledge, but that's only if you don't care about the "proof".
Thanks and Regards
I love you Sir❤❤❤❤❤
Mad professor ❤
Aww...i keep following your videos.... This vintage video is so special...... Physics professors live their life with elegance...admiring the surroundings..... Physics professor from India
Wait why im learning this in class 11th
my science teacher showed us this literally a week ago
I have my JEE Advanced exam tomorrow sir 😄 , been watching you since the last 4 years
Hope u go to IIsc indian institute of science or IIST(under ISRO) rather than iit......my advice....iisc ranks better than iit
Even walter lewin knows.....iisc better
Legend is getting older😢
Hey professor! Although I don’t have a teacher who makes me love physics, I absolutely love the subject and I hope to become a physicist in the future :) thank you for your inspiring videos!
I love you so much , as a professor and as a human. (I'm not indian btw!) ❤❤❤❤

Hello Professor Lewin! I wish you all the best and want to thank you and your CZcams channel for something very special. I remember how about 7 years ago I saw this birthday video that caught my attention. Very quickly after that I found your physics courses on CZcams and pretty soon after that you posted physics problem number 1; about the rattle back. These physics courses and problems inspired me to study and I finally ended up at Turku University of Applied Sciences in Finland. I studied machine automation engineering and I can happily say that now 7 years later, I graduated today with good grades. I know that I did the work for graduation myself, but the spark and inspiration to start studying came through your CZcams channel. I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart because my life and the future of my children is now in a really good situation. Many thanks Professor Lewin! I appreciate your work and your channel very much! Also, I wish you as many birthdays as possible :) Best regards, Kari from Finland.
thank you for your very kind msg
Sir i have done some research on bursting pulsars furthur from your studies can you please give a reply
many aricles have been publised about bursting pulsars. I suggest you read them first. If you then think you can still make a major contributing - submit your article to a refereed journal.
Httt
If both the bike and the fourwheel are accelerated at the same time and with the same speed, will they arrive at the same time? Sir..Plz give solution
Hello sir, I am 'Akash' I am preparing for the Jee exam as I am watching your lecture 8.02 and Solving the Question that you provided But it is difficult to solve the Question. So, I need your help and guidance please sir help me out ...
Even though i have graduated almost 2 decades ago from IIT MADRAS i still watches your videos for pure enjoyment and a bit of knowledge 😅 even tho i haven't studied in MIT it kinda brings me back to my college days ❤
